    So now we’re supposed to forget that most of Scalia’s opinions were written in a way in which he told the average citizen to fuck off.

    • February 14, 2016 at 8:09 am

      Good Morning, Don! Happy Valentine’s Day. Congrats on First! 😀

      Congrats on Don and Good morning Ms. Chips and all TODers.

      No Don we won’t forget. I was taught not to speak ill of the dead. HOWEVER, in this case all bets are off. He used the SCOTUS to further his own conservative opinions and NOT the law. He never voted for the rights of individuals over CORPORATIONS. I have no compunction about stating that he was instrumental in destroying the rights of the American people.

    I did not watch the debate last evening, but from what I’ve read in the tweets, they acted the fool last night. If ANY of them get the nomination, we know that the “saner” will hold their nose to vote for their nominee (which brings into question their sanity).

    Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family, I hope all is well with everyone this lovely Saturday morning. Congrats Don, on being first this morning.

    To all, I hope God’s grace, loving-kindness, and mercy is bestowed upon you today ❤ ❤❤

    Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America. ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆 ⭐🏆

    It should say Sunday. I still stuck in Saturday from all the drama yesterday regarding Scalia.

    It is bitterly, painfully cold this weekend, with high winds and temperatures in the low single digits. Yesterday the weather conditions were so bad there was a massive pileup on the interstate with three fatalities and long backups of cars with passengers who had to survive for hours in subzero temperatures since there was literally no way out. Winter is really wearing out its welcome.

      GM jackieg.

      Heard about that awful accident on the radio yesterday.

      Love PA, but if I lived there, I’d be a hermit in winter — have NO IDEA how to walk, let alone drive, in ice and snow.😦

      I’ve said repeatedly climate change is here now.

      LA marathon is today (used to be later in year — Mar or Apr I think) but because of climate change, our Februarys are no longer cool for runners. Forecast high in LA is 83 today — it’s been hot all week😦 ):

          Love @jonfavs’ and @presssec’s fierce loyalty.

          I will be among the most shocked if either of these men say anything negative to the press about PBO and the First Family after Jan 2017.

          Also think PBO will spend a lot of time in CA/HI during winter months and think he and @jonfavs will be hangin’ out quite a bit then.

      My understanding is that there are 7 states with GOP Senators up for reelection which voted for President Obama in 2012:
      FL (Senator is retiring)
      IL
      IA
      NH
      OH
      PA
      WI

      Dems in these (and neighboring states) need to do their best to elect a Dem senator this Fall, which I think they will, once PBO and @VP are again on the campaign trail.

      (Shame on Dems in these states who sat out the 2010 elections and allowed these blue states to be represented by the crazy party.)

      • February 14, 2016 at 9:56 am

        Here’s a list:

        SENATORS UP FOR RE-ELECTION IN 2016

        DEMOCRATS
        Michael Bennet (Colorado)
        Richard Blumenthal (Connecticut)
        Barbara Boxer (California) retiring in 2016
        Patrick Leahy (Vermont)
        Barbara Mikulski (Maryland) retiring in 2016
        Patty Murray (Washington)
        Harry Reid (Nevada) retiring in 2016
        Brian Schatz (Hawaii)
        Charles Schumer (New York)
        Ron Wyden (Oregon)

          Love the poetic justice in this, if Rubio’s FL Senate seat goes to a Dem, tipping the Senate to majority Dem in 2017.😀

          Not gonna beat a dead horse (because of push-back here last night), but I still think this is true:

          As I said last night, know nothing about Sandoval’s positions, other than he is pro-choice and IMHO the two biggest threats to the US from federal judicial perspective is Roe v. Wade and VRA.

          And the GOP infighting that results between Bush, Cruz and Rubio will be a delicious thing to behold.

          Stand back, behold PBO #BucketList

        • February 14, 2016 at 10:32 am

          This certainly makes it reasonable to assume they won’t want to risk these seats by trying to damage the Supreme
          Court but I think they left ‘reasonable’, ‘sensible’, ‘strategic’, ‘sane’ behind a long time ago. Their hatred for the black man and their fury at his amazing success is so overpowering that I wonder if they can act rationally now. After all they’ve pulled a lot of other crap and paid no penalty for it, which has just reinforced their vindictiveness.

  21. February 14, 2016 at 9:23 am

    So we know what the Republicans would do if it was a Republican President in his final year and he had to replace a Supreme Court Judge, he would do his duty he was elected to do. So that is what President should and will do. Now we will see if the Republican Senators will do they job, we have seen for seven years that they are all to willing to not do a dam thing. Remember filibusters.

    • February 14, 2016 at 9:40 am

      These Republicans hate President Obama more then they respect and honor the Senate or this country. Those six idiots on stage last night I guess it didn’t cross their clueless mind that the next President could be Hillary or Bernie and with them having control of the Senate.

    I think that this is now an opportunity for all those dem voters who have been telling the world that they “need a revolution” to stand up and start demonstrating their revolutionary powers by pushing the gop-led senate to vote for Scalia’s SCOTUS replacement;

    the cornerstone argument of the PBO-detractors on the left has been that they will make “better change” because they can mobilize and fight the status quo;

    …… well here is a golden opportunity in a critical time of the campaign to make show the world their commitment as revolutionaries;

    ….. I think we should find a way to ask them aspiring revolutionaries to step up now and provide that much-needed political fight with the gop status quo;

    …. never have the stakes been so much higher that in the coming SCOTUS fight, so let us see the revolution televised

  29. February 14, 2016 at 9:57 am

    One more thing, I do not want to hear the media talk as if this President has no right nominate another judge to the bench.

    You know what would be awesome at this point? Another conservative justice bites the dust (I’ll take conservative black supreme court justices for $400 Alex). Then we would have a 4/3 majority and McConnell would be forced to act.

    ///

    and it becomes a 6/3 majority in one stroke.😀
