If companies were smart… they’d all get busy pushing this raise- because POTUS as your spokesman will be a boon to your business. I already shop at Old Navy for my skinny little son- but I did go check out clothes online for him at Gap too. I want them to succeed, because it appears they want their workers to succeed. President Obama is so good for this country.

I don’t know if you know this (you probably already do) but Old Navy is owned by the GAP. I believe Old Navy workers will be getting the raise also

I did just recently learn that TrumpDog- also when I went on the Gap site yesterday, or possibly Banana Republic- they had written on the site about the raise, it actually will go into effect in 2015. But yep, I had shopped at Old Navy at Christmas time – so I’m really glad they’re all a part of this raise. I’ve lived in a small town in ND for 9 years.. so coming to a city again and being able to buy from these stores is extra nice… although I really prefer shopping online, has gotten to be such a habit these past years 🙂

HaHaHa!! I’ll be a-wearing of my green O’Bama shirt, like I do every year! The one which arrived promptly ON St. Paddy’s Day in 2008!! But – I’m LOL’ing as in 😆 😆 😆 because at Trader Joe’s earlier (yes, thanks, I DID get out), I got some funny looks as I laughed out loud when I saw the BLARNEY SCONE, in the bread section!! Now, many of us who have been schooled in tea-drinking countries, will know very well Scone is not pronounced the same way as Stone, but most Amurikans do not, and yes, they really pronounce it that way! Sending pics to your email now, Chipsticks, you can post if you like! Will say it’s actually pretty tasty too, tho I seldom eat bread, I just had to buy this darn thing – now I know it’s all O’Bama ‘s fault ~ it’s that green blood running in his Irish veins!! 😆

/bewildered/ I go for lunch and come back and the ‘like this’ buttons have all disappeared? And Chips is in the house. Hmmmmmm. Wonder what she had touched prior to my departure and re-touched when I was away. I bet she was the one playing with the buttons.

Ch-i-ps! What have you been doing?

JackieG, it seems like he’s been spacing out his posts for a while now. I noticed because I used to check him regularly and then there was a stint when I thought he might have been on vacation. Then he returned and they haven’t been as regular. I can’t remember why I had originally thought he was on vacation, though I had a vague memory he himself might have implied it.

The irony of the beltway media complaining is, of course, that had they done their jobs – instead of letting it out that they do not consider reporting the facts to be their job – and told the American people the truth about the Affordable Care Act, the president may not have needed to sidestep their freak show. If the beltway press had concentrated on reporting the facts about Obamacare rather than salivating over the politics and how Republicans were going to attack it, they might have saved themselves the embarrassment.

Did anyone see Ed talk about that special election last night in Florida. Where Ed said that that area has voted Republicans for along time, what 30 years or more and Jolly just did win by 2%. But the media is trying to act like it’s some big deal. Ed’s question was do the Republicans have the media hoodwink over Obamacare? And that dried up old Bob Barker was supporting Jolly. Don’t care for Barker anymore.

    • March 12, 2014 at 5:34 pm

60 years … since 1955. Dems were about 3200 votes short. They feel they can win it in Nov from reports I’m reading from DCCC. They certainly can if they get aggressive in supporting Obamacare and President Obama’s middle class development efforts.

      • 86 anniebella
        March 12, 2014 at 5:50 pm

But the media is trying to act like this Jolly guy blew the Democrat out by 100,000 or 200, 000 votes. If a Republican had went into a Democrat area and barely lost the media would have a whole different story. And isn’t it strange that Chuck Todd and Rupert Murdoch released a poll the day after the election.

Bobfr and Anniebella—I watched Ed with Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and my stomach turned over.
Ed challenged Debbie when she defended running on “fix the ACA.” Debbie thinks Alex Sink’s losing strategy was ok!!!!!

Ed was right when he argued that we need enthusiatic discussion of ACA NOT acting like there is something wrong with it. Full throated partisan We Love Obamacare is a winning message. Don’t you agree?

Debbie sounds like an enemy to me.

          March 12, 2014 at 6:02 pm

Debbie is not an enemy but she is a MAJOR disappointment. She is old school Democratic fear.

Every Democrat that is allowed to speak in public should be cheering ACA. But if the head of the DNC is going to run scared, then there is no coordinated, powerful message.

When I bitch about Democratic messaging, I mean DWS and her litany of missed opportunities as DNC chairperson.

It must be a very thin line between enemy and person with microphone, a leader of our party, who declines to speak up loudly and proudly for The President’s signature legislation.

People have been sceptical of DWS for a long time but today I saw the problem clearly for the first time. Oy vey

              March 12, 2014 at 7:32 pm

DWS is serving two Interests. Her District and as DNC chair. The latter is a full-time job that is unapologeticlly partisan. DWS didn’t want the job. She agreed to the job if she would keep her seat and then have Co-Chairs.

Just like Gov Tim Kaine from 2009-2010. A governor with divided attention.

I wrote the the WH about this then in 2009, 2010 and when DWS was selected. DNC needs a Full-Time person who is focused on How Dems can win in 50 states. Dr. Dean was such person. DWS is not great as a DNC advocate. There are No events and nothing tangible to keep Dems motivated across the nation.

Sink campaigned as a weak candidate. She lost as such for Folks will vote for perceived strength over a weak Dem.

Crist is running unapologetically and every poll in FL has him leading Scott.

But as Matt Yglesias points out, too many progressives still haven’t learned that lesson.

If you’re a progressive and you feel that the political system isn’t doing what you want, it’s misguided to look at this as a personal failure of elected officials. It’s, if anything, a personal failure of you and people like you. Justice and equality doesn’t just happen because it’s nice, people need to make it happen. If it’s not happening, then its advocates are failing. And I do think there’s a lot of wisdom to the old Le Tigre song “Get Off The Internet.” Reading and talking to like-minded people about how powerful people are failing can seem like action, but it really isn’t.

Have any of you read the book, Lost Horizon by James Hilton, or seen the movie? I knew something had been haunting me ever since the disappearance of MH370, and today realized it was this play I saw when a sophomore in h.s. The book was written in 1931 and concerns a plane with English and Americans on it that goes beyond where that day’s radar can track it, into the upper reaches of the Himalayas and crashes. The survivors trek up to a Lamasery which is supposed to be the repository for all the knowledge in the world, as the world anticipates destruction coming from the sky in the next war. This lamasery and area are known as Shangri-La. This is a good story, and I keep thinking this plane was hijacked by someone wanting to get away from the world, some place hidden, like the people in this book. The L.A. Times says this event is unprecedented…….it is a mystery.

Loved the Two Ferns do..hated the blue Star although it worked fine on my computer at work I thought it was too distracting..Democrats need to ignore those Dems who are lukewarm and embrace Obamacare and run with it all the way to the victory podium in November..back to lurking
