“I’ll tell you how I’d like to be remembered: as a black man who won the heavyweight title and who was humorous and who treated everyone right. As a man who never looked down on those who looked up to him and who helped as many of his people as he could–financially and also in their fight for freedom, justice and equality. As a man who wouldn’t hurt his people’s dignity by doing anything that would embarrass them. As a man who tried to unite his people through the faith of Islam that he found when he listened to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. And if all that’s asking too much, then I guess I’d settle for being remembered only as a great boxing champion who became a preacher and a champion of his people. And I wouldn’t even mind if folks forgot how pretty I was.”

This is an incredibly well-done tribute by HBO boxing

HRC slated to have Tues. eve nomination victory party in Brooklyn. Pres. Obama due in NYC Wed. Endorsement coming. I wouldn’t be surprised to see announcement of VP selection also. I’m betting it’s Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

    • June 5, 2016 at 8:35 pm

There will also be a coordinated superdelegate release, likely on Wednesday and then cascading throughout the following days. This is how PBO staged it and it was powerful. HRC conceded a few day later on June 7.

    • June 5, 2016 at 9:22 pm

Nah, I expect to see the VP pick a few days before or during the RNC convention. Take some of the wind out of their sails…

      • June 5, 2016 at 9:30 pm

Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking, too. It’s really too early to be announcing it. She needs to pace her media grabs and work to disrupt Trump’s spotlight.

You really think Sen. Warren? I think someone else…they need her in the Senate…we need to control the entire ball of wax. Republican gov. in MA will appoint R replacement…no thanks.

About all this GOP supposed handwringing about Trump.

it’s amusing to me. As a reporter, I would ask every GOP officeholder that came into my sight TWO questions:

What POLICY positions of Donald Trump’s do you disagree with…Congressman, Senator, Governor?

What POLICY positions that he holds that you say are NOT Republican positions.

    Wait for the silence…

Well then, Congressman, Senator, Governor…if you have NO POLICY differences between you and Donald Trump…then why have any hesitation in supporting him?

Only thing that would come out of my mouth as a reporter.

here’s the real reason – “Odd reporting on MSNBC: Sanders requested lower number of poll places in Puerto Rico, bc they had insufficient volunteers to monitor count”. There are similar print media. Now just let that sink for a minute

    talk about troglodytes.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said a woman who rejects motherhood is “deficient” and “incomplete”, urging women to have at least three children.

He said he supported women having successful professional careers – but stressed that this should not be an “obstacle” to having children.

He was addressing Turkey’s Women and Democracy Association in Istanbul.

His comments were the latest in a series of controversial remarks about women and their role in a society.

Earlier this week, President Erdogan called on Muslims to reject contraception and have more children.

CNN has called Puerto Rica for Hillary. Since it will take hours to tally the full vote, there’s no word yet on her delegate haul, but I’ll bet she’ll come very close to the needed number. New Jersey will put her over and then the ball will be in Bernie’s court to bow out gracefully or continue to make an ass of himself.

    • June 5, 2016 at 9:52 pm

Sanders wouldn’t know “bow out gracefully” if it bit him in the face. He’s going to whine for the next month and the MSM will make hay but honestly, most of us will just tune him out. He’s disgusting.

I hope he will do the former, but I fear he will do the latter.

History is going to be made on Tuesday night as HRC becomes the first female presidential nominee of a major party. We made history in 2008 and we’ll do it again this week. While Republicans choose the past, we’re not just representing the future, we’re embracing it. President Obama opened the door to this new world and Hillary’s going to keep it open for the generations behind her. All we have to do is work our hearts out to make it happen.

I love how you framed this. I am partial to our President and decided that Sec Clinton embracing him and his policies was the best reason to support her. When I am trying to get behind her campaign with Clinton supporters I am aware that she is her own person and not in the shadow of anyone else. Your way of expressing this is perfect and something people of good will, no matter their first love, Obama or Clinton, can understand and agree with.
