    I don’t know if anyone in bitter and perpetual war-monger McCain’s office ever reads his twitter messages;

    either way, I can only try to send Zizi’s piece to his account and hope that some aide at least reads it and knows that people are tired of his foolish blubber and his constant agitation on behalf of the war-profiteering MIC;

  10. June 12, 2014 at 11:01 pm

    I say that there be a “WAR” tax on millionaires before we send one piece of equipment or one person. No profiteering and NO contractors will be paid until the war is OVER.

      Catching up and no one will see this probably, but I had to endorse this idea! Both pieces: extra tax on millionaires to pay for wars would mean next to none would be authorized and also if no one in the MIC gets paid until it’s over, any war started would not be indefinite – in and out!

    This middle east conflict is not new. The media and politicians need to review what the allied powers did after World War I, dividing up the middle east according to their (European) desires. These adventures never end well, and how about our putting the shah on the throne in Iran, then trying to protect him when the revolution came?
    One of my comforts is that I know PBO has read and understands the history of these places. The people yelling the loudest know the least and are the least knowledgeable. I doubt McAngry ever understood a history course he took, or thought it had any relevance. Also, our stupid, uneducated media need to study history…..I say this frequently, I know, but it’s a fact: they need to. They do display their ignorance and laziness every day.

      McCaffrey: ‘We’d Be Ill-Advised to Start Bombing”

      McCain says “send in the troops” – the media promotes his words

      It is suggested that PBO MAY, just may authorize the dropping of a few bombs – and then

      The media goes looking for someone to say dropping bombs is BAD. They are hacks – they will forever be against ANYTHING the President does. If PBO says, I agree, no bombs – there will be an outcry – we should have sent the bombs!!

      I am amazed that you folks keep fighting on against the horror of the US media and the GOP – bless you all.

    What is Going on in Iraq- Adam L. Silverman, PhD*

    John asked yesterday β€œwhat is going on in Iraq?” After communicating with him offline, he asked if I would do a guest post with my answer. What we are seeing in Iraq is that the Iraqis are reorganizing, or attempting to reorganize, themselves. The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the al Qaeda affiliate in the Levant, which is fighting against the Iraqi government and the Shi’a, is basically capitalizing on Sunni discontent and disenfranchisement. This looks like, and at one level is, settling scores. It is true that the Sunnis are outnumbered and I have had conversations with informed observers who argue the Iraqi Sunnis know they cannot win, unfortunately no one seems to have told the Iraqi Sunnis that!

    Iraqi Sunnis have been telling us, explicitly, since as far back as 2007 when we started partnering with the Anbar Awakenings guys that as soon as they had a chance – read as soon as we were gone and conditions were right – they were going to go after the Shi’a. They are specifically and especially interested in going after the expatriate Shi’a that we had empowered and put in charge: Maliki and his Dawa Party and the Hakim’s and their ISCI Party and its Badr Corps militia. The Sadrists are not too high on their list of favorites either. By not actually listening, and by listening I mean hearing what they said and observing their behavior in order to get a fuller understanding of their messaging, we have helped to make this worse.

    Thought I would add this to the conversation…still reading this

      In reference to your concern about Baghdad Embassy on previous thread, Jovie……..

      ….Cruz said that her firm has recommended using teams of U.S. and Kurdish private security firms to evacuate the contractors because the semi-autonomous Kurdish government in Iraq’s north had sent its security forces known as pesh merga to take control of the city of Kirkuk after Iraqi security forces abandoned their bases and equipment and fled. The Kurdish forces now control roads in the region.

      Negotiations were ongoing to secure the safety of foreign personnel in Baiji and to get them out of harm’s way. U.S. security contractors involved reported that they engaged in gunfire to get through the region, Cruz said.

      U.S. personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad remained at work, Psaki said Thursday night. The State Department said in January that it had about 5,000 personnel working at the embassy and at consulates in Basra and Irbil, including 2,000 Americans. Embassy personnel are protected by some 200 Marine Corps security guards and contractors who work from a $10 billion, 5-year Worldwide Protective Services contract the department signed with eight companies in 2010……

        (((((((((((((My have been on for a while now, MightyPamela))))))))))))) I always think of you when I light them. I just purchased some music for my yoga exercise time. (Like I needed some more music). However, the ones that I chose are so relaxing and lovely.

        Keeping our space as calm and full of goodness surrounding us. We never know when we will need to call upon that goodness during the day or night.

        I had an experience yesterday with my Part D plan. I had never had put in a claim, so I made one of several calls over a period of about 3 days. During one call yesterday, I was assisted by a representative who had a short fuse and an attitude that was so inappropriate. So I ended the call very nicely. Went downstairs to get something to calm my gut because I had stressed out during the call. I had decided not to call anymore, but my spirit would not let go of the incident. I felt my spirit saying within me, “No, this is just not about you. Suppose that was someone older than you or your mother who had no one to advocate for her or him. Go back upstairs and call to report the situation.”

        So I listened to my heart trying to communicate with my head, and I made the call to the claims department and asked for the grievance department. The young lady was very professional with my claim and gave me everything that was needed. I explained to her without revealing the rude person’s name, and I told her why I did not want to give the name of the person. She was very understanding.

        I finally got someone in the grievance department who was very understanding. I explained to her why I was calling and thought that it would help the lady who was rude to me. Maybe she had a burden that she was carrying and brought it to work, and just needed a break or a supervisor to sit with her and have a cup of tea or coffee or just share something a few minutes of something lovely about her space.

        Anyway, I tried to tell the supervisor that in this line of work so many people just need a calm and gentle spirit especially because they are mostly seniors who are dealing with medical problems. And many do not have a son or daughter.r or in my case, someone who is not intimidated by CEO persons etc., plus I have the blessing of having someone who is able to call the plays in a matter of seconds to protect me.

        And I shared with her that we all need to stop, smell the goodness we see or feel around us and take a deep breath of gratefulness because our society is so full of toxic attitudes and ugliness. We all have a responsibility to make something good come into each other’s life when things might be heading south. The supervisor was very nice and said that she had never had anyone to take the time to really explain why they were calling with such a niceness about them even when they had been mistreated by the reps. I shared with her that I could not help myself because my mother and grandparents instilled into me a set of core principles to sustain me in this world of troubles.

        I shared this because I realize more and more how President Barack Obama must feel each day of his life now for the last six years serving as our POTUS. But he must often think of his mother, grandmother, and grandfather who poured everything into him, because one day, they knew he would have to be prepared to handle the troubles, good and bad business of the world, and for people all over the world. I saw both of our mothers and grandparents so clearly during that call yesterday. And I felt a peace surrounding me afterwards.

        So let us listen, remember our parents and our village mothers and fathers, aunts, uncles, who helped to nurture our cores to move through this new village of roads that are smooth or even bumpy and rough; but we still need to make our journeys to get to the better roads and that just might be helping someone to get to a better place in the attitude department on their job. That call for empathy, patience, love, compassion, a big open ear, and a voice and heart that is full of goodnessjust might be knocking on our door, and we may have to make an effort to gently place that portion of deep goodness in those quiet moments with our god before we speak our words into our space.

        Good night my Chips, my Danny O, and all of my TOD family. We are going to make this with the best president and VP Ever!!!!! I love you all so dearly. HZ

      Reminds me of when Romney went on Jimmy Fallon to “slow jam the news” after POTUS did such an amazing job. Of course it fell flat and hardly got any mention in the news or elsewhere.

      I’m not sure what makes these Republicans think they can compete with our First Couple in charisma…on one hand they claim that PBO is *just* a celebrity, yet they try to follow every damn thing he does (while making major asses of themselves).
