I hope our President finally got a nice cool drink of water and/or some tea to ease that cough.

    GE TODville.

This Asian American Pacific Islander shindig holds special significant this year (not just because it’s the last one with PBO 😦 ), but also because PBO will be in Japan for this month’s G7 (May 26-27) and Vietnam — since it’s such a long flight, wouldn’t be surprised if PBO visits more Asian nations this month).

For those so inclined, check out this video — and try to imagine Americans working together cooperatively like the Japanese (who revere children — they have an annual “Children’s Day”) and think how much better (i.e., less rude) things would be here IMHO.

    From February (9 minute video):

This is amazing, Arapaho. A girlfriend of mine (who loves PBO) was talking to one of her son’s (recent high school graduate) friends who was criticizing PBO, and FLOTUS’ attempts to improve school lunches. He said no one wanted the veggies and complained, for example, that all the carrot packets would end up in the trash at the end of lunch period. He commented, “They weren’t even good carrots.”

Setting aside that it’s the state and local governments and school district officials that are in charge of contracts an menus, and that complaints about the lunches should be directed at these entities (whose elections most don’t bother to vote in), I bristled at the entitlement in his comments. This kid lived and attended public school in an upper middle class area. His mom probably shopped at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s or a well-stocked grocery chain store. There are kids who live in food desserts for whom, those might be the only carrots they see that week.

This YouTube made my heart glad. Hate to generalize, as there are American kids doing amazing things (like the young lady we saw today in Flint), but too many children these days are being raised to be way too entitled, self-centered and unappreciative.

POTUS and FLOTUS deserve a long rest after Jan 2017, but I hope that, after that, Michelle Obama continues her work in food and fitness on behalf of children.

This should be the standard we are aiming for in school lunches!

    Instagram hacked by 10-year-old boy.

A 10-year-old Finnish boy named Jani has been given $10,000 (£7,000) after he found a security flaw in image-sharing social network Instagram.

The boy, who technically is not allowed to even join the site for another three years, discovered a bug that allowed him to delete comments made by other users.

The issue was “quickly” fixed after being discovered, said Facebook, which owns Instagram.

Jani was paid soon after – making him the youngest ever recipient of the firm’s “bug bounty” prize.

After discovering the flaw in February, he emailed Facebook.

Security engineers at the company set up a test account for Jani to prove his theory – which he did.

    A rather refreshing LTE:

    Thanks to Obamacare,

    a slower rise in costs

In Westbury, we’re readying for a library budget vote on Tuesday. The library board gave three reasons why there will be no hike in library taxes: a grant, found money in the form of pension contribution savings, and a slower rise in the cost of health care because of the Affordable Care Act, enabling employee benefits to remain the same.

Nice, consistent medical coverage and a brake on increases — both almost scuttled by congressional Republicans.

So I’ve not had the best of weeks with medical appointments every which way what way – but today’s was a hoot. Had to go get blood taken for tests at the pathologists. So our government is trying to stop the direct government payment & make everyone pay the pathologists then claim the money back ( & for sure there will be a co pay). The lass asked me to sign a petition to which I readily agreed. Then another staff member came in & was ranting against our current government, media & the poor getting poorer.

Then she said – at least our politicians aren’t Donald Trump. So we all had a hate rant on RWNJs – yours and ours – and somewhere in the middle of that she eventually found a vein and took some blood out. Australians used to NEVER talk politics (never talk politics or religion at a dinner party) but I’m glad to see many have had enough of this austerity RW rubbish.

From what I’ve seen today on twitter and my point of view, Ben Jealous seems really overly zealous about Bernie Sanders … not sure if he’s bracing himself for the fact that Bernie just may not win. I’m not saying many of us wouldn’t have felt the same way if Senator Obama had not won the nomination, of course, so I kind of understand his zeal! But I hope he’s ready for a possible let down.

Bernie Sanders’ supporters are determined to destroy the Democratic Party! They totally repulse me! All loyal Democrats must work hard to stop them! As far as I am concerned, any one who advocates using racist right wing supporters of Donald Trump to defeat a supposedly fellow Democratic candidate is just as evil as those Trump supporters! I abhor these ” holier than thou, purity progressives” who think that the goal of attaining a “socialist utopia” is justified by using dirty tactics of using Trump supporters to vote for Sanders in a Democratic primary!
