Thank you, Sen. Boxer, for so warmly greeting the President and First Lady!

I agree with you jacquelineoboomer. You take notice Sen. Boxer is not like Sen. Feinstein. It was disgusting how Feinstein ran to the tv cameras with that Republican Senator to accuse the WH of doing something wrong in making the deal to get that POW soldier. Se would never have done a President Hillary like that.

Agree with you. Don’t think there will ever be a President Hillary (I don’t even like thinking that!).

🙂 A truly magnificent goal LP, I wasn’t too enthusiastic about van Gaal being the new United manager before tonight, now? Giddy! Well, so long as he signs all Robin’s team-mates.

I couldn’t believe how the floodgates just opened in the 2nd half……In complete shock that Spain was the last World Cup champions….what a fall off.

Didn’t Man U’s owner just pass away? I know they own the NFL’s Tampa Bay Bucs, but whoever made that hire seems to have placed the right bet.

        • June 13, 2014 at 11:52 pm

All those folk dismissing Spain as ‘too old’ …. I laughed, but they’re laughing now. Holy smokes! It could have been 10-1!

Yep, United owner, Malcolm Glazer, died, sons take over.

Would like them to buy ENTIRE Dutch team! 🙂

American owners shake things up……the owners of the MLB’s Boston Red Sox (Henry LLC) own Liverpool too, and I read they just refused to play by rules and transfer Suarez….

“Henry, speaking to the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, admitted “He (Suarez) had a buyout clause of £40m. Arsenal, one of our prime rivals, offered £40m plus £1. What we’ve found… is that contracts don’t seem to mean a lot in England – actually, in world football. Since apparently these contracts don’t seem to hold, we took the position that we’re just not selling.”

“The best thing that’s happened to Indian Country has been President Obama being elected,” said Dave Archambault II, chairman of Standing Rock………Obama has hosted annual conferences for tribal leaders in Washington, where native officials discussed issues facing their communities with White House and administration staffers. Obama’s senior policy adviser for Native American Affairs, Jodi Gillette, grew up on Standing Rock…………..

…….“The fact that tribal leaders can annually go sit down with the president, this is something that has rarely ever occurred,” said Eddie Brown, a professor and director of American Indian Studies at Arizona State University. Obama has also made it easier for Native American nations to receive disaster assistance by allowing them to directly contact the Federal Emergency Management Agency and streamlined permitting for economic development projects. “It’s taken out that step of having to go to the governor. That is just such a boost to our sovereignty,” said Cynthia Iyall, leader of the Nisqually Indian tribe in Washington state.

…..Archambault said he and other tribal members have spent the last week giddily anticipating the president’s trip. Obama is the first president to visit Native American land since Bill Clinton in 1999; before him it was Franklin D. Roosevelt. Obama also visited the Crow Nation in Montana during his 2008 campaign.

“I know what the president is making is not going to solve all of our problems overnight. I know that it’s not going to undo all the wrongs that have been done to Native Americans or to Indian Country, but it’s going to inspire a lot of people,” Archambault said. “If it brings some hope to one individual, if it helps one single mother, if a veteran feels pride, it’s worth it.”

David Simas, aka the “Assistant to the President and Deputy Senior Advisor for Communications and Strategy” retweeted Charles Gaba on Kentucky’s amazing 50% reduction in uninsured.

….Kentucky is the state where their Senate Minority Leader has been lying through his teeth about repealing the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”) while somehow still keeping “Kynect” (which is simply Kentucky’s branding of…the Affordable Care Act).

It’s rather amusing to see him lie through both of the forked tongues on each of his two faces, since accomplishing the above even theoretically would require at least a $500 million tax increase on the people of Kentucky (actually more like $650 million if you include the subsidies for Kynect QHP enrollees). It’s all a load of crap, of course, since McConnell a) knows the ACA won’t be repealed and b) would have zero intent of keeping Kynect even if it somehow was…..

This does not seem like a good omen for those hoping for another “Sons of Iraq” uprising like in ’06 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/28/AR2008042801120.html

I watched the video, regarding the dream of the Chief about PBO, and asking others to help with interpretation. As too often with dreams, sometimes it is not possible to interpret them correctly. I have no feedback to offer, but there are many on the YouTube comments section willing to offer hatefulness and condemnation. It saddens me after such a beautiful day. A little o/t, but with similar sadness, the troll over on the Gratefulness candle site has been reprimanded, but is very cleverly using a different, more subtle tone, still going after others in a critical way, but choosing his/her words more carefully, to avoid having the candles extinguished. So, Troll, whoever you are, we know you are lurking here, and we are aware if you. Remember that by lighting a candle you cannot spread your message of dark intent to harm, you only harm yourself. The Light does not carry darkness, only cuts through it. Goodnight everyone. Thank you for this day of wonder. Love Will Prevail.

As I read your comment, MightyPamela, I was thinking of constructing a response to lift you up. Then I saw your ending, “Love Will Prevail,” and realized you’d – of course – found the way yourself. I’m so glad you post here, and those haters don’t. Sleep well, when you get there.

I had forgotten most of this great speech POTUS gave as a Senator. WOW!!

…After Sept. 11, after witnessing the carnage and destruction, the dust and the tears, I supported this administration’s pledge to hunt down and root out those who would slaughter innocents in the name of intolerance, and I would willingly take up arms myself to prevent such tragedy from happening again. I don’t oppose all wars. And I know that in this crowd today, there is no shortage of patriots, or of patriotism.

What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other armchair, weekend warriors in this administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne.

What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income — to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression. That’s what I’m opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics. Now let me be clear — I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man….

….I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a U.S. occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaida. I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars….

That last paragraph – every word of it came true – has the media EVER recognized that the President recognized what would happen if the US invaded Iraq? This is a man who never says “I told you so” – rather he goes ahead and fixes things – while the likes of McCain say “I told you so” lying through their teeth and reversing their major mistakes while they say such a thing.

Oh my. I have been “off the grid” as they say for much of the day. Just now caught up on the pictures, posts, and comments from this glorious day. My eyes are filled with tears; my heart feels full …of happiness, pride, longing (to be a bigger part of it). All of my life, I have wanted to be American Indian. I don’t know why; I guess I romanticize them. I see them as true Americans …native Americans. I can not tell you how happy I am that we have a President who cares about the Indian Nations! He truly cares about all of us!
