    Good evening “EVERYONE!”

    Hope that you have all enjoyed your day and evening…..,,.

    Love our President and his beautiful family.

    May God continually bless them indeed, and keep them protected from the ugliness of racism and hate.

      Why have we accepted the injustice of sending these CLOWNS to Washington; collecting their healthy paychecks, and they refuse to work?

      Over 2 million families are without work and Unemployment Benefits; losing their homes, no food on the table and limited means to care for their family, and we accept the BS of these people who have one and one agenda only; make President Obama a failure, and bring down the country if they have to.

        The only answer almost seems to be putting a hex on ’em or a pox on their houses. And I’m only half joking. I’m at my wit’s end about it.

        Will they never go away?

      I don’t get his reluctance to do this at all.

      • April 9, 2014 at 10:59 pm

        amk, I think he and numerous other Senators truly value the Constitutional role of the filibuster. Killing it will be historical and not something any reasonable Senator would do lightly. If the House were controlled by Democrats he would have done it already, of that I have no doubt.

        With the House controlled by KOCHSTERS, he knows that all the legislation that a Dem-controlled Senate would rain on Boehner, he would continue to refuse to bring any of it to a vote.

        The case I’ve tried to advance with Senator Reid is the more rain the better and have tried to make that case in the context that should the KOCHSTERS gain control of the Senate they would never allow the Democrats to obstruct in the manner in which they have since 20 Jan 2009.

        This Fair Pay Act obstruction might just be enough for Senator Reid to just do it. I hope he does as it could make both the Senate and House KOCHSTERS face a steady stream of legislation that the majority of Americans support. That could be what it takes to have the turnout we need on 4 Nov 2014. The KOCHSTERS know that if they lose on that day they will spend a very long time trying to construct a viable opposition party.

        Our job is simple – MASSIVE, record-setting turnout on 4 Nov 2014.

        YES WE MUST

          Filibuster has a constitutional role? That’s news to me,

          • April 9, 2014 at 11:28 pm

            All I meant by that comment, amk, is that the US Constitution, Article 1, Section 5, allows each Legislative ‘house’ to set its own rules. The filibuster in the Senate is such a rule and it has undergone various challenges. The House, not long after ratification eliminated ‘unlimited debate’ via the rules process. So, it will be historic if Senator Reid and Dems decide to do the same given that ‘unlimited debate’ (aka filibuster) in the Senate has survived since its first challenge by Senator Henry Clay in 1841. (I wish Senator Clay had prevailed).

        Here is my take of why Sen. Harry Reid and many other seasoned Democrats are reluctant to get rid of the filibuster. They know that it’s possible that after 2014 they find themselves in the minority. If Democrats in the U.S. Senate completely got rid of the filibuster they would, in my humble opinion be giving the Republicans, should they win the majority, the excuse to totally ignore them when crafting and passing legislations. I know that my take is a minority view at TOD. While I may disagree with the views of the majority at TOD on the filibuster, I still respect and share everyone’s frustration about how the GOP has thoroughly abused the filibuster rule to undermine President Obama. Nevertheless, if I were a Democratic member of the Senate I would be very cautious about getting rid of the filibuster. There may come a time when the filibuster is the only way to stop crazy laws proposed by the likes Ted Cruz, Rand Paul or any of the GOP tea baggers in the U.S. Senate.

          Given the gop’s burn-it-to-the-ground, 100% opposition to everyting tactics since 2009, the 1st thing they will do upon getting majority, god forbid, will be to nuke the filibuster. I bet my last dollar on it.

        • April 10, 2014 at 12:14 pm

          Appreciate your perspective, nath, and the collegial way in which you express it. And, I think that the reason the Senate Dems haven’t nuked it is just what you state. My perspective is that if the KOCHSTERS are ever in the majority the first rule they will change is the filibuster.

    I saw this group last week. If they are anywhere near you……GO!!! Your spirits will be lifted, your heart will rejoice, the music will live within you. I have never seen and felt so much joy from any group anywhere.
    Do yourself a huge favor…….experience them. You will be so glad you did.
    They dedicated their concert to Nelson Mandela. Then at the end of the concert, right before they sang the South African anthem, they paid another tribute to Mandela, the one they said “who made them proud to be South African.” I LOVED them.

      Good evening Mr. Bobfr……

      The truth will eventually set some free; opening the eyes of millions who are led by blindness for the truth, light up the dark places, and “ENCOURAGE” voters to come out in masses and vote for their “own best interest”, and STOMPING THE REPUKES INTO OBLIVIOUSNESS of their own ignorance and hatred.

    December 2, 1970 was the last time a Republican created something that benefits the greater good of society. Seriously, it’s been over forty years since any Republican has successfully enacted legislation that is based on scientific data, also known as reality. Richard M. Nixon created the EPA in 1970 which marks the last time the party behaved responsibly by utilizing data from climate scientists and attempting to clean up our environment. Their actions ever since have been an attempt to pollute indiscriminately.

    Everything the GOP stands for is rooted in religiously-based discrimination of some sort. Whether they are quashing the rights of women, the poor and minorities or relinquishing the rights to drink clean water and breathe healthy air, the GOP is always on the wrong side of history. They claim trickle down economics is the magical way the job-creator fairies instinctively share their wealth. Profit-gorging corporations care only about their coveted bottom line: earnings for the shareholders. They are not concerned with the middle class, as companies like Walmart have created the working poor as the new normal. The laws they’ve passed are unimaginably awful.

    Without even touching on the denial of racism and sexism, one can see very clearly how rooted in fantasy and lies the Republican platform has become. It is fashionable to disregard evidence, fact and data to promote the agendas of large corporations who care nothing for the citizens of this country.

    On a number of occasions, PBO has said that one think he misses greatly is being able to walk around in anonymity;

    PBO has also said that talking long walks helps him think (clear his head) ;

    PBO decided to that the mission to kill Bin Laden should go forward after a golf game;

    I don’t know if I am reading too much into this these PBO walks;

    But something has been nagging me since Tuesday April 8, 2014when Mr. Souza released a photo of President Obama , Chief of Staff Denis McDonough ;

    In August 2013, President Obama decided to seek congressional approval to use force in Syria after completing a “walk across the South Lawn with Chief of Staff Denis McDonough”;

    On Tuesday April 8 2014, President Obama, Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and John Podesta, took a walk in South Lawn Drive of the White House;

    Given all the happenings in Ukraine, I am keeping an eye on any possible coincidence or significance of these walks => is it possible PBO was deciding on how to handle Putin’s additional aggression in Ukraine?
