Ralph, good to see you, and in first place, no less.

Haven’t seen you around for awhile (although I missed a lot here last month).

The last post from you that I recall was the “Frozen” video where the girl sings in 32 languages (or some such number). Popular culture is not one of my strong suits, so it’s good to see positive role models for today’s children.

Donna, the first line of the article about Democrats not being motivated to vote really raised my hackles. We have a litany of things to motivate us, beginning with a dysfunctional House of Representatives, a near treasonous Senate minority, an out of control right wing SCOTUS and a bunch of rotten GOP governors.

Thanks, jojo, for your response over the weekend to my post on how alarmed I was to see a “Impeach Obama” booth with President Obama with a Hitler mustache posters at the entrance/exit to my local Target/Home Depot/Staples stores.

you are welcome Arapaho…..that will probably be the last time you see them there. I think people will complain and the store owner won’t allow them to setup shop anymore. If they do return, go into the store and complain to the store manager and tell them you plan to write a letter to the head office.

Happy BEAUTIFUL Monday afternoon to you Linda!

I’m just getting back in for the day; trying to catch up, when I read your post about the updates on the kittens.

I’m so sorry to hear about little BooBoo but I know it was the best thing for her. Sissy and Binkers no doubt, has a wonderful new mommy : ) It’s so nice to hear about the human heart stories.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama has signed into law legislation that authorizes spending of $564 million over five years for the U.S. intelligence community and expands protections for intelligence agency whistleblowers against retaliation.

The White House said Obama signed the bill Monday. The cost figure does not include classified programs.

The bipartisan legislation specifies that employees would be protected when they make disclosures about potential wrongdoing within their agencies, to internal watchdogs or to Congress’ intelligence committees. The legislation adopts and expands whistleblower protection proposals made by Obama in 2012.

The legislation would encourage whistleblowers to voice concerns through channels rather than through unauthorized and potentially damaging leaks, supporters said. The new law, however, does not provide protections to intelligence agency contractors, such as National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.

Need sympathy. Have been dealing with a bad tooth for about a week. I have had so many traumatic dental experiences that I had decided to coast till death and never appear for a dental appt. again. But I had to scramble and try to find a new denty as I was forced to deal with this—my long time denty and I had parted ways, by mutual agreement. Made and cancelled appts. at the end of last week. Forced myself to keep one today—gal denty with the best calm and gentle online reviews—- but still I felt like I was heading to the executioner. I am the biggest baby about this—-I make this into a real horror–fear is way out of proportion but can’t help it–can’t sleep or eat—-hate dental appts. with all my being, would rather be anywhere else in the world, facing almost any other kind of life or death situation. I don’t want to lay back with my mouth open. I gag and cough and am a real mess. I had to commit all personal resources to go and walk into the office. I had planned to bring secret wine hidden in water bottle for post denty relief but forgot it. SAD! As it turned out, this appt. didn’t amount to much, just x rays of offending tooth with a huge gag-inducing apparatus in my mouthy. But my choices are dismal——root canal or extraction. Ugh and nightmare to the max. Do you prefer death by multi-day stabbing or gunshot? At least it’s over—-for now—-and am trying to concentrate on the one beautiful part of my day, as I enjoy an early wine—–had to stop (gladly) on the way to the denty as a mom and 4! new baby deer crossed the road in front of me. They were graceful and lovely—–made me think—for a minute at least—that not all is bleaky-peaky, there is still beauty in this world. Amen.

      July 7, 2014 at 5:13 pm

Root canals get bad press. They really aren’t all that terrible anymore. If they can save the tooth through a root canal and not need a crown, you are better off going that route.

    • July 7, 2014 at 5:18 pm

Oh Dotster, sending you a VERY large virtual hug! And the spookiest thing here is that I’ve had a crappy toothache on and off for the last few days and also face the horror of visiting the dentist – a wacky conicidence!

Now, I have to say, I don’t hold quite the fear you do, so my heart completely goes out to you after your ordeal. I’m just relieved you got today out of the way, and you’re having that highly deserved wine.

      Happy Monday dotster3!

I understand your commentary about the dentist. I have 2 nightmares that I will remember for the rest of my life; “hell in dentist land.”
I was so fearful about returning to a dentist ever in life but eventually it has to be done.

Yes, life is still beautiful in spite of the horror stories.

Hang tough, it might not be pretty, but I believe it better than “gumming it” the rest of your life : )

I am so sorry you are dealing with this, dotster. And japa, I must disagree about root canal. I had my first one in January. Horrible experience and I’ve sworn if I ever have to have another one, I WILL be sedated!!!! Good luck dotster!!!! Hang tough.

dotster, I am sitting here shaking my head and laughing at you! I’m glad you finally went to the denty – if for nothing more than to get it out of the way!

I too have to go back and get a permanent crown put on one tooth and last night another tooth (on the other side of my mouth) decided to cause the surrounding gum to swell. Now I have to stop procrastinating and get this dental work done. LOL!!!

      Dentist – Ugh!!!

        July 7, 2014 at 6:18 pm

dotster, for most of my life I had heard about how awful root canals are. People spoke of them in hushed tones. About 18 months ago I had to have one. My surgeon was a woman…..absolutely wonderful. I can honestly say I felt not one bit of pain during the surgery or after the surgery. She gave me a prescript for pain pills, and I took one, but really did not need that. I never felt a bit of pain…..the new methods are vastly superior for this procedure. Now I don’t even remember where that root canal was…..couldn’t tell you which tooth was the culprit.

As an ardent PBO supporter this sickens me but it’s also bad politics. She should build on the great things our president has achieved not run to the right. What a nincompoop!! Does anyone follow Sarah Slamen (correct spelling of last name?) Democrat from Texas (she looks very young)?

She was featured on the Ed show, and she is awesome in articulating her thoughts about the repukes and Perry.

Stated beautifully; what Perry wants is a daddy, crying about everything and blaming President Obama, and President Obama doesn’t have time for his foolishness. He is busy working for the people.
