Looks like Bernie underperformed in WY caucus. Delegate split may give him +1 or +2 net gain. It was supposed to have been a blow-out for Bernie. Didn’t happen.

Thanks for keeping us updated — we’re having “Oregon” weather in SoCal now, am spending quality time with my patio plants now, LOL (slow steady drizzle all day yesterday, then a few showers today, now overcast — such a blessed relief not having the sun relentlessly beating down).

BS thought he was meeting the Pope. It turns out he won’t. wasn’t invited by the Pope’s office, but instead to a Vatican supported conference.
    https://www.balloon-juice.com/2016/04/09/late-night-papal-bull-session-open-thread-b-b-b-bernie-and-the-pope/#comments
I think he was foolish, and so were his aides that arranged his invitation to the conference. The whole saga has turned apeshit, caused a diplomatic embarassment for the Holy See, etc. It is another demonstration that he is totally unfit for office of the president.

      GA/GE Wilson (or Michael?).

Saw this on Meta’s timeline and posted on the early duck (LOL) thread.

Don’t know who Dana Houle is though:

Her long series of tweets indicate it was Jeffrey Sachs’ ego that started this and the MSM (who think gossip, not verification) took the ball and ran with it.

What’s most galling about Berniebots is in their zeal to upend, they ignore the foundation PBO has painstakingly and graciously built for 7+ despite constant obstruction and sniping by GOP, MSM and the loony left. To me it feels as if Jeffrey Sacks, a professor at Columbia, has betrayed one of the most illustrious alums from that university.

      From February:

Yep, saw that from Al when he tweeted it and I thought this at the time as I do reading it again today:

“Us Obama Democrats are not going to vote for some fool with “Buyer’s Remorse” who wanted to primary him in 2012.”

      • April 9, 2016 at 8:12 pm

Amazing that his campaign didn’t verify first. They are really incompetent. I just saw a text from Tad Devine about how inspiring it was that 18-29 year olds had high turnout and went 87% for Sanders. I tweeted back that it was too bad they didn’t bother to vote for anyone else and so let that tea party judge get elected

Thanks Dudette for highlighting the birthday of one of the greatest people in our history. Mary McLeod Bethune, another one of our greats, said that Paul Robeson was the “Tallest Tree in Our Forest.” Gil Noble made a marvelous documentary of Paul Robeson’s life entitled: “The Tallest Tree in Our Forest.” I saw it way back in the 1970s or early 1980s.

Hi Nath! Thanks for the tip on the documentary. I haven’t seen it. Was hoping to find that documentary on YouTube. It’s not there, but Amazon has it for sale on DVD. I’d like to check it out and share it with my nephew.

Turns out there’s been a theatrical play of the same name, written about his life and performed across the country.

Bernie failed to make the threshold to get an 8-6 split in delegates in WY caucus, so it’s even 7-7, plus an additional 4 supers for Hillary. She comes away a winner. That 80-20 prediction turned out to be hot air.

Maybe one day POTUS will get the chance to play at Augusta, Ga. Not that I care about golf, but I was hoping Tiger would be back in time to play in the Masters this year. I want to see him make a comeback, he will never be as good as he once were, but good enough to win every now and then.

    April 9, 2016 at 6:50 pm

Yes I noticed the same thing with my evening news cast. They only reported that Sanders won Wyoming without giving the nuances of the delegate split, which is more important and relevant. Secondly, Sanders should have won by +30 or higher, but he didn’t, which means that he did not increase his lead relative to HRC’s with this “win.”

    • 73 arapaho415
      April 9, 2016 at 7:15 pm

      GE HF2.

Because it’s now standard operating procedure to treat the Presidential election as a horserace, MSM refuses to consider/report on anything except for what’s happening TODAY.

Reporting on Wyoming (least populous state) and completely ignoring the most populous state California is only what they serve up.

Think MSM is actually a bit daunted by the prospect of speculating on CA, which is geographically larger than all the northeast states combined with a wide spectrum of differences between urban/suburban/exurban CA and every other place else in the state.

My prediction is if CA is in play for both GOP and Dems, MSM “reporting” will be a zoo while FLOTUS is in Santa Fe (GenI commencement speech) and POTUS is in Asia. 😦

MSM is the definition of myopic.

I have sent tweets to all those who talk about Bernie’s win in WY. I said the win doesn’t matter, the delegates are split 7-7. Then I am told that Bernie will win Montana. I said winning the states isn’t what counts, it’s the delegates and Hillary is ahead there. Winning these states won’t move him ahead in delegates. This is the primary not the General Election. They don’t seem to care. They only talk about wins.

    • April 9, 2016 at 7:30 pm

Yeah, I was looking at the banner on CNN, saying that Sanders gains 7 delegates…makes it seem as if he had a net gain of 7 as opposed to a net gain of zero. Of course that lines up better with Sanders “wins”

    I can’t stand that punk!

Instead of doing his job, the people’s job, he spends his tax-payer time on a personal crusade against the POTUS.

And PBO has used executive orders much less than GOP Presidents – but Ryan spends time on this – instead of time doing his job. The GOP house leaders go from bad to worse.

Hmmm… I guess all Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan will look out the window, slap their heads and shout, “What were we thinking? Let’s write some legislation to remedy this now!”

I went to the page and can’t help but notice no mention of restoring the Voting Rights Act as part of “Democracy Spring”

Hope these people all march to the voting booth in 2018 as well.

        • April 9, 2016 at 8:11 pm

i undersatand the passion behind wanting to make changes…but i think that we have to use all avenues open to us…Congressman Lewis …says that our vote is the most powerful no violent tool that we have…that is precious almost sacred!!!

The GOP recognizes how powerful the Vote is….that is why they are going out of their way to suppress the vote.

  50. April 9, 2016 at 8:35 pm

Now this would certainly be exciting if the President did this….

Here’s how that would work. The president has nominated Garland and submitted his nomination to the Senate. The president should advise the Senate that he will deem its failure to act by a specified reasonable date in the future to constitute a deliberate waiver of its right to give advice and consent. What date? The historical average between nomination and confirmation is 25 days; the longest wait has been 125 days. That suggests that 90 days is a perfectly reasonable amount of time for the Senate to consider Garland’s nomination. If the Senate fails to act by the assigned date, Obama could conclude that it has waived its right to participate in the process, and he could exercise his appointment power by naming Garland to the Supreme Court.
