“President Barack Obama will be on hand at the upcoming event in Washington, while the 2014 honorees are saluted … ”

Thus guaranteeing a large viewership at the Kennedy Center Honors!

Along with seeing who are the honorees, I watch to see what the wonderful First Lady will be wearing wearing. She has not disappointed me so far. I never used to watch the Kennedy Center Honors before President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama came to the White House.

So Chuckie snagged PBO to give his inaugural MTP a ratings shot in the arm….Hmm..I want PBO to SCHOOL that toad.

    • September 4, 2014 at 9:53 pm

Questions in chuck Todd’s email basket from Kochs, RNC, and John Boner:
Why haven’t you fixed racial tensions in America?
Why haven’t you won the war on terror?
What’s the deal with the tan suit ?
Where are the jobs Mr President?

I’m not watching, either. But the President – who isn’t worried about the likes of Chuckie – will go anywhere appropriate to get his message out to Americans. Can’t wait to hear about (since I won’t be watching) the scared look on Chuckie’s face when he realizes he’s got nothing much to ask (without help) and nothing at all to offer (without help).

        C. Todd will be wearing a pair of Depends, as how can he look President Obama in the eyes, knowing the trash he has spewed regularly for years, knowing he has lied about the greatest president we have ever known.

          September 4, 2014 at 11:16 pm

You know, Pamela, when you ask how can Chuckie Toad ‘look President Obama in the eyes, knowing the trash he has spewed…’ you make me think you are ascribing real emotions, including shame, to an individual who has demonstrated none, IMO. Toad will look PBO in the eye, and likely ask a few more stupid questions with a straight face because IMO he IS that stupid…and ignorant…..and easily GOP manipulated.

    • September 5, 2014 at 9:18 am

I think that the President will use any avenue that he has to get his message across…..so i will watch….

WASHINGTON (AP) — Imagine. The argument over President Barack Obama’s legal authority to defer deportations begins 42 years ago with a bit of hashish, a dogged lawyer and, yes, John Lennon and Yoko Ono. President Richard Nixon was seeking re-election, “American Pie” was leading the pop charts and Lennon was in New York facing deportation from a Nixon administration eager to disrupt the famous ex-Beatle’s planned concert tour and voter registration drive. The case hinged on Lennon’s 1968 conviction for possession of “cannabis resin” in London. Lennon was eager to at least delay his deportation so Ono could fight for custody of her 9-year-old daughter by a previous husband. Lennon and Ono approached Leon Wildes, a lawyer young enough that he shouldn’t have had to ask a colleague, “Tell me, who is John Lennon?” He had grown up in a small town in Pennsylvania coal country, and “I was not into that kind of music,” he says.

But he knew his immigration law. In time, the effort to extend Lennon’s stay in the United States would become an integral part of the legal foundation the Obama administration relied on in 2012 to set up a program that has deferred the deportation of more than 580,000 immigrants who entered the country illegally as children. “All I can say is, John Lennon is smiling in his grave,” Wildes said in an interview. “He helped accomplish that.”…..…Until the Lennon case, the Immigration and Naturalization Service had not acknowledged it used its own discretion in deciding whom to deport. But through the Freedom of Information Act, Wildes discovered 1,843 instances in which the INS had invoked such prosecutorial discretion as part of a secret program for “non-priority” cases. Once the program was revealed, the INS had no choice but to concede its existence and issued official guidance on how it would be applied…continued

For all the good news today, which was fabulous, I caught myself in an “Ahh Haa!” moment that was very disconcerting. I heard or read that Congress has set hearings on ISIL for two weeks from now, and mentally immediately discarded the news. Then I stopped. Since when would I completely discount hearings–even in the Senate–on something this important to the future of the US? OK, I understand why I no longer pay any attention to anything coming out of the House, but the Senate? My next thought was “But that means listening to the blowhards like Ted Cruz, John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell denigrating PBO”. The point of all this is this. The never ending BS being spewed by the Republicans affects ALL of us, and is incredibly insidious. In all of my years, I never in the past would have blown off hearings on an important topic as something I couldn’t stand to listen to. Think about that for a minute. If the never ending babble affects us this way, what in heavens name does it do to the folks who are far less involved in politics? And we wonder why these folks continuously vote against their own interests. I think today I had a glimmer of an answer. Between Fox and all of the other newstainers out there spewing their BS and damning PBO, their simply is no room for true political discourse left in this country. It is my personal belief that the Repubs have destroyed this country in so many ways in the last 30+ years, but this is worse. If there is no room for reasoned debate, where does that leave us as a country? I don’t have the answer at this point, although between Occupy Wall Street and the movement by the fast food workers, perhaps it will work itself out in the long run. For me personally, I will work harder to pay attention, sort the good from the bad, and use the mute button on my remote:-) But I think it is something we all need to be aware of. There is a price for this non-stop onslaught.

As much as I can not stand Chucky Todd, the only reason I would watch his show is because POTUS will be up there. You want to get me to watch your show, have President Obama and First Lady Obama up there.

I have the same feeling Annie but for people like Mr. Todd, their hate for this POTUS is personal, and when the hate is personal, it is very dangerous.

I think at least for 2014, September 4th is in the running. A quick recap:

1.) BP found grossly negligent and fined 18 billion.

2.) Gay marriage ruled constitutional in Indiana and Wisconsin.

3.) Bob McDonnell and wife found guilty and could spend a good hunk of time in the big house.

4.) Early voting changes that restricted ballot access blocked in Ohio.

5.) DC Republicans are so freaked out about the Kansas Senate race they are taking over on the ground.

6.) Obamacare legal challenge by shitburgers overturned.

7.) St. Louis County Executive apologizes for Ferguson episode and seems genuinely sorry and intent on making change.

8.) Thousands of fast food workers take to the street to demand a fair wage.

9.) Rand Paul, Ron Paul and Mitch McConnell’s wingnut tea party clown, Jesse Benton, has been subpoenaed in the Iowa bribery case.
