Thank you, Bob. This man sounds EXACTLY like someone I would like to know…he has done everything he could think of to be a better advocate for his captured son…including teaching himself 2 languages and growing his beard the way of his son’s captors…for this, in the eyes of the RWNJ’s, he’s a threat. Amazing and ignorant and exponentially intolerant…just the path they are all going down right now. If this is the issue that makes sane Republicans, Independents etc shake their heads and say, “Enough!” then all this ugly smearing of a loving, desperate father may have a good ending after all…be it at the expense of family that has already been though so much and is undeserving of this torment and slander.

I salute them all. Maybe I don’t agree with everything, or maybe I do, but being a mother and a human being that cares for others, this man is showing his undying love for the well being of his son and the respect to the captors that held him in an effort to bridge a deep divide. The Right has lost their collective minds, and I hope that this example is the light bulb moment that America needs to see to be able to understand what we have known all along.

Df, Mr. Bergdahl was doing everything he could to help his son and be ready for him should he ever be released. That was love–pure unadulterated, unconditional–and that kind of love is frightening to the hateful. The more ugly and over the top the right becomes in their sneering accusations, the more they show their depth of their ignorance and the blackness of their souls.

well just as I was writing my comment on the previous post~ Voila! up pops this new(ish) post.. thus my comment again 😉 :

Hola and Happy Sunday ~ am back.. sort of, still cannot determine cause of my cpu problems.. but oh well, going to have to hand it over to the pros apparently.

Many thanks to Chips, Donna, Meta, Dudette, PrettyFoot.. and sorry if I missed others- on your lovely wishes on my new baby Granddaughter, named Avery June- in honor of my 81 yr old mother. This is my eldest son’s baby 🙂 🙂

About Love is Love… lemme tell you a story: My middle son was in a relationship for a few years with a lovely young woman, they gave birth to my second granddaughter who is now almost 7. After they broke up, the young woman, my granddaughter’s mommy fell in love with a wonderful woman.. they have been together for a few years now.. and she too has become parent to my granddaughter. A few years ago they- the two moms, asked my middle son to donate sperm (yes thats right) so that the second mom could give birth to a sibling for my granddaughter. My son and the two moms are not ‘involved’ other than they share parenting roles for my granddaughter, and of course they are also very good friends with each other. Thus I am expecting another grandchild (gender to be learned next friday) in November.

So there you have it- the ODDacity of my family 😉 because Love IS Love. And by the way, my 6 yr old granddaughter is a marvelous, well adjusted and much loved child by all three of the families of this ‘trio’ of parents.

Some tidbits about the humble and modest Pope. I noticed during the “common prayer” ceremony that the two Presidents kept trying to defer to him – by letting him walk first or sit first or enter the vehicle first. The Pope declined and “held the door,” each time, figuratively, for both of them first. When the Pope was asked if he would ride in the papal limo, he declined, preferring instead to jump (I use that term loosely) aboard the minivan with the other two leaders and the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. This is why, I believe, the two Presidents could think of no good reason not to join him at the Vatican to pray for peace! His charm and humility and modesty overwhelms ya! Kind of reminds me of our charming President Obama, of course.

JOB, no one else in the world could have pulled off a meeting like this. The pope’s prayer was magnificent and when he said that all of us were children of the Almighty, Peres and Abbas were right there with him. I don’t believe Netanyahu has a conscience or much discernment, but if he did, he would see that he is the one who chooses violence over peace and hate over love. No one listening could have misunderstood.

        June 8, 2014 at 4:46 pm

Totally agree. This Pope is 10 steps ahead of many people, just as we’ve all said President Obama is. He didn’t say “let’s chart a way toward peace … enough is enough,” choosing to say “come to my house and we’ll pray for peace.” The Vatican made it clear this wasn’t part of any political process, at least not by intention.

I think Peres gets it, but think I heard he’ll be out of office next month. Not sure what the event will lead to, in the case of Abbas. But all involved were given a little respite from the hate and violence … a little down time to think about the peace and love you mentioned! Ball’s in their court, next.

        It’ll be interesting.

Netanyahu wants nothing to do with peace. As far as I can see the Israeli Right and the GOP and the Conservative Dems of AIPAC work for the munitions industry. The last thing any of them wants is peace.
And before anyone says anti-semite, I am jewish. I have been to Israel. I’ve seen the walls and the checkpoints. As far as I can tell the whole peace and security thing is designed to make sure there will be no peace. It is massively tragic.

Great respect to this amazing Pope, Shimon Peres and Mahmood Abbas.

KARACHI, Pakistan — Gunmen attacked a cargo and V.I.P. area of Karachi’s international airport late Sunday night, engaging in a heavy firefight with security forces and killing at least four of them, Pakistani security officials said.

The officials said that six to 10 attackers were involved, and that the fighting continued into Monday morning.

When Hamas was founded in 1988, their charter called for the liquidation of Israel. But many things have happened since 1988, including the fact that Hamas leaders have declared their willingness to negotiate over a two-state solution. Rather than see this as a clear sign of moderation and progress, both Netanyahu and Herzog keep railing against the international community for their willingness to recognize a national unity government in Palestine that includes Hamas.

Back in 2010, Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal told Prof. Robert Pastor of American University that the Hamas Charter “is a piece of history and no longer relevant, but cannot be changed for internal reasons.” Meshaal isn’t just random dude, he was the target of the most infamous assassination attempt of Netanyahu’s first stint as prime minister in 1997.

It would indeed be a problem if the Israelis were to make a deal with Fatah that Hamas did not recognize.

Hello, All. (Bringing this forward from the end of the previous thread.) Classroom duties and family sadnesses have been overwhelming lately but I do drop in and read the top of the post, if not all the comments, when I can. Just thought I’d share this.

I was driving to school on Friday and hadn’t traveled far from my house when a big SUV that had been behind me pulled into the lane next to me. He made a motion with his hand for me to roll down my window, the way you do when you want to tell someone their tire is low or their trunk lid is popped. I slowed and rolled my window down. He immediately began yelling “Thanks for Obama! He’s a disgrace! He’s disgusting! Thanks a lot”. I was so shocked, I just started laughing and laughing. He kept ranting until he finally pulled away. I guess laughing was probably the best response. But as I drove on I just became utterly aghast at the virulent, obsessive hatred his brain must be steeped in to slow down in traffic to scream at someone because of a bumper sticker. I was pretty passionate about opposing Bush but I never ranted at people in their cars, in traffic. Never crossed my mind. I hope he doesn’t have children to teach this hatred to. Or maybe they’d become Democrats in protest.

My bumper sticker is a round magnet from 20012. Earlier this year someone wrote with black permanent marker “I am an idiot” across it. I left it there with the message on it, thinking it said more about the person who wrote it, than me. The snow this winter washed it clean 🙂

This has become a mental illness.

How sick – not to mention dangerous (glad you’re safe) – it was for that guy to treat you that way.

Not sure why you thought to start laughing, other than the ridiculousness of his rant, but good for you for finding the quick solution to get him out of your way! As you said, these foolish rants and all the anti-Obama graffiti out there are more about the persons who say and write it than you – or President Obama.

      Hugs to you!

The emergency dispatcher received a call at 11:50 am claiming an armed men with a rifle and a bullet-proof vest was shooting inside the Walmart. An earlier distress call said that police two officers were down in a pizzeria at Nellis Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, where two unidentified assailants reportedly walked up to two policemen and shot them point blank.

The two Metro officers were eating when one person shot one officer in the head while the second person shot the second officer, Channel 8 news reports, citing police sources. Witnesses claim that the suspects took the police officers’ gear, saying before they left the restaurant – “tell the police the revolution has begun.”

If the suspects were black then they are thugs who deserved to die. If they were white then they had Asperger’s and the mental health system is at fault.

    • June 8, 2014 at 6:18 pm

And whatever color they are, they are terrorists and insurrectionists and should be named and treated as such. I won’t hold my breath.

At a news conference at about 1 p.m. Assistant Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the male shooter, described as a tall white man, yelled “everyone get out” before shooting.
