Republicans said that raising the minimum wage would cost jobs. Must just cost jobs here in the U.S.

Only place that that fiction is true is in their fantasy version of economics, Annie, as you know.

Increasing wages, for any except the hyper wealthy, means more money to spend and that’s what the majority of people. Increasing wages creates jobs, it doesn’t eliminate them.

Love this Dudette. On another topic, I notice that Nicole Wallace has grinned her way to a spot on the view. Rosie Perez will keep her in line.

Hi COS! I heard about Nicole Wallace (ugh!), but didn’t know about Rosie Perez. She’d make it worth watching — at least on reruns. Thanks for the heads up!

    NY primary contest heating up.
Business Insider has a story up that the “Protesters” following Zepyhr Teachout around have admitted that they are paid operatives of the Cuomo campaign.

Gov. 1% must be getting worried.

Zephyr and Tim Wu’s candidacies have been getting lots of positive press.

The Governor who gives NO interviews and refuses to debate, possibly because his collaboration with the NY (D) Senators who joined the (R) Senators to take control away from Dems.

Yeah, that guy doesn’t want to answer to the voters in any way.

In five days we will all see how well Andrew Cuomo’s strategy and tactics have worked out.

No—I have no prediction. And Yes, I prefer Zephyr and Tim to Andrew and Kathy(I am a conservative) Hochul.

Is Today One of the Greatest Days Ever?

    Sep 042014

I think at least for 2014, September 4th is in the running. A quick recap:

1.) BP found grossly negligent and fined 18 billion.

2.) Gay marriage ruled constitutional in Indiana and Wisconsin.

3.) Bob McDonnell and wife found guilty and could spend a good hunk of time in the big house.

4.) Early voting changes that restricted ballot access blocked in Ohio.

5.) DC Republicans are so freaked out about the Kansas Senate race they are taking over on the ground.

6.) Obamacare legal challenge by shitburgers overturned.

7.) St. Louis County Executive apologizes for Ferguson episode and seems genuinely sorry and intent on making change.

8.) Thousands of fast food workers take to the street to demand a fair wage.

9.) Rand Paul, Ron Paul and Mitch McConnell’s wingnut tea party clown, Jesse Benton, has been subpoenaed in the Iowa bribery case.

Thanks rikyrah. This is fabulous. I was hoping someone would make a comprehensive list of all the good news. You can imagine the “GOOD NEWS IS NO NEWS FOR OBAMA” media is apoplectic. That means they will just continue reporting incessantly on ISIS and asking why PBO hasn’t bombed Syria yet. smdh

Just watching Rachel – I didn’t realise that ex gov Bob McDonnell gave the reply to the state of the union when first election – that is a speech that NO republican should give – if they have further political goals.

Stated simply, most Americans have an irrational belief that Black men are dangerous, and this bias is especially prevalent among white Americans, including most white liberals and progressives.

Happy Birthday, Alycee! Feel better, Dudette…. 🙂 Poor Great Dane…48 socks??? WTH!

    Anyway, I like this:

Hoping to catch up with him on the status of his campaign to overturn the Citizens United decision through amending the Constitution — which he and his supporters call “The Stampede” — Salon spoke with Cohen recently via phone. Our conversation is below, and has been edited for clarity and length.

For those who don’t know already, could you tell us a bit about what “The Stampede” is and what you’re trying to achieve?

The Stampede is essentially a petition on steroids. We call it monetary Jiu-Jitsu. We’re using money to get money out of politics, and essentially we’re turning money into media.

The Stampede sells rubber stamps online, essentially at cost, and people buy one of those stamps and then they stamp messages on paper currency that says one of three major statements. One is “Not to be used for bribing politicians, amend the Constitution”; another is “Stamp money out of politics, amend the Constitution”; and another is “Not to be used for buying elections, amend the Constitution.”

The beauty of it is that, usually, if people want to make their voice heard in the political process, the most they can do is sign a petition that hopefully gets seen at some point by the petition’s target. In this situation, if you stamp a piece of money with your statement, 900 people see each bill that you stamp, as it gets put in circulation and passed from hand-to-hand. The numbers are kind of amazing: If one person stamps three bills a day for a year, that message gets seen by about a million people. It’s actually very powerful.

I had to watch Rachel Maddow tonight. I knew her opening segment would be on McDonnell and the verdict. She reminded me of something I had known, but forgotten.

McDonnell was offered a plea deal of one felony count, and would have spared his wife being charged.

    He declined the plea deal.

Is it me or is there a curse associated with giving the GOP’s rebuttal to PBO’s SOTU address? LOL!

2009: Bobby Jindal – became a national Joke; disappeared into relative obscurity considering how he was heralded to the be 2nd coming..
2010: Bob McDonnell – well we know how THAT turned out.
    2011: Michelle Bachmann – well yeah..DAMN joke…
2011: Paul Ryan- went on to help Willard LOSE the 2012 election
2012: Mitch Daniels – fades into complete and utter obscurity
    2013: Marco Rubio – Failed speech with water bottle and nerves. Is now a DAMN JOKE;
2014: Cathy McMorris – Must be hiding somewhere; don’t know where she is or what she’s doing. Another DAMN JOKE, and a liar at that.

2015: Now, who will be the brave volunteer? ROTFL…
