I don’t understand this, Bobfr. I’m Firefox too, and my browser was crashing fairly often 1 and 2 days ago. Today (whispering while crossing fingers and toes) it seems to be soldiering along, even with the blue stars. Makes me wonder why the ‘same’ browser would behave differently in different locales. Could it be another reason – like we are having rotating browser crashes (like rotating black out sessions during war)?
Have no idea, VC. This phenomenon has happened only once before (earlier version of Firefox, btw) and that was the other time the “Like” WP feature was activated. That’s the only correlation in my experience. It’s really annoying because I have 14 tabs active with various work tasks so it means having to reload all of them and in some instances login to various accounts.
Sorry, Bobfr! I can imagine how frustrating this has been as I get really ticked when mine crashes and I don’t usually have anything work related open. It irritates me when it happens because I don’t know what’s causing it and therefore can’t attempt to fix or work around it. A crashed, or frozen, computer is what sent me away from the village early for the past two nights, and earlier this morning. Then when I came on after waiting a few hours today, It kicked me out twice, then it’s been trudging along okay since. π
Lots of frustration, VC! Am quite empathetic, for sure. I’ve determined what triggers it to begin convulsing. If I right click anywhere near the ‘like’ – it causes the browser to freeze and rapidly flash thereby requiring me to force quit. So, I’ll try to remember not to right click (which I do, typically, to select ‘reload’ to refresh the page).
A couple of pieces of info here that I hadn’t realized. TY . a) My browser did flash rapidly a couple of times before freezing last night and the night before. However for me there was no ‘like’ button.
b) I never realized that I could refresh the page by using right click + reload. Now i know.
Bob, I am glad to hear that I am not alone! My browser crushed too after I clicked on the ” blue star like” button. I am definitely not going to click on it again.
Look at the jackass at the end of the table Mr. President; look at him…….I know pretty disgusting, but he’s not a bad arrsss after all.
He’s just a damn cry baby wanting all of your attention.
President Obama: please, please don’t, I am trying not to laugh at the jerk. Should I just slide him a pacifier?
He has a face like some of the kids I’ve dealt with in class; 1st they pout and of course I laugh, and then the fake crying starts. I will tell “ooops man Perry” what I tell the students……..SUCK IT UP AND GET TO WORK!
This picture of him should circulate through twitter universe; #whatdoyouthinktheysaidaboutPerry?
CNN, is this Obama worse political crisis? No I thought it was the rollout of Obamacare, the debt limit not being raise, the Government closing, Benghazi,VA, IRA, Syria, Ukraine, oil leak on Gulfcoast it seem every other month the Republicans and the media have a worse political crisis for Obama. This is the favor of the month for the media.
Amazing man is PBO – he gives credit to Gov Perry for his requests – agrees they are needed – and as always wants the win/win. This is NOT a win/lose President – he really wants bipartisan government
He is steadfast on looking after the children, solving the issues that are sending them here and passing immigration reform. The media is keen on politicizing the issue – sending him to the border and asking stupid questions
PBO, I am so in love with you! β€ β€ β€ Do you guys see how our President is handling the questions! God, we. are. so. fortunate. to have THIS president in office – a leader who knows, and understands what he's doing.
This was one of the first thing that attracted me to BHO – the fact that he speaks to #Wethepeople live we have brains. Another first thing π was that he knows his ‘stuff’. I have never gotten a sense that he was trying to put one over on us. β€ β€ The president/leader I've been waiting for all my political life – to show me that there is more to politics than greed and chicanery!.
That is also what attracted me to him. His message, his life story, and how he lives his life are all real. So thankful to be alive during his Presidency.
“Congress said they want a solution” – that about covers it – “politics versus solving the problems”.
“I’m not interested in photo-ops – I’m interested in solving the problems”
Press asking typical dumb political questions – not asking about the children, not asking about solving the problem – just interested in politics!
Don’t know why the press bother being there – asking the President “are you interested in compromise” – what she means is – “will you resign and let the GOP take over” – cause that is what the GOP and the media call compromise.
I agree with your comment, 99.
The follow-up will be all about what PBO didn’t say enough of, or something silly.
Unless and until Tweety writes PBO’s speeches he and the rest of the bought off motherf—ers of the MSM will crticize POTUS’ every words said and unsaid. Hate is the poison they are living on rather than oxygen.
Exactly, 99ts! One of the biggest problem facing America is our unethical media, which are so pre-occupied with hype, sensationalism and parroting Republican talking points.
To the Point. Clear. Factually delivered…..No Drama…..Just the Facts, WHPC
Is there any wonder the 98% who cover this President are so inadequate? Is there any wonder why Perry looked like he ran out of gas…..or rather, if full of Gas π
Thanks for the info, the like button doesn’t work for me either….. Twitty was just out of gate… “goto the border. Didn’t they hear him say, he had met with the faith-based leaders about their great compassion, etc, who needs the president, clogging up the process with security sweeps etc?
I do have to somewhat agree with Joy Ann. President Obama may have a bit of allergies or something but I detected a bit of a gasp in his breath a couple times. It scared the hell out of me at first. Let’s hope and pray he is not wearing himself out with all the concerns. He is after all a human with a tremendous amount of responsibility. Kai Rysdal from NPR interviewed him recently and gave a very fine review of same on radio, but detected that PBO is tired of the constant fights he has to endure with the recalcitrant (VP Biden’s word) congress. After a while bullshit is just that…..bullshit, and too much of it just stinks.
Maybe Joy was mistaking his sober tone for being worn out. Maybe he is tired but he is allowed to be because he’s human. We all have our periods when things wear on us; especially fighting the opposition he has for the last 6 years.
I watched the entire speech too. He is not worn out…..he is remarkably calm!
We clearly heard him put it on Perry: “You undoubtedly have some influence with the Texas House delegation and Senate delegation, get them to work together on this and pass the supplemental, and then to pass the CIR.” It is really on Congress…….Perry wanted a “one-on-one” and he got one, and I believe he got schooled too.
PBO was gracious in mentioning Perry’s four concerns and how they can be addressed, and time and again coming back to Congress passing the supplemental for immediate concerns, and the CIR for long term problems.
I don’t know what Chris heard……does he ever listen? PBO pretty well dealt with the border visit…..”not interested in photo-ops.” Also, I understand the SS has some say on where he goes, and that would not be good. Jeh Johnson will be going for his SIXTH visit this weekend, and as PBO said, he is intimately acquainted with the situation.
Rachel had one of the people involved in providing shelter for the children on her program the other night, he is a Dallas County Judge. I imagine he was in the meeting with the President. Notice, he was very complimentary of Dallas and their compassion and concern and plans. The present mayor of Dallas is the son of a friend of mine, a man of integrity, and I am not surprised that Dallas is stepping up. That office is a totally nonpartisan one too. The mayoral candidates do not run on party, which is good.
I thought the questions were okay and dealt with the situation. I think these were Texas reporters, not the national ones, because they stayed on topic. Of course one had to ask about the “border photo-op” but, naturally he handled that well.
None of the Press LISTEN to what the President says – they are too busy thinking about what they will say next, which is NEVER related to what the President has just said.
I have a couple of dear relatives who are exactly the same – they look while I am talking & their next remark goes right back to where they were when they last said something. If you call them on it, they treat you as if you are crazy.
I didn’t think much of the questions (I did miss the last one) but the others were very politically inspired and asked nothing about the children or the solution and showed no insight into the how and why of what is happening. PBO was very clear – issues in other countries are causing this to happen.
Our excuse for a PM has gutted foreign aid – so we add to the worldwide refugee problem by giving no help to our less wealthy neighbors. Sad.
No, Joy. Dave has this right.
Robert Burns wrote a moving poem that applies here, “Just for a handful of silver he left us.
Just for a ribbon to pin on his vest.”
It’s been 1/2 a century since I’ve read this and I may have gotten the quote or even the poet wrong. But you can get the idea, i think.
Robert Browning perhaps? I went looking because the poems of Burns – with the Scottish words – not usually so “english” π – Wonderful memory Vicki – thank you for this
Just for a handful of silver he left us,
Just for a riband to stick in his coatβ
Found the one gift of which fortune bereft us,
Lost all the others she lets us devote;
They, with the gold to give, doled him out silver,
So much was theirs who so little allowed:
How all our copper had gone for his service!
Ragsβwere they purple, his heart had been proud!
We that had loved him so, followed him, honoured him,
Lived in his mild and magnificent eye,
Learned his great language, caught his clear accents,
Made him our pattern to live and to die!
I see others have commented on this—-but we—mr. dotster and I were so impressed with President Obama’s statement and answers to questions—–again the “only adult in the room”—as always——so common sense and clear on every detail and Repub irony. And then–we hear the complete nonsense by Tweety & Co.——he should go to the border—–what utter nonsense——and that he looked so tired, downtrodden, conflicted. WHAT???? None of that was true. Zero. That must have been a planned response before they even heard PBO speak—–because it was so removed from the reality we just witnessed with our own eyes. Mr. dotster said Tweety is just an actor, just goes with whatever he considers the current, political flow———no core beliefs or integrity, no real concern for truth, just playing a game. President Obama is so far above any of these jerks by every measure.
I was curious what they would say, and instead of seeing a president who is dealing with the problem and offering solutions, AND putting the onus back on the republicans, they comment on the theatrics again. Idiots!!
Maybe it’s just me cause POTUS did just fine to me and he didn’t look all that tired. Maybe it’s just me. Let me look at the statement again, watch it closely.
I am currently only watching Rev Al, Rachel and Lawrence. No more Joy, Ed, Matthews etc for quite awhile now. It has improved my mood a lot. Sounds to me like Joy and Spittle have both been advancing the GOP MSNBC station owners talking points the same as the Fox Commentators.
I read that earlier df – I had NO idea that all these mortgage transfers were done without going through the normal procedures. I well remember our original property deed (sadly now on computer) with all the stamps as to who had the mortgageand whether there were any “right of ways” etc. We changed our mortgage company in the 90s and had to pay the fees and the new people held the deed.
That these people bypassed the legal requirements is mind boggling – without thinking about the money that should have been paid! That a financial institution could “sell off” my mortgage without my knowledge is even more mind boggling. No wonder the economy collapsed. Excluding the 1%, property is the major investment of most people – and it was treated as a packet of candy!
Ah yes! See how well they all “regulate themselves when no one is paying attention?” Not only that, but every time a mortgage was transferred or sold, it was supposed to pay money to the county recorders as fees…they were never paid to these individual counties ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. They rigged the system and screwed, not just the homeowners, but the county recorders in every county in every state! HUGE MONEY OWED TO THESE COUNTIES!!
In 2012, Republicans tried to pass the Blunt Amendment β legislation that would allow employers and insurance companies to deny women’s health care services β even birth control β based on any vague moral objection.
When the Blunt Amendment failed, the Republicans resorted to hostage-taking. Remember last year’s government shutdown that nearly tanked our economy? That all started with a GOP threat to get Democrats to change the law so employers could deny coverage for birth control.
When Democrats wouldn’t cave and the government shutdown backfired, the Republicans turned to their conservative friends on the United States Supreme Court β five justices who are among the top ten most pro-corporate justices to serve in the last half-century β to do what Congress and the American people would not: give corporations rights to determine women’s access to health care coverage.
We cannot stand by while the radical right of our country conducts a full-scale assault on women’s rights and basic health care.
Many of you commented on the picture of the President laughing with the Dallas Mayor, Mike Rawlings. He is a man of integrity and wisdom. The mayor’s job is not a partisan one in Dallas, and I have a feeling PBO enjoyed being with him. I knew his mother well. She died of cancer, and spent a miserable last six months. He took care of her in his home. He is a fine man. I knew he would be at the meeting. Also, the Dallas County Judge who was on Rachel’s show, I’m sure was there. He spearheaded the effort to find shelter and homes for the children in Dallas.
I understand the negative feelings expressed here about Texas…..we’ve had too many crazy politicians from there, really awful ones. However, remember there is a huge swath of blue in Texas, from Houston, to Austin to San Antonio, and yes much of Dallas. Not Fort Worth. It is very red.
But, remember, there are many people like my children who live in Texas, who are not crazy rightwingers, so, when people say “Let Texas secede” I get a bit testy. Dallas has been good to our son. He moved there in 1997 with a company, made good money, then that company folded, but he went out on his own……and built a successful company building and maintaining computer networks for attorneys, doctors and dentists in North Dallas.
As more people move to Texas from the North, East and Far West, the nature of the state is gradually changing, for the better.
Thanks for sharing your personal connection to Texas. It’s easy to paint everyone with the same brush when there are so many like Bush or Perry from that state.
Thanks, Carolyn. People forget that we have been home to some wonderful Dems like Barbara Jordan, Ann Richards, Jim Hightower and the incomparable Molly Ivins. Sadly, the teanuts have taken over but there are more Dems than most folks realize.
nclb I used to work for the TX Comptrollers office in Los Angeles back in the 80’s. Texas was cool back then totally a DEM state and it will be again soon. I so glad that there are some good people in TX that are helping these refugee children.
Thanks for the information Carolyn. I have wonderful friends who live in Texas and are very caring and loving people. Also Dems. I also have friends who live there and are the PBO hating Repubs. I try to give Texas a break but sometimes this Governor doesn’t help. Thank goodness for your children and friends who keep up the fight.
Great speech. I like the way POTUS put the ball in the GOP hand. Up to them to make a slam dunk or fall flat on their faces. I can see a lot of scared noses in the future. They will never learn. What a shame
Testing. π
I’m good! π
Hi CarolMae! Nice to see you, but why are you lurking in the shadows?
You passed and congrats on 1st, VC!!!

Look at Rick Perry’s face, they must be using big words.
Perry don’t look like he got the joke.
He is a joke!
Rick Perry’s face – LMAO! This is the GOP every time President Obama calls their bluff. ‘Oh, you want a meeting? Okay.’ LMAO!!
That picture has completely made my day!!!

POTUS is laughing at the fool from TX π
This may be the funniest picture I have ever seen. This is how the entire GOP/MSM feel about themselves in relation to Our President.

Oh good tweet Bob!

This is a ticking time bomb…….
I like the like button, because I like being liked.
OK, I need to stop now.
White house feed is wonky; switched to c-span. PBO went there on the House’s lack of action.
Yes, Yes, Yes. President Obama asked Rick Perry to use his influence with the GOP Texas delegation to get his concerns addressed.
Hola! So Chipsticks I’ve seen this LIKE button a few times. I likey like. However it keeps going away. π¦ Is it here to stay this time?
β€ it
Amazing man is PBO – he gives credit to Gov Perry for his requests – agrees they are needed – and as always wants the win/win. This is NOT a win/lose President – he really wants bipartisan government
Indeed
What’s PBO saying? I’m on reference so can’t watch.
He’s telling them all to go to hell….figuratively. Damn.
He is steadfast on looking after the children, solving the issues that are sending them here and passing immigration reform. The media is keen on politicizing the issue – sending him to the border and asking stupid questions
THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA-visiting the border is nothing more than theatrical politics and photo-ops!
AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THIS!
The Righties are now standing there with their cajones buried in hot sand! I’m luvin’ it!
“Let’s just get it done !!!”……..PBO. Hear that, miscreants ?
Oh snap ! When did TOD get a LIKE button? Thanks Chips. Now I may know if anyone reads my comments π
Not exactly. i hit star and nothing happens.
It will show up as Liked by you. Eventually shows up if someone liked what you said.
I hit star and got an annoying pop up that would not stop. I had to shut down and restart.
Yep. me too.
Can I give you 1000 likes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s the best tweet.
Right on tweet, LL! I would have loved to give you hundreds of likes, except when I click the blue like star my browser immediately crushes.
PBO, I am so in love with you! β€ β€ β€ Do you guys see how our President is handling the questions! God, we. are. so. fortunate. to have THIS president in office – a leader who knows, and understands what he's doing.

Our treasure, LadyH, and that’s really nice to know and accept! π
That is also what attracted me to him. His message, his life story, and how he lives his life are all real. So thankful to be alive during his Presidency.
Yes, MtM, I am *very* thankful….to be alive during … π
Well said, VC! President Obama is absolutely amazing! At 68, and almost 69, President Obama is, without a doubt, the best president in my lifetime.
Hel-lo, Nathk! In between my naps one of these nights, I’ll sign on just to say ‘hi’ in *your* real time. π
“Congress said they want a solution” – that about covers it – “politics versus solving the problems”.
“I’m not interested in photo-ops – I’m interested in solving the problems”

Ours was the same until we got a right wing government – now they are discovering it isn’t quite as rosy as they thought
Let’s see how much pull Rick Perry has with the Texas delegation. The ball is in their court.
But Perry said; do it ”WITHOUT” Congress.
Ahhhhh………they will be eating their own in a matter of time.
I would love to see Rick Perry’s expression right now after President Obama dispensed a bit of truth.
It’s still PBO’s fault per Chris Matthews and cronies.-smh
Of course I changed the channel. They MUST have this be bad for him….”Oh, he looked so tired…”. Big BS to the bastards.
I’m pissed.
I muted him immediately because his first comment was ” PBO should go to the border “
PBO should go to the border should be replace with “GOP should pass the supplemental”
IT’S NOT JUST THE SUNDAY SHOWS.
Yup.
Only people who watch Matthews are PBO supporters – he sure knows how to get his ratings down to zero
I wasn’t quick enough with the remote.

Is there any wonder the 98% who cover this President are so inadequate? Is there any wonder why Perry looked like he ran out of gas…..or rather, if full of Gas π
Off to eat something.
What the hell is wrong with Chris Matthews and his guest tonight?
They are reactionaries. They react to all the GOP talking points.
Chris is a nut. We should simply relish PBO’s speech. That.Is.All.
Exactly!!!!! I refuse to be taken into their darkness. We already know what they are going to say before they say it, so why watch.
When you figure that one out let me know. π―
They white and right !!
My nephew was a Border Patrol Agent in AZ for 8 years. He is now a Special Agent with ICE on the northern border.
They hate it when politicians show up ……

I have had it with her…..
SHE IS ONE OF THE REST OF THEM; contrary to popular beliefs, ZEBRAS DO CHANGE THEIR STRIPES.
Exactly, Cindy! This is really a shame because I had so much respect for her.
Does she really think that PBO is listening to all of their whining and criticizing? PNO is a focused President.
Oops meant “PBO”.
PLEASE LET THE PEOPLE SAY; AAAAMMMMEEEENNNN!
AMEN!!
Amen!!!
This is sad, Joy. We all used to admire you and cheer when you were on as a guest.

It’s time for a big tot o’ Rhum!
YOU GO, sailor!!
Yup. Gotta get ready for me eye surgery in the morning.
Ah. Very best to you!
Thank you.
Wishing you all the best, yardarm!

Our excuse for a PM has gutted foreign aid – so we add to the worldwide refugee problem by giving no help to our less wealthy neighbors. Sad.
Excellent comment, Carolyn!

The Lost Leader
By Robert Browning
Just for a handful of silver he left us,
Just for a riband to stick in his coatβ
Found the one gift of which fortune bereft us,
Lost all the others she lets us devote;
Wow, thanks 99. A wonderful look at betrayal.
Hi Prettyfoot, Dave Frost is absolutely spot-on! Thank you for sharing his tweet.
greetings Nath Indeed!
Idiots!!
I’m going to say what I never thought I would say to Joy Reid. “F” Joy Reid. She has become like the others two bit cable pudits
Now that she has her show, she isn’t the Joy I liked so much.
All Chris Matthews kept talking about was how tired POTUS looked, and he should go to the border. I got up got my remote and turn the freaking tv.
For anyone that had issues with foreclosure during the Great Recession..THIS IS POTENTIALLY EXCELLENT NEWS!

Breaking News: Federal Judge Rules Against MERS
It’s a BFD!
More explanation: http://www.philly.com/philly/business/20140709_Pa__counties_could_reap_big_bucks_from_ruling_on_mortgage_registry.html
Our registration is done by State (for a fee) – I don’t know if similar happened here – but they may be lookin’.
FUCKING,NASTY,SENILE, ENTITLED IDIOT!!!

He needs to retire. He is really going over the edge. Although I doubt anyone can tell him to do anything.
Tweety just needs to be muzzled, and carted off to the Pounds with his bucket of spit strapped to his rear, and never heard from again.
ha. ha.
bye.
Consider signing to show support for Dem bill to counter Hobby Lobby ruling. Tweetable??
http://m.elizabethwarren.com/blog/our-new-bill-to-fight-hobby-lobby
Remember??
More tragic gun violence—-7 shot, 5 dead at a home near Houston, Tx.
O MY GOSH; say it ain’t so. What is going on – when will it stop?

Great speech. I like the way POTUS put the ball in the GOP hand. Up to them to make a slam dunk or fall flat on their faces. I can see a lot of scared noses in the future. They will never learn. What a shame
