“Earlier this week, Business Insider published a list of 50 underrated colleges around the country—one from each state.

We partnered with Niche to bring you the top schools in the country with great academics and high acceptance rates. To compile this list, Niche used its data for highest academics rankings, acceptance rates, and in-state population. While some people may think these schools are “safety schools” because of their high admissions rate, their strong academics prove they’re much more.”

We are quite proud of our University of Montana Griz. We think the college is very highly rated.

Marilyn, does Lt. Gov./Senator Walsh have a shot at winning Max Baucus’s seat, or is he even going to make it out of the Dem primary?

          April 17, 2014 at 10:39 pm

He does have a chance. There is a primary, I haven’t paid too much attention yet. I did call Walsh’s office after he voted down the civil rights lawyer for the DOJ. I was so mad. The person who answered the phone just said they would pass on the message. I have to get in touch with my friends who know all that is going on. I’ll pass on more info when I find out info on all the candidates.

Stay up late with NASA and watch the Blood Moon… http://www.nasa.gov/topics/solarsystem/features/watchtheskies/lunar-eclipse-2014.html

Spring is here and ready to capture the world’s attention with a total lunar eclipse. The eclipse will begin early on the morning of April 15 at approximately 2 a.m. EDT. If you have questions about the eclipse, this will be your chance!
NASA astronomer Mitzi Adams and astrophysicist Alphonse Sterling will also answer questions in a live web chat, beginning on April 15 at 1 a.m. EDT and continuing through the end of the eclipse (approximately 5 a.m. EDT). The chat module will go live on this page at approximately 12:45 a.m. EDT. Convert to your local time here.
A live Ustream view of the lunar eclipse will be streamed on this page on the night of the event, courtesy of Marshall Space Flight Center. The feed will feature a variety of lunar eclipse views from telescopes around the United States.

We at TOD LOVE SCIENCE!! 🙂 Of course, tonight I love my sleep more….but some lucky night owls might be able to get in on this!

Ok peeps, I’ve been offline most of the day as today has been annoying in the extreme. And my allergies are kicking up. So off to watch Sir Tony Robinson (yes, Baldrick was knighted) as he traipses across Britain. See everyone on the flip.

How come we are not seeing much of PBO’s tweets around here?

      April 15, 2014 at 1:06 am

Dunno. But some are from his recent speeches, and sometimes we have our very own NW live-tweeting and many of us are watching live. That’s my take, and I’m sticking to it.

You are right JOB, NW has shared all those quotes from PBO in all her tweets she has shared with us. AMK must have missed her tweets. But I am glad and appreciative that he posted them again for people who might have missed NW’s tweets.

Just learned from CNN (some weather dude) that the Incas thought the blood moon was a god eating the moon, and when he was done with the moon, he’d come to earth and eat all of us.

Not sure if I’ll be able to stay awake for the Blood Moon. But I found earlier that I’ve got a perfect view of the moon in the night sky tonight, right outside my front door. However, I just went to show the perfect view to my granddaughter and the moon was gone, although we in the Midwest are supposed to have great conditions to see it.

Then I realized the moon was just hidden momentarily by the awning over my front door, and I merely had to lean down. Granddaughter laughed at me.

    And I haven’t even had wine. #TheCosmosSheTricky

You really have to give kudos to President G.H.W. Bush! He definitely showed class showing up to great and welcome President Obama, his President, to Texas. I am sure he doesn’t agree with most, and may be all, of President Obama’s policies. Still, he recognizes the fact that President Obama is the sitting President of the United States. It’s this kind of class that was typical of most political leaders when I was growing up. The current disrespect of President Obama by most elected Republican officials is unprecedented! It is exactly what AG Eric Holder was talking about.

I don’t see following the equestrian world regularly, but I LOVED events when I run across them and, of course it’s one of my favorite sports to watch during the Summer Olympics.

Cute airport moment from maybe 10 yrs ago: I used to travel a lot for work up to the DC area – flying in and out of Dulles airport. One Friday, waiting for my flight home to Atlanta, this handsome, distinguished-looking guy strode past me and sat in the row of lounge seats facing me but to off my right. He was waiting for my same flight. It took me all of 10 seconds to realize it was David O’Connor, big-time equestrian dude. I smiled at him and hesitated to say anything at first, but then I thought, “what the hell?”

So I walked up to him and sat down beside him: “Excuse me, are you David O’Connor, from the U.S. Olympic Equestrian Team?” He lit up like a candle: “Hi! Yes I am! Are you a horse lover.” I could see he was totally shocked that this strange black woman knew who he was. So I shook his hand and just beamed like a teenager: “Wow, I’m a HUGE fan! I saw you in person during the ’96 Olympics in Atlanta. You and the whole U.S team were such a joy to watch. I loved watching you get that silver medal. It brought tears to my eyes. Then, when you brought it home for the team in Sydney when we were down. You took that bronze medal when nobody thought you could do it. It was magnificent, like something out of a movie! Still gives me chills!”

He was sputtering and speechless! “Thank you, thank you so much!” Was about all he could get out at first. The man was so blown away, he could have levitated right there! Then I asked if he was heading to Atlanta and he told me he was heading there for a team meeting. We chatted for a couple minutes until just before boarding. That was a pretty neat moment! It made my day to see that I’d made his! 🙂
