Will just continue laughing at these tweets, NW, until you have time to extract me from moderation π
Done. Laugh away.
Thanks, NW. That George Takei ‘this guy wins for this’ tweet is total perfection and I’m still laughing!!!
Beaten again by the Great Bobfr. Congrats, Sir!
Thanks Sabreen. Hope you have a fun 4th!!
I’ve got to be close to 1st.
The egg and bacon one has me in tears. Literally.
Thank yoooooou Nerdyaroo, these are majestic!!!!!
Don’t you just love the ‘coral’ tints of the bacon, Chips …. π π π π
My dear Chips, the color of that T-shirt is not “Pink”!!!! And, the color of President Obama’s 4th of July shirt is NOT Pink. So, all I can conclude is that instead of ‘rose tinted glasses’ you must have either ‘pink tinted’ glasses or contact lens π π π π
Your T-shirt is Plum, my dear π π π π
Thanks Bob, you made my cheeks go all ****PINK*****.
π π π π π
That I’d like to see!!!!!
Bobfr, you will soon be our go-to-fashionista! I have been trying to name that color, as it is a favorite, but fully agree on the coral button-down, also very much a favorite! π You so clever!
Why thank you, MP π
I am that dude for sure. There are lighter and darker shades of those colors, not 48 different pretend color names. A guy’s gotta put his foot down somewhere!
Dear locke, my wife is a fantastic artist and she’s mentored me in the infinite range of values of any ‘color’ π
But, isn’t this really closer to magenta?
Noooooooooooo!!! π
Glad you enjoyed them, Chiparooooooo!
So, funny thing about me and the missus. We rarely like the same shows. For example, she is now binge watching “Grey’s Anatomy”. I have no interest in watching it. But what do I do? Read everything on Wikipedia about it so we can talk about it. We’re odd.
For example: right now she’s watching the “musical” episode of “Grey’s Anatomy”. Just because “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” did an iconic musical episode, every other show afterwards thought it could do it. Um, no.
Can you be an active duty service member and NOT a citizen?? That is weird
It’s bizarre to me 99ts:
“… in order to join the U.S. military as a non-citizen, you must be currently living permanently (and legally) in the United States. Tourist visas and student visas aren’t good enough. You must be categorized as a “legal permament immigrant,” with permission to work in the U.S.”
More here: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/noncitizenjoin.htm
A friend of my niece left Ireland a few years ago to go to college on a soccer scholarship in Texas. In no time, it seemed, he was signed up for the military, and was in danger of heading to Afghanistan. Despite being 100% Irish.
All very weird with him, having been a fine young fella, he transformed in to a bigoted, bible-thumping, Muslim-hating, hardcore right wing nasty piece of work within a few months of arriving in Texas. Would love to know what the hell happened him.
Am I talking to a . again? or is a message coming!
Confession: I completely misread your comment, replied, realized I completely misread your comment, deleted original reply to save embarrassment, replaced it slickly with one that suggested I wasn’t as big a doofus as the original proved.
π
You are an honest soul – albeit an amoral thread gold cup person. You cannot advise the President on GOP tactics if you are going to confess to an error – they do not do that – not ever – nor ever.
Apart from “an amoral thread gold cup person”, thank you 99ts!!!! π
So lucky you can save your tookas like that, Chipsticks. While the rest of us wordsmiths have to go on wearing our word-i-nessess for the life of the blog! π³
aha – the message
Yes, 99. As a condition for becoming a US citizen, you can enlist and serve in the US military. After a contractually agreed period of service, you become a naturalized US citizen.
Still unbelievable to me – also sounds like how the Feudal English Lords in Scotland used to raise an Army in the 1700s – fighting for a country when you are not a citizen of said country.
Actually, it’s quite a beautiful thought to me – that they would fight for our country because they want to be a citizen of it. I’ve seen some of those naturalization ceremonies, and they are heartwarming!
Same here, job! I know a couple of people who chose this path to become citizens. I’m in complete awe of both of them and cried like a baby at their ceremonies.
Awww. Happy Fourth to all of our new citizens – and to you!
What a schedule on Malia’s sweet 16th! I hope she has a wonderful day, and hope she knows how many millions of us wish her every happiness and all the joy possible!
But the whole country celebrating your birthday – what could be sweeter π
Sorry Bobfr, I didn’t notice you were first pass the post – I thought it was someone names Irin. π Congrats.
π
Sarah Palin sure is a lousy GOPer. Most of them get elected to get rich.
π
That kicked off my thought Bob – congrats on your 1st π
Thank you 99 π
Blimey that wasn’t meant to be positive about the world’s dumbest governor – rather showing the dumb – she really can’t do anything to benefit anyone – even herself.
Totally, TRUE!!!

Tomorrow will be 41 years ago that my Sweet Mom passed away, while I was holding her hand. I usually celebrate in a quiet way, but she gave me an experience that changed my life for the better, and opened a whole new dimension for me. I’ll be peering in, but may not have much to say! Everyone, have a Happy, Safe and Joyful 4th Of July, Happy Birthday to America!! π
MightyPamela – Your mother must have been something, to have raised a fabulous person like you! Enjoy your sweet memories of her.
{{{MightyPamela}}} Enjoy the sweet memories.
This week: the Bureau of Land Management hosts a competitive auction for renewable energy on public lands in Nevada’s Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone; a new report outlines a cooperative effort to restore the bison to its ecological and cultural role; the 2014-2015 Duck Stamp goes on sale; youth workers and volunteers take part in a Youth Summit at Harpers Ferry National Historic Park; and Yosemite turns 150.
Oh, I saw some ocean property off the east coast being auctioned as well.. I’ll try to find the link.
Don’t you wish you and I could put our funds together and try to win a bid on a little piece…not by the ocean tho, with all the storms etc?
I do indeed, VC, but the link I was seeking was for a business to invest in renewable wind energy offshore, in an effort to divest from fossil fuels. You and I would certainly not want to live offshore in a wind farm. I’m kind of thinking I would like to live in a geodesic dome, and would like it to be set in a bit of trees, but would also appreciate some view, and to be able to see the sky at night, so it has to be a little bit away from a densely populated area. Now, that’s not asking too much, is it? (ps: a wifi signal is mandatory, as I would need to be able to read and make comments on TOD). Goodnight my friends, I must go before I fall down and hurt myself or scare my kitty! Sweet dreams, big hugs all around!

Go to bed.
Yes, do go to bed, DannyO! It’s past your village bedtime!
My cat has no idea how to cat.
Just as well – my neighbor is trying to teach his cat that it is NOT the right thing to catch the birds – not an easy task.
Brutus only gets a little outside time because he chases birds and lizards over the fence and can’t find his way back. His only role models have been dogs. He was born in a basement with 3 of them and then adopted right after he was weened by us to grow up with two of them. He’s not graceful at all. He’s sleeps all stretched out on his back with his tongue hanging out. He’s not quiet. He drinks water loud enough to wake you up if your not all the way asleep. He just doesn’t get it.
So your cat is called Brutus – no wonder he thinks he is a dog π – being a cat lover – he sounds just as a cat should be – he owns you – not the reverse. π
LOL. Great collection, ut.

Happy 4th! I hope you have a great and safe holiday weekend.
Lots going on and I haven’t visited for a day or two! Hopefully I can catch up with your posts tomorrow. I am having a great time tweeting and writing articles about progressive Democrats running in races they can turn red to blue. I SO want to see Boehner handing the gavel to Speaker Pelosi!!
I saw this EXTREMELY interesting article. All of a sudden this decision might not look quite a good to those GOP business owners. What about vulture capitalists like Romney that buy businesses and run them into the ground, making money on bankruptcies? And 44 lawyers wrote a letter to SCOTUS asking them NOT to rule in favor of Hobby Lobby for that reason so they’ve been warned.
….This gets complicated, but bear with us. Basically, what you need to know is that if you and some friends start a company that makes a lot of money, you’ll be rich, but if it incurs a lot of debt and fails, you won’t be left to pay its bills…..
….That separation is what legal and business scholars call the “corporate veil,” and it’s fundamental to the entire operation. Now, thanks to the Hobby Lobby case, it’s in question. By letting Hobby Lobby’s owners assert their personal religious rights over an entire corporation, the Supreme Court has poked a major hole in the veil. In other words, if a company is not truly separate from its owners, the owners could be made responsible for its debts and other burdens.
“If religious shareholders can do it, why canβt creditors and government regulators pierce the corporate veil in the other direction?”….
Well, look at that. Wouldn’t it be something if this blew up in the face of SCOTUS and the corporations?
I’m with you Jacqueline. I saw someone asking if an executive at an auto company decided not to do recalls for some faulty product would that person be liable for injuries/deaths? This could be a huge deal and more cases are coming for companies/non-profits wanting to jump on the Hobby Lobby bandwagon meaning they are piercing the veil more each time. I would LOVE to see it come back and bite the GOP on their collective behinds!
That row of idiot boxes. Nails it.
Happy 4th of July TOD …
