Al Giordano speaks the truth. I shudder to think what a cosmic mess Bernie would have made of this tragedy. He’s clueless about anything but himself.

Yes, indeed, JackieG! And so do youth all your thoughtful commentaries at TOD! This country is desperately in need of calm and thoughtful people like you, Al Giordano, and President Obama.

The haunting question is whether Trump is psychologically impaired in some way that makes him unfit for the highest office this country can bestow. The term “narcissist” is thrown around quite a lot about him and there can be no doubt that he’s vain and self-centered—but then so are a lot of people who go into politics. They love and desire the roar of the crowd. I’ve talked with medical people, including psychiatrists, about Trump. They all use a somewhat different term: that Trump has a “narcissistic personality disorder,” which is a problem several degrees greater than mere narcissism. As opposed to being simply self-centered and pleased with himself, the person with the narcissistic personality disorder has an outsized need for approval, and can become seriously upset if he doesn’t get his way. This person, the medical experts tell me, tends to be very immature and has a great compulsion to hit back.

The orange one never really knows what he’s talking about. Since he doesn’t care whether something is true or not–there is no ‘true’ in his world–he can and will say anything he wants just to get a rise out of people. And millions of people across this country will believe him and repeat the Afghanistan life.

was just thinking about this latest massacre, not sure what I can really add… I think (hope) people are maybe finally reaching the point where something needs to be done about the insane levels of gun violence in this country. Moments of silence, and thoughts and prayers seem awfully empty when action is lacking. I guess my hope is that FINALLY this will lead to some concrete actions to take these weapons of war out of our cities.

But even a room full of murdered 2nd graders wasn’t enough to pull the GOP congress-critters out of the NRA’s deep pockets. I’m really doubtful they will be moved by LGBTs gunned down in FL. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were just NO guns, NONE, anywhere in the US? I get it, the 2nd amendment, but at this point the cost of letting just anyone build up an arsenal is just not worth it. How can these mass gun murders be worth people’s unfettered access to guns?

I wish the 2nd amendment could be blotted out somehow.

A coworker said she couldn’t believe they shot up a gay bar full of people. I said, yes, I can believe it. This country is full of nuts, racists and homophobes and they are soaked in guns, guns and ammo everywhere.

    • June 13, 2016 at 6:40 pm

all we need is more reasonable people on the supreme court and the 2nd amendment would be interpreted as intended, which is having it be about what we now call “the national guard.” the word “militia” is in the 2nd amendment, and it is also defined in the constitution itself and later when many of the founding fathers signed the militia acts. “the news” and n.r.a. type have been fooling people about the meaning all these years, so few know about this. we’ll only get there by winning more elections at the local and national levels. i.e. carry on the obama revolution.

Good day TOD! Need some place for a respite. For the first time, I am truly terrified about what Trump is inciting in this country. How can we survive 5 more months of this? How long will it be before one of his crazy supporters takes a gun into a mosque and mows down another bunch of Americans? I am ashamed that our country has produced this demagogue, and incensed that the GOP does not shut him down. In addition to the blood of hundreds of Americans on their hands for their failure to enact gun control, they will have blood on their hands for attacks on Muslims in this country. Of course, the irony in all of this is that this is the party that has spent years discriminating against the LGBT community, but now that very community is the basis for Trump’s war on Muslims. I simply cannot believe this is happening in America in 2016. What he is doing is dangerous given the lunacy of his supporters. Even before this latest horror, Muslims here in Dallas have been stalked by Trump crazies openly carrying long guns as they approach their mosques. I simply cannot comprehend the the level of irresponsibility in his speech given he is the GOP nominee.

You I watch the response from people when a Muslims is responsible for a mass shooting, and when a white male is responsible. People claim to be so afraid, but I don’t recall them being so afraid when Dylaan Roof walk into that church and gun down nine black people. Most mass shootings are carried out by white men.,

The people in Charleston, Sandy Hook, Orlando and so many others are martyrs to a struggle for true inclusion and equality. Its a revolution and people are dying. The thing is its a peaceful revolution like MLK believed in and its threatening everyone that lives for hate, entitlement and pushing fear of their fellow men. It has taken its toll and we are counting the innocents that gave their lives as surely as if they had served in the military or the diplomatic corps. This is just my personal opinion of course.

Lala, how are you to know what you are reading is facts versus what is Democratic propaganda? Unless we are in the same house with this man, day in and day out for years, NO ONE can truly specify what is true and what is not. This is what I believe to be true about Obama……after this final chapter of his presidency, he will leave Iraq as a perfect base for Al Queda. He has allowed POTENTIAL terrorist immigrants safe haven in our country. In the name of tolerance he has encouraged them to build mosques in our country. Obama desires to talk unconditionally to Iran. Even more absurd is the fact that he thinks this is what strong countries do. If by strong countries he means countries that give in to inferior and uncivilized dictatorship’s demands, then yes that is what we should do. Real strong countries do not unconditionally chat with coward state sponsors of terrorists that continue to fund the insurgents who are destabilizing Iraq and are killing our soldiers, or with countries who deny the existence of facts like the Holocaust and who are trying to develop Nukes with the intention of blowing Israel of the map. Strong countries know when to talk and when to act. Iran, Syria, and other rogue Muslim states need military action, it is the only solution. Yet Obama wants to cuddle up to Ahmadinajad. To those who claim that Barack Hussein Obama is not a Muslim: Parents were Muslim (mom married two of them) Spent childhood in Indonesia, no doubt learning from his Muslim stepfather and possibly at madrassas. His current “church” preaches intolerance and seeks to divide the population (blacks vs. whites) much as Islam divides the believers from the infidels His pastor is allied with the Nation of Islam. If Obama is not a Muslim, his ties are far to close. He is clearly sympathetic to them and does not hold America’s nor the free world’s interests at heart.

Who knows, Lisa. As is usually the case in any situation, relationship, etc., the truth does come out in the end. I predicted (early on) what GWB was, what his administration would do to our country and said that the truth would come out as to whether I was right or wrong. Turns out, I was right. Maybe the same will true for you regarding President Barack Obama. I seriously doubt it, but time will tell. One of the things I think about often is that I hope/pray that I live long enough to see and hear the haters and doubters have to “eat their words.” One thing I can’t figure out though: If he was raised in Indonesia, how are there numerous pictures of him with his school class(es) in Hawaii? Have both read and heard interviews with some of his former teachers and classmates. Can’t figure out how both could be true.

    • June 13, 2016 at 7:01 pm

From the moment I heard about this case, it didn’t smell right.

The ‘radical Islam’ never hunted for me.

You drive 118 miles from your home to go to a GAY CLUB to target?

      REALLY?

      SERIOUSLY?

Then, we heard about his background. Immigrant parents. Married and divorced- so abusive HER family supported her leaving him.

Then, the father said that he saw two men together and it angered him.

      Uh huh.

      uh huh.

      Yeah, ok.

      It ‘angered’ him.

IMO, he hated what he was, which is gay. He’s in the closet. Beat the wife when she wouldn’t ‘ cure’ him of being gay. Couldn’t reconcile it, and decided to kill what he hated in himself. How dare these gay men be out, open, and expressing themselves freely as gay. And, don’t forget the timing – during Pride Month – so, of course, the club would be even more crowded than usual. This was a hate crime, from beginning to end.

Oldest granddaughter just called to tell me her new co-worker, who happens to be Lesbian, was at the Orlando club where the shootings took place with four friends … they all got out alive, but now – of course – everyone’s scared to death and it’ll take a long while to work through it. Sad beyond measure.

By the way, my granddaughter’s not a political junkie like her grandmother, but she said “Trump’s shaking up all this stuff.”

That’s all it takes – one mouthpiece like Trump spews stupidity and hatred and the rest of the nutjobs follow his voice.

    • June 13, 2016 at 7:55 pm

Some, no doubt, but hopefully it will make the majority stronger, and make more and more of the rest of us circle around them. Too early to tell, of course. My g-daughter’s co-worker didn’t go to work today, but said she was going tomorrow because she knew if she had a meltdown, my g-daughter would help her through it. And she would!
