        • March 26, 2014 at 8:59 am

          OMG, look at his face!!!

That broken wall in our garden has finally been fixed. The workmen asked me one day if they could use our electricity at around 7 in the morning, so I gave them the key to let themselves in to the kitchen because I sure as hell wasn’t going to be up that early. But then I worried Danny would eat them, that’s where he sleeps. What did he do when the fella came in? Didn’t bark, just wagged his tail and welcomed him. Guard dog? Huh. True, he’d got to know the fella, but still.

          I want my money back.

            And NO, no backises.

a 100 years ago when I was very young, Rufus and Iived in an apartment. On a hot, August night someone came up the fire escape, came through the window and stole my purse. What did Rufus do? Well you can guess – absolutely nothing.

The next morning when I discovered the crime I called the police. Rufus raised holy hell barking at the cops.

            God, I miss that dog……

If you think my Nickelby/Pearl/Kasper stories are a hoot, I could write volumes about Rufus’ antics.

glad the garden wall is finally fixed. An end to Danny’s flower pot fetish?

Did they throw Brzezinski out the window? They don’t want to hear anything like Obama is doing a good job. Like the piece of crap CBS News poll released which said Americans are disappointed in the way Obama is handling the Ukraine crisis.

      • 20 anniebella
        March 26, 2014 at 9:05 am

I am not disappointed at all.

      • 21 jackiegrumbacher
        March 26, 2014 at 9:22 am

AB, Americans haven’t the smallest clue how the president is handling the situation because there is NO good source of unbiased information. Polling on that question is like asking junior high students how they like college. It’s stupid and designed to get dumb, meaningless results.

        • 22 anniebella
          March 26, 2014 at 9:28 am

Agree, because they should ask the people this question, if you are not satisfied with the why the President is handling the Ukraine crisis, then what would you do? I would love to hear the answers.

        • 23 Judith Fardig
          March 26, 2014 at 11:20 am

          Exactly, Jackie!

      • March 26, 2014 at 9:53 am

Bogus Polls…i try not get excited or dismayed by them….the real deal is that most Americans would not be able to tell you where the Ukraine is…..The United States citizenry is woefully ignorant about the rest of the world…the powers that be have convinced us that what happens outside of our borders is insignificant..

just imagine if you will if our press covered the NSS with the same diligence as they did with the missing Mylasia plane….

        in addition…

we have a major ruling coming down from SCOTUS…how many Americans could tell you what is being debated in the court and what is at stake with the decisions…

The statement…that “All Politics is Local” is true and it bites us in the butt…there is a major push being made by state and local officials along with business leaders to bring the Pope to Philadelphia when he visits the US….in fact there is an entourage in Rome …making their case…

that is all i heard about on the news this morning…nothing about the President’s trip…or the Scotus debate…

of course the news…even local news has always been selective….there was no mention this morning…about how the Philadelphia School District wants to circumvent collective bargaining by using the court to null and void…Teacher Senority…

i suppose i sound pessimistic about the press…but Truth be told …more often than not…the Press does not live up to its sacred mission that was enshrined in the First Amendment!

This is one of the reasons why The Obama Diary…is so valuable and plays such a piviotal role in getting out TRUTHFUL information that the so-called Free Press does not do.

        • March 26, 2014 at 10:09 am

Totally agree with your comment. If not for this site, you’d never know from our local news the president is in Europe. It was all about getting the pope to come to Philly in 2015. Pathetic.

The CBS poll is nothing but a poll reflecting what the Media and the Vast TBGOPers apparatus have been saying since this Putin invasion started weeks ago. They in unison used the words Weak, Putin Wins, Feckless, etc.

The US Media agitates with GOP Talking Points then they poll and they confirm their agitations and then, use that to justify their negative parroting for their TBGOPers’ daily diatribes.

I believe that we are in the golden age of American politics for the world. The Obama’s as First Family have raised the bar so damn high, on the national and international stage that I don’t see anyone following in their footsteps. I have mixed feelings about what this portends for the future once they leave the White House; but I;m definitely going to savor these times.

This blog is truly a godsend. I thank you all with all my heart.

    Good morning Chips and TOD.
This morning’s NYTimes grades; Times gets an “A” for front page story about FLOTUS’ trip to China. Good coverage of the serious and important benefits both cultural and political that the First Lady is bringing to that part of the world.

Then on page 8 The New York Times shows its true nature. The stories about PBO in Europe this week are dominated by Romney McCain and Palin— referred to as The Presidents’ “challengers” as though they aren’t the triumverate of sore losers they actually are. Who gives a f–k what Romney or McCain or the 1/2wit 1/2 governor say? Nobody. But as tools to slam POTUS??? Priceless.

It should come as no surprise that the ACA enrollment period will be kept open for those in line. Same as we do everywhere in USA at the polls.
Also no surprise that GOP/MSM are stamping their feet in rage. After all, what else can they do?

    • 39 COS
      March 26, 2014 at 9:09 am

GM TOD friends. Msm is so predictable. As soon as there is something about ACA which they perceive as negative, it becomes headline negative news.

Pope Francis has formally accepted the resignation of a senior German Church leader suspended over his alleged lavish spending.

The Vatican made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday.

Bishop of Limburg Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst has been accused of spending more than 31m euros (ยฃ26m) on renovating his official residence.

The cleric, dubbed the “bishop of bling” by the media, offered to resign when the scandal broke last October.

In response, Pope Francis temporarily suspended Bishop Tebartz-van Elst and instructed a Church commission to investigate the matter.

Pope Francis has repeatedly expressed his disapproval of senior clerics whose lifestyles seem too lavish.

These leaders seem relaxed, purposeful, and pleased that progress is being made.

Cant understand why the US press thinks only bad news is good news. When people need to be uplifted they choose instead to be negative. No wonder people aren’t happy. My mother used to say, ‘he’s not happy unless he’s miserable.’ Now I get it.

      Good morning vetivera24…..

I honestly believe that they (MSM) do not want the people to be happy about anything; afraid that someone will give credit to President Obama, so they want everyone miserable, so that they can blame President Obama. This way, the miserable unhappy people will go out and vote against their own best interest. Go figure…..misery loves company.

          March 26, 2014 at 11:13 am

I truly know how you feel vetivera24,

I have wondered why they would be so negative during the years that I have followed the news, and then I decided that I would not give anyone that kind of power over me. I am at a place in life; whereby, I don’t tolerate negative depressing energy in my space. I click off the news immediately when it starts; even Dr. Maddow, the Reverend Al and Lawrence because they spend too much time on the negative statements and actions of the republicans at times. I choose not to be in the company of negativity.

If they portrayed President Obama and the 1st family in a positive light, that energy would spread and people would have hope. Sadly, at every opportunity, they portray him as the villain, stirring up anger, depression, racism and hate. We have to create our own happiness, in our own space, and spread it to others.

Here’s some happiness for your day : )

Putin has created the ‘perfect’ scenario, though negative, to focus the world going forward. He has given the perfect opportunity for PBO to get some of his core beliefs directly addressed. IMO PBO IS the right leader for this (engineered by Putin) moment in world history.

vc I remember listening to a press conference by Bush II and he was so inarticulate that I was embarrassed and wondered if he was drugged. But what was worse was listening to the media re-interpret and assign their meaning to his words.

I’m sure world leaders are finding our current president’s competence, preparation, vision, and overall genius refreshing and long overdue. He is a leader that they have no problem following.

‘Iโ€™m sure world leaders are finding our current presidentโ€™s competence, preparation, vision, and overall genius refreshing and long overdue. He is a leader that they have no problem following.’

Yes, ma’am. And world leaders are blossoming beneath this kind of leadership-partnership. I got a sense that the meetings have had shared input with real and meaningful discussions, because the leaders all seem to know what they are talking about and they are talking with confidence, piggy-backing on what each person says. We are so fortunate that PBO has two more years to continue to show world leaders, and the world, what ‘leader of the world’ should look and feel like! Those still in world politics after PBO’s term is over will have a clear template to measure, and guide, the next U.S. president. I think any US president coming in and hoping to revert to the ‘me-leading-world power, you secondary’ will have a difficult time on the world stage.

I noticed msnbc lost interest in the press conf when it was announced there would be only 2 questions, neither asked by the usual WHPC nasties. No controversial humiliation of the president possible today. Goodbye. Back to Andrea Mitchell. Quick check revealed no stations bothering with airing this European appearance and statements by the president of our country. Sad.

Excuse my language, but that was one (ahem) badass news conference! IMO. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed such a conference in which ALL leaders/speakers were so obviously pumped and confident and positive….despite the circumstances. It seems obvious now that a lot of good is coming from this Russian-Ukrainian outrage. Pour Vlad has inadvertently done the world a favour. ๐Ÿ™‚

You felt it too! Wasn’t it a beauty< Meta? This one, following on yesterday's gave me a huge jolt of optimism. Though I'm looking forward to more, I'm now thinking that at the very least Europe will emerge from this with a decreased dependency on Russian energy. Way to go, Tzar Vlad! ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Good morning vcprezofan2,

President Obama’s positive energy is contagious, he is a man of confidence, and when he enters the room, it rubs off on others.

Great spirits have always encountered violent
      opposition from mediocre minds.

Morning Cindy. Quite true that PBO generally exudes positive energy which is contagious (if you haven’t closed yourself off with negativity), but this was way, way more than that, far more concrete, if you will.

EXCELLENT presser. Very strong and emphatic support from EU.

POTUS now goes on to meet with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
