Now this would certainly be exciting if the President did thisโ€ฆ.

Hereโ€™s how that would work. The president has nominated Garland and submitted his nomination to the Senate. The president should advise the Senate that he will deem its failure to act by a specified reasonable date in the future to constitute a deliberate waiver of its right to give advice and consent. What date? The historical average between nomination and confirmation is 25 days; the longest wait has been 125 days. That suggests that 90 days is a perfectly reasonable amount of time for the Senate to consider Garlandโ€™s nomination. If the Senate fails to act by the assigned date, Obama could conclude that it has waived its right to participate in the process, and he could exercise his appointment power by naming Garland to the Supreme Court.

      GE PF58.

Since PBO is a constitutional scholar, we know he was aware of all options available to him when considering Scalia’s replacement while also aware of the consequences of whatever path he decided to take.

Whatever happens, we know that he’s got this, and TODville will savor every moment of PBO’s actions and GOP’s self-destruction (in terms of legislative clout [in this Congress’ case: inaction].

    Okay, so what about this?

This past week I was in the D.C. Area, hoping to get a glimpse of the President and/or the First Lady. So, as I am leaving Washington on Thursday, I look on Facebook and see anafticle from my hometown newspaper: The true Citizen, stating
First Lady Visits Burke County Middle School in Waynesboro, Georgia to help students begin their spring garden!๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜ข, I went through all these emotions and then some. This is where I work, and where I I worship. SMH.

The President never misses the opportunity for a symbolic gesture, word, action, or deed – to make us all stop and think about holding onto our planet, our hearts and souls, and each other.

PF, I went on the TL for the Democracy March for Spring and it pretty much is the Bernie crowd. Cenk Uger is going to give a speech and a few other emoprogs. That is why there is nothing there about BLM or the rest of it. They are marching about Citizens United and I will lay odds about the “establishment” Hope I am wrong.

Me too. They started out with full respect for the other’s personal and professional life’s story but now have an even stronger bond with 8 years of a pressure filled job and lots of helping each other through the most difficult times. To think that it’s actually more common for POTUS and VP relationships to become strained – if not broken. Look at the way these relationships ended; Clinton and Gore, Bush and Cheney, Reagan and Bush, Nixon and Agnew. Instead our two guys have grown closer as the years have gone on.

    Donna Dem,
I’m going to be in DC for a conference Tues and Wed (actually going to The Hill on Wed) and have Thursday as a vacation day – I would love to meet up for lunch or dinner if you have any free time. Let me know and I can DM you on Twitter.

I never heard of this young man before my eyes fell on this tweet about him, and my first thought when I saw his name: “Lawd ha mercy, that child’s momma has named him after Richard Chamberlain’s character on The Thornbirds – but effed it up with some ‘creative’ spelling! No. It can’t be. C’mon!”

Since he’s a pro ball player, I figured there must be something about him on Wikipedia. Well, whadduya know? ๐Ÿ™„

“Ferguson’s given name was inspired by Father Ralph de Bricassart, a fictional character in the 1977 novel The Thorn Birds.”

Oh Dudette, I’m just reading this now before bed and my abs hurt from laughing. I read your comment and thought “no… that would be hilarious but….no…” I remember the Thornbirds from when I was little. OMG that’s lol funny that that poor child’s mom did that and even funnier that you, not only called it but also, followed up by researching your theory ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you ever seen Key and Peele’s stuff on college players’ names? The best part about it is that I saw them interviewed about how they wrote the skit and they said that one of them wrote down an actual list of players names from a game and the bit just wrote itself.

LOL! Haven’t kept up with Key & Peele. That was great! Thanks for the chuckle this morning, MS! SMH with some of these made up names people come up with for their kids. ๐Ÿ˜€

Felt like hearing a little more Frankie Beverly & Maze. Was looking for something romantic since POTUS has returned home after being away for a while. I thought of this song,”We Are One” and instead of a live version, I happened upon this gem of a video slideshow of photos from the civil rights era (including one of Paul Robeson, born on this day in 1898, participating in a march) and some more recent photos of folks you’ll recognize. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, fuck! this is wrong on so many levels. Where is that child’s mother and what kind of person allows their child to be used in such a way? A man who has shown no care for any child other than his own and now this? I almost threw up in my mouth. This is an awful contrast to the beauty of #ObamaandKids in which there are hundreds of examples of the mutual love between PBO and all kids over many years. Look at how he is holding this baby; it looks painful. OMG, I need to leach my eyes out with soothing pictures of PBO and kids.
