Early Bird Chat

President Obama kicks a ball passed to him by a robot named ASIMO, an acronym for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, as he attends a youth science event at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, known as the Miraikan, in Tokyo

Jer, that robot is kind of amazing. You could replace most of the US House with robots like that and nobody would know the difference. They would be chapter and accomplish just as much.

They just show POTTUS meeting the robot on the 9am part of the Today with William Giest, Tamaryn Hall and the other lady. And on CBS morning show they mention the Wynn-Clooney disagreement.

3 minutes walk to polling booth
10 minutes in line to vote (about 20 people, half of them oldies elders
3 minutes walk back to home
1 minute showing off my finger to son unit & gloating (his voter id is yet to come)

    voting process

    1. A nice lady checks my voter id against a printed voter roll and reads out my name and id no. to the candidates agents, who then tick me off in their copy of voter list.
    2. Then man 1 writes down my name and id no (yes, writes down) in a register and gives me a voting slip and asks me to sign the register.
    3. Man 2 applies ink on my finger.
    4. Man 3 collects my voting slip (they are all sitting within one meter)
    5. Go to EVM and press the button.
    6. In a small window in the EVM, a print-out of your vote is seen and is collected inside the EVM automatically. So you have a paper trail too.
    7. Voila.

The French President invited POTUS to France for some kind of anniversary, I forgot what exactly. But POTUS accepted. So let’s hope FLOTUS, Malia and Sasha will be able to go with POTUS. It will be some time in June, maybe the girls will be out of school. Like you I love seeing POTUS and FLOTUS on the world stage. I just think to myself who ever thought that a black girl from the Southside of Chicago, and a black boy from Hawaii would end up being President and First Lady of the United States.

Chips, this is a study in grace. The exquisite manners of our president and the inbred hospitality and graciousness of the emperor and empress. I don’t know any other president, except JFK, who could handle these international meeting with such ease. Our president goes from dealing with absolute classless louts in the US to effortlessly interacting with international royalty. He just completely “gets” the people he meets because he isn’t blinded by his own self-importance. He is truly one of a kind.

I quoted from Jim on the last thread. Long read – worth every minute spent reading it.

“The very fact that they have come from across the country unmolested and unimpeded, waving their guns and bibles at federal officers and giving voice in open contempt for government, that very fact, that one right there, succinctly demonstrates that their furious protests, stoked by the media and the pundits and professional politicians and the false reality they exist in, is utterly without merit.

They themselves are proof that they are wrong.”

And the comment he quotes at the end of the piece – says it all about the stupid and how the media has turned their brains to mush.

A Defiant Rancher Savors the Audience That Rallied to His Side

    APRIL 23, 2014

BUNKERVILLE, Nev. — Cliven Bundy stood by the Virgin River up the road from the armed checkpoint at the driveway of his ranch, signing autographs and posing for pictures. For 55 minutes, Mr. Bundy held forth to a clutch of supporters about his views on the troubled state of America — the overreaching federal government, the harassment of Western ranchers, the societal upheaval caused by abortion, even musing about whether slavery was so bad.

He said he would continue holding a daily news conference; on Saturday, it drew one reporter and one photographer, so Mr. Bundy used the time to officiate at what was in effect a town meeting with supporters, discussing, in a long, loping discourse, the prevalence of abortion, the abuses of welfare and his views on race.

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

A spokesman for Mr. Paul, informed of Mr. Bundy’s remarks, said the senator was not available for immediate comment. Chandler Smith, a spokesman for Mr. Heller, said that the senator “completely disagrees with Mr. Bundy’s appalling and racist statements, and condemns them in the most strenuous way.” A spokeswoman for Mr. Abbott, Laura Bean, said that the letter he wrote “was regarding a dispute in Texas and is in no way related to the dispute in Nevada.”

Don’t say you all didn’t this THIS coming from miles away….Every Single RWNJ running for office that praised this little POS’s actions should have a campaign commercial made of this…and run it on a continuous loop until the stupid people and the people in denial, finally get a clue. Doc McStuffins Embraces Her Natural Hair—The Cutest Episode Ever!
    By Deena Campbell

Doc McStuffins has always been one of our favorite animated girls—she’s smart, adorable, and says the darnest things. Well, we fell in love with her all over again in the newest episode that highlights Doc meeting Curly Q, a doll who’s armed with a head full of big, curly locks.

After giving Curly Q a check-up, Doc tells Curly she’s in good health and has no problems, but Curly Q hates her hair texture and wants a change. When our favorite six-year-old explains that even she didn’t like her hair until she learned how to style it with her signature pigtails, we learn that even six year olds are encouraging others to embrace their natural hair texture. How cute!

Check out the sneak peak below and be sure to watch the full “Take Your Doc to Work Day” episode Thursday, April 24 at 9:30 a.m., ET/PT on the Disney Channel.

Morning everyone! PBO with that very aggressive robot had me a little nervous:) Isn’t science something? 🙂 Good news…

Orders for long-lasting U.S. manufactured goods rose more than expected in March and a measure of business capital spending plans surged, bolstering views of an acceleration in growth in the second quarter.

The Commerce Department said on Thursday durable goods orders increased 2.6 percent as demand rose across all categories. Durable goods, which range from toasters to aircraft and are meant to last three years and more, increased 2.1 percent in February.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast orders rising 2.0 percent last month.

U.S. Treasury debt prices extended losses on the data, while the dollar rose against the euro.

The report fit in with other data such as industrial production, retail sales and employment, that have suggested the economy gained steam after a troubled first quarter.

Growth in the first three months of the year is forecast to have braked sharply, because of an abnormally cold winter and an inventory overhang from last year that forced businesses to place fewer orders for goods with manufacturers.

The end of long-term unemployment benefits and cuts to food stamps have also robbed the economy of momentum.

First-quarter gross domestic product growth is estimated around a 1.5 percent annual rate. The economy grew at a 2.6 percent rate in the fourth quarter.

GM everyone! Been a crazy week for me and I’m just trying to get caught up. Wanted to stop by and say hello. Even when I don’t have time to comment, I always love reading the posts and seeing all the fantastic pictures. Thanks again and a very happy 8 month birthday to Danny. Don’t worry, he will settle down. My 14 year old sweetheart of a lab ate a palm pilot, camera, a coffee table, and my brand new beautiful boots (my one splurge purchase from a trip to Australia!) all because I forgot to latch his crate when I left the house for 3 hours to go to a pre-school sing along. He grew up and has been the best friend ever. So if you can slow him down for a second, please give him a skritch from me!
