Can someone tell me the proper etiquette when you find out that a star you like turns out to be a loony toon Republican? I mean do you still spend money on their shit or not?

I’m a harda*s, thus I don’t watch their movies/ shows or by their music- example: Jolie’s dad (who’s name escapes me now) I used to think he was a fine actor.. then he showed us his crazy mind, can’t stomach watching him anymore. Good luck Don 😉

Jon Voight.. and then lets not forget Clint Eastwood. Yikes.

        GM sherijr.

Young’uns don’t remember, but Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman created what would now be a media frenzy in Midnight Cowboy.

I was familiar with Voight from his one season at San Diego’s Old Globe Theater where I was a volunteer usher(ette?) in high school and enamored of all things Shakespeare then.

The Old Globe rotated three Shakespeare plays each season, and the lead actors/actresses played starring roles in two of the three plays. Voight’s stint happened a year before I was an usher, but recall seeing the playbills for his performance as Romeo (with his then-wife as Juliet — guess he dumped her shortly thereafter for Angelina’s mother).

My fav at the time was Barry Bostwick who I loved as Touchstone in As You Like It (still prefer Shakespeare’s comedies, loved all the costumes).

        #MoreThanYouWantedToKnowAboutJonVoight LOL

Interesting life you’ve been living Arapaho 🙂 I did know about Midnight Cowboy- remember it coming out also. I always liked his performances.. but as I said, cannot stomach him now.

I think the first movie I can remember going to as a child was “All the President’s Men,” or either “Black Belt Jones.” I remember going to see “All the President’ Men” because we were the only black people in the theater.

    • May 6, 2016 at 10:39 am

Don as for me, if they are one of those right wing nut who hate this President or First Lady, I’m done with them. I don’t want to watch any movie, or tv program they are on. And heck no I will not spent any money on anything of theirs. I used to like Clint Eastwood movies. Could careless about them now. Maybe I shouldn’t be that way.

Don, if you still like their ……, why not? Of course you may find that it has in some way been tainted by your discovery.

I remember Randi Rhodes saying you should not want to know what your favorite stars think or something like that.

        • May 6, 2016 at 12:10 pm

Once the media figured out they could make a lot of money off of it, we now have the most mundane details of every celebrity’s life shoved in our face, along with their brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles and mother-in-laws, pool boys, nannies, etc, etc, etc. It’s disgusting.

Not sure Don, but from what I’ve read, here are some other RWers/Wingnuts or otherwise anti-Obama. Don’t ask how I know so much pop culture:

      Robert Duvall
      Jon Cryer
      Patricia Heaton
      Pat Sajak
Kevin Sorbo (said some ugly stuff about Ferguson protesters)
Gary Sinise (but he seems to be OK with the WH on Veterans’ issues)
      Drew Carey
      Kelsey Grammer
      Angie Harmon
Freddie Prinze Jr and Sarah-Michelle Gellar
      Kendra Wilkinson
      Miranda Lambert
      50 Cent
      Peyton Manning
‘Papa John’ Schlatter (was a jerk about Obamacare and complained it would be a problem paying his employees. Lives in a gaudy mansion)

I’m sure there are a few more!

  4. May 6, 2016 at 10:33 am

I am bringing this over cause I just posted it on the last thread.

And I am so grateful to PBO.

So, one of the three big hospitals in my area offered me a job and I couldn’t be more grateful. Last week after nearly five years working in child welfare, I left that job to take a job with the hospital to work with the Ryan White program. I will be doing some supportive counseling and case management with my clients with HIV/AIDS. This week was a reprieve for me. The first time I have had any real time off in a year. But Monday and Tuesday, I go to orientation and on Wednesday, start my new endeavor. I am looking forward to this new phase in my work life.

Originally, I had planned to relocate to Maryland to be close to family. But with my son in school in this area and my need to be close to him when he needs me, I decided to put my move on hold until he graduated. I had decided to stay at my old job until then. But then I got this offer, which will be much less stressful for me and will give me a chance to help another population. I will work four 10 hour days with Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays off (a dream schedule) thankfully, coming from the long hours as before.

In any case, I am truly blessed and grateful for this opportunity. I look forward to a new challenge.

I know we all have very conservative family and friends. This comment was on my cousin’s Facebook. I thought this was interesting about how the conservative Christian’s will vote for Trump. Something we all need to read.

    To my “Christian Conservative” friends:
Since Donald Trump appears to be the Republican nominee for President, I’m hearing some CC’s say they will not vote for Trump because of “moral” reasons.
I won’t go into detail about how the Obama-Clinton administration has been devastating for the American people both on domestic and foreign policy. If the CC’s had gone to the polls and voted for Mit Romney we would not be in the shape we are in today. CC’s stayed at home because they COULD NOT MORALLY VOTE for Romney because he was Morman. HOW DID THAT WORK OUT? A non-vote for Trump is a vote for Hillary Clinton.
The population of the US is changing as exemplified by the success of Bernie Sanders (Socialist). We are closely getting to the point that the voting public will vote for the party who promises to redistribute the wealth is greater than those who believe in the principles this country was founded upon.
This election is critical. 8 more years of leftist policies could set this country back for decades. Our children and grandchildren’s future is at stake.
I don’t think Cruz could have been elected, cause there are more on the left than right.
I think Trump may have a shot against Hillary because many in the democratic party see the party going too far left. They would not vote for Cruz but may vote for Trump. In the primaries we have already seen democratic crossover. Sure, Trump is a moderate. I much prefer moderate than leftist. The CC’s need to get behind Trump. They can influence both domestic and foreign policy. BUT to not vote for Trump for moral reasons WILL elect Hillary. How did that strategy work out last time.
What is the definition of insanity? ” Someone who does the same thing over and over again expecting a different result”.

    • May 6, 2016 at 10:53 am

Donald Trump is a racists, sexists, thin skin liar, who bully people, make fun of the disable. But what we need to remember is alot of the KKK said they were Christians too. When they would leave church with their children and go to a lynching of a black person.

    • May 6, 2016 at 11:03 am

Frightening delusion. What exactly has gone wrong for this person under Prez Obama other than economic revival and keeping our military out of ground wars? As I said yesterday no good Democratic deed goes unpunished. This person prefers bigotry and white supremacy masquerading as “concern” about demise of this country. Where is the demise? Ugh? We have so much work to do.

They’re brainwashed. Lying propaganda on Fox and right wing radio. Frightening indeed what these people are made to believe.

      • May 6, 2016 at 12:53 pm

I really do want them to explain what has gone ‘wrong’ with this country?
20 million American with access to healthcare – that’s a wrong?
        Unemployment down to 5% – that’s a wrong?
The American Auto Industry saved -that’s a wrong?

        Really…I wanna know.

Cook Political Report shifts a dozen states more blue.

Now that Donald Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee, 12 states just shifted in Democrats’ favor and one went Trump’s direction in the latest set of ratings from The Cook Political Report.

The nonpartisan newsletter announced Thursday that it was changing 13 ratings on its Electoral Vote scorecard now that Trump has pretty much clinched his the GOP nomination, much to the dismay of some in his party (like say, House Speaker Paul Ryan).

“Although we remain convinced that Hillary Clinton is very vulnerable and would probably lose to most other Republicans, Donald Trump’s historic unpopularity with wide swaths of the electorate — women, millennials, independents and Latinos — make him the initial November underdog,” The Cook Political Report writes. “As a result, we are shifting 13 ratings on our Electoral Vote scorecard, almost all of them favoring Democrats.”

Indiana, Missouri and Nebraska’s 2nd district, which had all been labeled “solid” Republican territory, have shifted leftward in Cook’s ratings. Indiana and Missouri are now labeled “likely” Republican and Nebraska’s 2nd district has moved into a “toss up” between parties. (Nebraska, like Maine, can split its electoral votes.)

Arizona and Georgia, which were “likely” Republican states previously, are now rated as “lean” Republican. North Carolina, which was previously a “lean” state for Republicans, has been moved to “toss up.”

Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin were all “toss up” states, but The Cook Political Report now predicts they’ll “lean” toward Democrats. New Mexico, which was rated “Likely Democratic,” has shifted solidly blue.

    DA HAIL?
    EVER LOVING HAIL?

One day after assuring Americans he is not running for president “to make things unstable for the country,” the presumptive Republican nominee, Donald J. Trump, said in a television interview Thursday that he might seek to reduce the national debt by persuading creditors to accept something less than full payment.

Asked whether the United States needed to pay its debts in full, or whether he could negotiate a partial repayment, Mr. Trump told the cable network CNBC, “I would borrow, knowing that if the economy crashed, you could make a deal.”

He added, “And if the economy was good, it was good. So, therefore, you can’t lose.”

Such remarks by a major presidential candidate have no modern precedent. The United States government is able to borrow money at very low interest rates because Treasury securities are regarded as a safe investment, and any cracks in investor confidence have a long history of costing American taxpayers a lot of money.

Experts also described Mr. Trump’s vaguely sketched proposal as fanciful, saying there was no reason to think America’s creditors would accept anything less than 100 cents on the dollar, regardless of Mr. Trump’s deal-making prowess.

    • 114 Don
      May 6, 2016 at 2:57 pm

LOLOLOLOL! Basically what he’s saying is that he has no intention of honoring our just debts, in other words he wants countries to take half a payment or no payment at all. Even fucking Wimpy has more honor than this motherfucker.
