Racism: Prevalent all around the world.

I’m glad she keeps on writing about it and forcing Belgians to recognize that this scumbag behavior will not be tolerated and will be exposed to the world.

What tha… @#&*%~ kinda newspaper puts out crap like this?

    • March 22, 2014 at 1:12 pm

Let’s be frank. If our own media hadn’t licensed and given credence to the grossest lies and calumnies against the First Couple, media in the rest of the world wouldn’t dare to post pictures like this. The US media has much to answer for in the way it’s treated PBO and FLOTUS, a lack of basic respect which it has afforded all previous Presidents, even criminals like Bush Jr and Nixon.

I really do not want to see that pic..a link only would be atrocious enough sorry

        March 22, 2014 at 1:21 pm

That’s what racism is and looks like. Minorities don’t have the advantage of hiding from it or saying, get it away from me. No one else should either. Especially, when it’s not minorities committing racist atrocities. It’s the majority race.

Hiding from it doesn’t stop racism. You stand firm, you confront it, you expose it, and you do your best to change the environment brick by brick.

        • 46 Layla
          March 22, 2014 at 1:23 pm

I actually know what racism looks like and I still do not want to see that pic

          • 47 Nerdy Wonka
            March 22, 2014 at 1:28 pm

Then scroll away and don’t comment.

I don’t like the view of hiding from things because one is uncomfortable. That is akin to telling the author of the tweet that she should back down and not expose racism. That’s not how progress has ever been made on any issue.

            • 48 Layla
              March 22, 2014 at 1:32 pm

That is rude. As far as I know we are able to voice our OWN opinions here. I am NOT telling to author to back down, just simply stating MY opinion

                March 22, 2014 at 1:38 pm

I presented a fact. The tweet is a fact. It’s not rude. It’s simple. If you don’t want to view the picture, scroll away and don’t comment.

There are many things I see on TOD daily, that I scroll away from and don’t comment because the TODer chooses to post what he or she wants.

Racism is a real issue and I’m not going to back down from it.

Good for you on this freedom of speech thing

                  • 51 Nerdy Wonka
                    March 22, 2014 at 1:51 pm

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you get to infringe on someone’s right of speech. That’s not what the Constitution says and that’s not how it’s been applied. You don’t want to see or hear what someone is saying or doing, you have the option of walking away or in this case scrolling away and not commenting.

That’s what I, other TODers, and others who use social media, do daily. One must not reply to every comment or post one sees in the vast realm of social media.

    Democratic Party Agenda

Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz held a press conference on the Republican National Committee’s 2013 Growth and Opportunity Project report. She criticized the Republican Party for alienating immigrants, women, and others. She also responded to Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus’ comment at a Christian Science Monitor event earlier in the day that the Democratic Party was “in the dumps.”

EuromaidanSOS received another call from the mother of one of the sailors on “Slavutych”. She insists that inspite of the reports that “Slavutych” have been overtaken by the Russian forces, it’s not true.

“Ukrainian police have seized 42 kilograms of gold and $4.8 million in cash during a search of the apartments of Ukraine’s former Energy Minister Eduard Stavytsky, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said on Saturday.

Avakov said the searches had been conducted in connection with a corruption investigation in the energy sector.

“It blew my mind when I received a report on the results this morning. How much would one have to steal, to have such a ‘trifle’ at home as pocket money,” Avakov said in a post on Facebook.

Stavytsky’s career blossomed under the presidency of ousted Viktor Yanukovich and was appointed energy minister in December 2012.”

    Jamelle Bouie

Inner-city poverty didn’t just happen, it was built. It’s the job of a policymaker to understand the full scope of what that means, from the blueprints of past policies, to their implementation, to the forces that drove the issues to begin with. And in the case of urban poverty, the issue was racism.

If the industrial cities of the Midwest and Northeast are heavily segregated—places like Milwaukee, Chicago, Cleveland, and Philadelphia—it’s because they were made that way, through law, policy, and violence. Starved of public and private investment—from schools and libraries to home loans and business development—they collapsed into the same dysfunction we see whenever we isolate a community from general prosperity, and punish its members for trying to escape.

    Great definition of Institutional Racism….

Ta-Nehisi Coates issues an extraordinary challenge to the president and white progressives (not just Jonathan Chait) to dispose of their conviction “that poor black people are not ‘holding up their end of the bargain,’ or that they are in need of moral instruction.”

Coates has some how made this debate about HIM…
he wants to debate everyone…including PBO …because…he is…well…he is Coates….

It is about breaking down those structural forces (institutional racism) in our nation that hold us all hostage but Black folks specifically… While Black people continue to FIGHT…STRUGGLE… as we ALWAYS have

He’s so ridiculous that he doesn’t even see the dissonance in his thought process.

NSA = BAD!!!!!! Infringing abhorrent views on women’s reproductive choices = GOOD.

If only he could be a woman for a day and experience the rolling back of rights.

        March 22, 2014 at 1:42 pm

Yet MSNBC seems hell bent on “selling” him to Liberals as an okay fellow because of his politically-driven NSA stance. Mind you, he would likely push the same or worse policies if elected President – excessive and oppressive surveillance on whomever he wants – particularly women and minorities.

Exactly. Disregarding the fact that he said it’s okay for businesses to discriminate against African-Americans. It’s okay for the government to legislate and control a woman’s body. It’s okay to discriminate against LGBT people but on NSA, he’s our guy.

          What utter crock.

LOL – it’s quite reassuring to see that the responses to this tweet are mostly “YAWN” or “Snowden is a traitor.” It’s time for NY Times and the rest of the media to get off the NSA locomotive of Libertarian bullshit and hop on to the correct-side-of-history bullet train. Meanwhile, it’s not lost on me that the NY TImes craftily released this Snowden dump about spying on China just as FLOTUS is trying to forge some new diplomacy there.
