WOW! That is the funniest pic. I would really love to know what was happening when that photo was snapped–although my imagination is coming up with some awfully funny scenarios.

OMG – hilarious!! Molly Ivins, Ann Richardson, & Barbara Jordan are smiling down on our President with Governor Dumbass. Dan Rather should come up with a Texas aphorism for that scene.

Good luck with that – eye docs are my least favorite medicos – mainly because of the never ending wait wait – and the excessive cost. I guess eyes are important – cause we wait and pay.

Oh, 99ts, it’s a tough competition for least favorite. The eye doctor doesn’t come close to the audiologist for me because I hate, hate, hate having hearing tests with their always depressing results. But this week, the very top of my list is the dental surgeon. Next month it will be my GP. I always have warm feelings about doctors when I don’t visit them.

“I always have warm feelings about doctors when I don’t visit them” – Isn’t that so true!

I do, however, love my GP – the rest I would like to avoid.

Do hope things are recovering on the tooth front. I look back in fondness at the years 20-50 when everything seemed to work and doctors were the parents problems!

Best of luck, to you sailor.

You’ll be seeing better than any of us after your surgery (I’ve mentioned before that a former co-worker couldn’t stop talking about how clear his vision was after cataract surgery. I think it must be like the first time us four-eyes got glasses — wow, I can see individual blades of grass now!)

Maybe I’m seeing something that wasn’t there, but yesterday President Obama used Gov. Perry to beat back all of his critics clamoring for him to do something about the crisis at the border. I’m starting to wonder if President Obama is really this good. In one twenty-minute press conference President put Gov. Perry and the entire Texas delegation and the Republican Party in a box. If they approve the supplement then President Obama would be credited with solving border crisis, if they deny the supplement then the Republican Party will look like partisan hacks. I really shouldn’t be shocked at what happened yesterday, I mean after all, President Obama has been eating the Republican’s lunch since day one.

    • 48 99ts
      July 10, 2014 at 8:50 am

What is always true – President Obama wants a WIN/WIN – he gave all credit to Gov Perry – the media put it as “Gov Perry tells the President what to do” – PBO simply wants the job done – If the GOP in congress helped in anyway what could be achieved is more than most would ever have dreamed.

PBO “eats the Republicans lunch” because they make it for him – they are losing any support they may have had with every passing day. SCOTUS, thinking they are helping the GOP, are actually helping the demise of same.

      July 10, 2014 at 8:52 am

Don, I have no doubt in the world that the president is that good and then some. He is without peer in political maneuvering and he knows exactly what he’s doing. Perry did not have the smallest clue what he was setting himself up for and he probably still doesn’t. And the president does it all with such a reasonable, pleasant demeanor, it’s as if he’s totally innocent of the jujitsu he employing on them all. Meantime, the GOP and their media arm are left wondering what just happened to them. If Barack Obama had set out to be a professional chess player, he would have become a world champion. So glad he chose the political world instead. He’s playing a master game and we can just all stand in awe of him.

Preach sister! Your comments are perfect, President Obama is cold-blooded. You don’t rise up through the Chicago machine and defeat the Clinton machine and the Republican machine (twice) without being cold-blooded.

Perry meets the President on the tarmac.

The President addresses the elephant in the room, “no need for me to go to the border just for a photo opt, I know what’s happening, I’m interested in results”.

      • July 10, 2014 at 9:13 am

I always think of him as a great poker player (which he is by all accounts). He reads people so well and has a way of upping the ante or calling the bluff at just the right time. Whether chess or poker or both, it is pretty incredible to watch how he keeps playing them.

    • July 10, 2014 at 9:22 am

      I think it’s called rope-a-dope.

It’s also used in Far East martial arts — is it jujitsu where you capitalize on the momentum created by the aggressor against that person, which evens the playing field for tiny persons against giants?

Of course President Obama’s calm demeanor to attacks drives RWNJ even crazier and encourages even more outrageous claims, which sadly are then repeated like the propaganda parrots they have become.

Love the saying, “give ’em enough rope…”

In Brooklyn, when I was growing up (dinosaurs still were roaming the earth) we had an expression ‘laying chickie” which roughly translated meant “ambush.”
That ancient expression deeply buried in my memory came back to me in 2007 when I observed Senator Obama’s manner of dealing with one opponent after another.
Good luck to any and all who oppose Our President. They will lose.

He really is that good. And he did with such ease and aplomb that it may take some time for the media and the GOP to realize what just happened. They are not quick studies. This sentence pretty much sums up yesterday.

Fewer Americans than forecast filed applications for unemployment benefits last week, a sign the job market continues to strengthen. …

This is consistent with strong gains in consumer spending. …

But Rep. Van Hollen, they can’t pass unemployment benefits, pass a jobs bill, which would put people back to work fixing our roads and bridges, but they can hold votes to repeal Obamacare 50 times, investigate Benghazi for the 100th time, it seem like a 100 times A waste of taxpayers money..

Germany asks CIA station chief to leave over spy row

Germany took the dramatic step Thursday of asking the top U.S. intelligence official in Berlin to leave the country, following two reported cases of suspected U.S. spying and the yearlong spat over eavesdropping by the National Security Agency.

The move reflects growing impatience in Germany at what is perceived as U.S. nonchalance about being caught spying on a close ally

It is my hope that the moles are keeping a very low profile. Some of them might be in their teen-age years.

Merkel and her flock make me laugh. What about those spies she has around here and everywhere?
