I always feel sad for him when he says the thing he misses the most is just being able to go out for a walk—–and sit at an outdoor cafe, people watch, just do normal things–without all the fanfare—-misses his anonymity.

      • June 9, 2014 at 4:34 pm

This guy is a real piece of work Donna, apparently deleted racist stuff before starting to tweet about Bergdahl, and a bif Bundy fan too. And media presented him to the world as an honest soldier with no agenda.

          June 9, 2014 at 5:00 pm

Isn’t it just amazing, the negligence of our news media—–rushing to get this guy out there, tripping over themselves to get him FIRST, with no background check of any kind, just because he was going to say something which would harm PBO’s decision? Controversy!!! Yay!!! Beyond shameful, to say nothing about the harm done to this country, misleading the public, negatively influencing opinions. Disgusting.

          • June 9, 2014 at 5:11 pm

It’s my biggest bugbear in life Dotster, and not just on issues related to PBO, on any issue at all – that supposedly ‘neutral’ experts/commentators are presented to us by the media, without us ever being told about their ideological baggage. Cody Full is a far right racist who despises the President, and he’s made that clear, but he was painted as just an honest soldier with some truth to tell. Absolutely disgusting – and Bergdahl’s life has been endangered by this madness. I could scream.

Sure hope law enforcement is keeping a sharp/sharper eye on this fella. Seems to me that of late some of these wackos signal their intent in large or small ways, which are unfortunately not picked up/remarked on until after the deadly fact. Are these *his* hints?

    • June 9, 2014 at 5:57 pm

It’s because of menaces like Cody and the media which enables them, that we have domestic terrorists killing cops, innocent children, etc. We cannot simply explain this away with the “mental illness” trope. There is a wave of coordinated and deliberate solicitations of violence based on bigotry, misogyny, and various forms of hate – endorsed by the NRA & GOP, and enabled by the MSM! Time to call them OUT.

      • June 9, 2014 at 6:00 pm

Absoflippinlutely Hopefruit, you said it. And the media isn’t just giving creatures like him a platform, they’re friggin’ glorifying and emboldening them and their hate. There is already blood all over the hands of this stinking media.

    Q&A with Representative George Miller

Representative George Miller (D-CA) talked about his 40-year career in Congress, his accomplishments, and his decision to retire at the end of this term. He discussed the influence his father had on his chosen political career path, and his mentor, Representative Phil Burton. He shared his opinions on some of the various controversial events in Congress, including the Tip O’Neill “pan scam,”

Jim Wright’s resignation from Congress, and the election of Newt Gingrich as House speaker. In addition, he talked about changes he had witnessed in Congress and the changing dynamics between the parties. He also detailed various issues he is passionate about and had worked on, including the No Child Left Behind Act, immigration, and universal health care. He talked about his family and his plans after retirement.

Wow….this was great…and will be a big loss for Congress.

I keep seeing articles about FLOTUS might run for Senate in 2016. Why is that, because I am willing to bet that FLOTUS wants nothing to do with politics and i can’t blame her. Beside FLOTUS is the kind who if you step on her toe, she will let you know, you’re on her toe and get the “H” off. She won’t just grin in your face. Remember that heckler. I loved how she handle that heckler.

    • 94 jackiegrumbacher

AB, the articles are designed to give alarm to the GOP base and stir up more fear and resentment among them. It’s like feeding them catnip. Michelle Obama has no interest in running for office and tying herself to DC for years. She’s done with elections and just wants to enjoy time with her husband and who wouldn’t?

jackie, it makes you wonder just were the talk is coming from, because afew days ago POTUS just sit there talking to Kelly and Michael and told the world that FLOTUS has no interest, I mean no interest in running for any political office. Ad if anyone should know, he should.

I’m sorry to go so O/T but I am so upset right now. About a month ago, a letter came home from school saying that a suspicious man had gone into the elementary school and had gone to the book fair. The police later spoke with him. We didn’t hear anything else about it. Now today a letter came home and apparently they kept the kids in for recess today because there was a car parked next to the fence by the playground with two men in the car–one of them had a weapon. My son told me that the principal said on the announcement that it was a gun. The police went to the school but the car drove away. They said the police will have an increased presence but my son doesn’t want to go to school anymore and I feel conflicted about it as well.

Given how crazy things have become, I really can’t say that this threat is far fetched or unlikely.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

    • June 9, 2014 at 5:47 pm

My suggestion would be for all the parents to join forces and bring concerted pressure on the school board, the police, your local and Federal representatives. Children must be able to attend school and not be afraid. I also suggest you write the President & First Lady and tell them about what your son has experienced.

    • 98 jackiegrumbacher
      June 9, 2014 at 5:48 pm

Is there much time left in the school year, MS? Can you call together other parents and confront the school about this fear? Other children may be feeling the same way and the school and the police need to deal with it right now.

      • June 9, 2014 at 5:58 pm

Thanks Bob and Jackie for the suggestions. I will call the principal and police chief and talk with them. We do have a parents’ group so I will go to our facebook page and see what they are saying. The letter said that there will be increased police presence tomorrow but I just have had a bad feeling since the first incident that someone or some group is casing the school. We have some really whacko conspiracy types that have gotten much more aggressive.

I’m just so angry with all the irresponsible media outlets, talk radio personalities and politicians who have been fomenting this anger and paranoia and gun fetishism.

“Experienced Chechen war veterans that took part in warfare in Chechnya and the Middle East are opposing Russian imperialism and offer Ukraine their support. “In this world there are many people who are ready to fight against Russian imperialism, or in other words are ready to support Ukraine as a peacekeeping battalion,” said Amina Okueva the representative of the organization “Volniy Kavkaz” [Free Caucasus]. She also noted that about a thousand war volunteers are ready to stand by Ukrainians at any time; however there is no law in Ukraine that would allow the formation of foreign battalions. Okueva stated that she would like to see this issue resolved.”

Someone explain to me what kind of world we live in where a neighbor “friend” sees these nuts stroll down the street with a red shopping cart full of guns and thinks nothing of it???

“The couple’s ideology was no secret, yet a neighbor who saw them set off on foot Sunday morning with a red shopping cart carrying weapons and ammunition was not alarmed enough to call police.

“I thought they were talking out of their neck,” Kelly Fielder told NBC Los Angeles.

She said Jerad Miller, 31, had two guns and bullets and Amanda, 22, had a .38 caliber handgun in her purse and a rifle.

“We gotta do what we gotta do,” Jerad Miller told Fielder, adding that they were departing for an “underground world” and needed protection.

Amanda Miller then embraced Fielder and said, “I am so sorry.”

“Someone explain to me what kind of world we live in where a neighbor “friend” sees these nuts stroll down the street with a red shopping cart full of guns and thinks nothing of it???”

I think people have become desensitized – in part due to the GOP/NRA/MSM’s attempt to “normalize” that kind of behavior – because (1) they deep down agree with the sentiment that fuels it, and (2) somehow are of the mistaken belief that the intended victims will be people like PBO and his supporters. All those RW and Libertarian websites that call for “armed revolution” with Sarah Palin’s full endorsement, are being consumed by these people on a daily basis. Even movements like Occupy Wall Street was becoming dangerously close to the Ron Paul kind of anti-government obsession and desire to inflict harm on those who represented any arm of the government. This is a dangerous ideology that has become normalized during the Obama Presidency – and a large part of it is RACISM!

Now that the wing nuts are going after the police, maybe we’ll se all law enforcement organizations finally speak up with a loud voice against the gun madness.

I’ve been surprised that we don’t hear more from the national police organizations. They have to be much more present in the debate. They have spoken up a bit, but far from enough. The situation is deteriorating and they’re in a good position to do something. At least they have to educate the public and debunk the fantasies that “a good guy with a gun” will be able to stop a bad guy with a gun. They KNOW it doesn’t work that way. They KNOW it takes years of training to be able to intervene in a dangerous situation without putting others in danger.

Police Unions supported the Republican nominee in 2000, 2004 and 2008. Then it was reported that Paul Ryan opposed the bill to help 9/11 first responders so instead of supporting PBO in 2012 they didn’t support either candidate. So don’t be surprised that they aren’t speaking out on this whole gun control debate because they apparently like the way things are being handled by those on the right as crazy as this may seem.
