π I will GGail!! I tried to find the week ahead schedule for R&S, but it doesn’t seem to be available yet – will post it when it appears. GOOOOOOOOAL!!
Good Morning TOD Family. Good Morning Ms. Chips. It is a lazy Sunday morning. It’s going to be a hot one in SoCal but this morning was cool and now the sun is shining. I wish I were in WA state camping.
The boss of BNP Paribas has written to staff warning that the French banking giant will be fined heavily by US authorities.
“I want to be clear, we will be punished severely,” Jean-Laurent Bonnafe said in the internal memo.
The bank could be fined $8.9bn (Β£5.2bn) for allegedly violating sanctions rules as early as Monday, reports suggest.
The Financial Times and New York Times also report that the bank will, unusually, admit guilt.
The bank is accused of breaking sanctions against Iran, Sudan and Cuba between 2002 and 2009.
…
In April, BNP Paribas said it had set aside $1.1bn to cover the cost of US penalties, but warned that the “amount of the fines could be far in excess of the amount of the provision”.
The bank’s share price has fallen more than 15% since the beginning of April.
If the latest reports are correct, the fine could almost wipe out BNP’s entire 2013 pre-tax income of about $11.2bn.
Indeed. And it’s the intellectually dishonest who talk about his accomplishments in the same context as previous Presidents who only faced a tiny fraction of his opposition.
Continuing with my usual theme of being a day late, here’s proof that @wsj is only revered by the MSM, not because of their astute acumen on world affairs.
Remember last Fall when you smugly referred to President Obama’s “blunder” or “Syria disaster?”
Who has egg on their faces now, and who will remind Americans of that fact?
Of course @nytimes has to throw as much cold water as possible on this good news, though they do admit:
“American officials and international monitors must stay vigilant, of course, but the biggest burden falls on Russia to make sure that Mr. Assad, its ally in Damascus, does not subvert the deal in any way.”

I wonder if this experience will steer the woman away from guns or encourage her to purchase more than one to ‘protect’ herself (from good guys with guns)? Wonder also, if she had shot him back in a reflex action if she would have been charged. I wonder a lot about people who feel the need to buy guns. I think I would be afraid to be around them; luckily I have NEVER had to worry about this as I know no one who owns one. [ Except when I visited Texas in 2012 and discovered midway through my visit that there was a gun in the house!!!]
I totally understand, Don. You better believe I was nervous when I found out there was one in the home, especially as it belonged to a man who couldn’t always remember WHERE he had put it. π
In my capacity as a Correctional Officer (donβt ask where), sometimes at work I am required to carry one and every year I have to maintain my proficiency with a firearm. Still, I have never owned a firearm in my life, nor do I intend to own one.
In truth, I know this would cause a lot of wrath, but I think those who own one in a non-work capacity, should have an age &/ mental health restriction (at both ends of the age spectrum). My father wouldn’t go to sleep without his beside him – when he remembered where it was! I actually asked my stepmom if she wasn’t afraid to have this early-stage alzheimer’s guy stumbling around with his gun never far away. this was a stubborn guy, who at times forget to turn off the stove after cooking! She said she was. π
Funny what I think of in the night….but why don’t we tax the living crap out of all guns and ammo? We do it for cigarettes and alcohol and all the other things that are not good for you…just wondering…
Oh…of course not:) It was just a wondering moment on my part…we can’t seen to agree on much of anything so the prickly issues of guns and taxes…not a snowballs chance. π
{{{{{VC}}}}} β€ Totally realistic, VC, and your dedication is always genuine. As a dual-national, I find it easy to relate to others who may not be US citizens, but love and admire PBO for who he is!
TY, MP. I take my honorary US citizen status quite seriously – why I was even cheering for them in that 2-2 game last week!!! That was the only full game I watched (and will watch). π
Is your technology still working despite being cracked?
Modern libertarianism is the disguise adopted by those who wish to exploit without restraint. It pretends that only the state intrudes on our liberties. It ignores the role of banks, corporations and the rich in making us less free. It denies the need for the state to curb them in order to protect the freedoms of weaker people. This bastardised, one-eyed philosophy is a con trick, whose promoters attempt to wrongfoot justice by pitching it against liberty. By this means they have turned βfreedomβ into an instrument of oppression.
Here are just a few excerpts of the Libertarian Party platform that David Koch ran on in 1980:
βWe urge the repeal of federal campaign finance laws, and the immediate abolition of the despotic Federal Election Commission.β
βWe favor the abolition of Medicare and Medicaid programs.β
βWe oppose any compulsory insurance or tax-supported plan to provide health services, including those which finance abortion services.β
βWe also favor the deregulation of the medical insurance industry.β
βWe favor the repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system. Pending that repeal, participation in Social Security should be made voluntary.β
βWe propose the abolition of the governmental Postal Service. The present system, in addition to being inefficient, encourages governmental surveillance of private correspondence. Pending abolition, we call for an end to the monopoly system and for allowing free competition in all aspects of postal service.β
βWe oppose all personal and corporate income taxation, including capital gains taxes.β
βWe support the eventual repeal of all taxation.β
βAs an interim measure, all criminal and civil sanctions against tax evasion should be terminated immediately.β
βWe support repeal of all law which impede the ability of any person to find employment, such as minimum wage laws.β
For a moment consider this; there are many types of lawyers. You have criminal defense lawyers, malpractice lawyers, probate lawyers, lawyers that specialize in all types of law. And what does Speaker Boehner do, he wants to sue a lawyer over Constitutional issues. Not any type of lawyer but a lawyer that taught Constitutional Law. President Obama graduated from Harvard with honors with a Juris Doctorate Degree in Constitutional Law, he taught constitutional Law in college for over ten years. And this is the guy that Speaker Boehner plans to make his last stand against. If anything President Obama should feel insulted, not by the suit mind you, but by Boehner choosing to sue him over Constitutional issues.
GM and GE/ TOD family and our beautiful Chips. Lovely and hot summer day on the west coast as GGail has already stated, but our TOD family is together again for another blissful day. Last night was wonderful,#sosueme. Loved every moment of it. Boehner and Co., does not realize that we are a force, and we will work as hard as we have in the past to keep PBO’s back.
I am not worried about our president’s ability to do what he knows best to do. He will do it, but he needs us to rally completely with him. I received an email from David Plouffe , and his message is right on point. The opposition had money in 2012, but see what happened. We can do this, but we must focus, focus, and help get the votes out. We must remember that since 2012, there have been young people who have graduated and are ready to vote. Let us get them registered and make sure we follow up on their commitment.
I know that we have vacations, family gatherings, and just plain sweet down time to consider; but have those and get rested, but come back energized and ready to hit the ground. Some programs are open this summer for a lot of work with our OFA, so please do what you can.
POB will not let up and he will not stop fighting for us. So let us give him a Congress so he can complete his agenda for all of us and our families. When we get discouraged, upset with these vile people; pissed off with their foolish words and actions against our president; remember this beautiful place that Chips provides for us each and every day. It is like a lovely piece of sweet, glorious, brilliant tapestry that is being woven continuingly with Hope, Faith, Courage, Hard Work, Sacrifices, and Dedication to Keep His Back. Then on, Jan. 20, 2017, we can watch he and FLOTUS get on that helicopter and wave to us, and say, “Thank you, Thank you, I Will Never Forget Who Sent Me On This Journey.”
“And now my journey here has come to an end, but my hope, my vision, my love for the people, and my fight is still within my soul, and I hope the same will be with all of you. Because of what we did, others will be able to move with a little more grace and fairness in their lives. So keep hope alive alongside your faiths, and make your paths wide and long so others can join you on the walk of more goodness of freedom in their lives.”
I know these are just a few of PBO’s thoughts as he continues to work in these next two and a half years. Let us make it happen. Remember, we are humans with emotions that are pure and sweet. But when one of us gets discourage in our thoughts; hold on, we are here together. And it is to Chips credit that we are so blessed to be in this beautiful sanctuary of love, peacefulness, compassionate hearts; generous contributions; kind words of encouragement; and beautiful and brilliant minds and spirits just moving FORWARD with a man who cares for each of us. We Can Do This Together. As Bobfr reminds us: #TrustBarack. Have a beautiful day/evening , my TOD family.
Still looking and hoping that CarolMae is fine. {{{{{{{{{{{{{ Love you, my beautiful Chips}}}}}}}}}}}}} Do give my Danny a Huge Hug for me. HZ

So Sue Me tweets and thread was a stroke of genius. I missed it all, but I loved it.

Morning TOD.
Margaret Thatcher was called “Tina.”

Nobody much liked her.

Okay here goes:

Isn’t this close to your home? Although I think you may be out of the country just now.
Is monsoon season now?

I’MB, so there!
Mooooooooorning VeeeeeeeCeeeeeee!
MoooOOooorrrnning, CeeCeeeeee! Terrific to see you’re singing….on a Sunday! π π Think you can hang on to this merry tune all day?
I will give it a VERY large try, VC!! π
That’s good enough for you…..oops… I meant ..for me!
I say # 1 is not true.
#1 can’t be true because the VP, Truman, had no idea about the bomb, until he became president after Roosevelt died.
I think #3 is Untrue.
Good Morning TOD Family. Good Morning Ms. Chips. It is a lazy Sunday morning. It’s going to be a hot one in SoCal but this morning was cool and now the sun is shining. I wish I were in WA state camping.

G’morning Chips, TOD, lurkers, everyone and congrats TM on #1 π Happy Sunday everyone!
Goooooood moooooooorning Hopefruit!
Hello, hello, hello, Hopefruit! Wishing you a happy and convivial Sunday, my dear Knoller fan.
“my dear Knoller fan”
I see you are looking to get me started this morning…
No, no. π Just checking if you were fully awake. π π
I am awake now – especially now that you got me started on Koll-troll π π π
π I can be quiet now – my work is done?
You are a RASCAL you! You and amk love to get me riled up and then slink quietly in the background once I’ve started…
Off to complain to PBO! Heheh..
Hf, I don’t think either Amk or I know how to slink, though we may at times be in the background – all the better to bolster you IF needed. π π
ps. Not our fault you are always strong on your feet – that speaks to your knowledge and commitment. π π
Indeed. And it’s the intellectually dishonest who talk about his accomplishments in the same context as previous Presidents who only faced a tiny fraction of his opposition.
I think the effort to neutralize PBO is doing a Karl Rove – they do not yet realize PBO did not walk into the White House, TWICE, by himself.
Continuing with my usual theme of being a day late, here’s proof that @wsj is only revered by the MSM, not because of their astute acumen on world affairs.

keeping an eye on this event;
will be interesting to see how hard Sen Warren brings down the hammer on turtle;

Where’s my breakfast?
You took too long to show up, Jovie – it’s sitting on the stove, cold as….. and everyone else has finished eating!
We are dvr’ing this show. I do look forward to see where it is going.
Morning all. Back to the Chat Away from way yesterday, such optimism in an effort catch up with y’all!
Now I iz so sad – just dropped iPad, onto my teacup, screen is badly cracked. Oh my goodness. So.
