    Our POTUS and Vice-President are wonderful human beings.

  3. June 16, 2016 at 8:14 pm

    Someone on BJ pointed this out. Trump is now asking money from people who actually KNOW about his business practices. They KNOW that his purported self -financing primary campaign was bullshyt, and that it was nothing but loans. And any money raised now is going to pay back Trump ‘s loans to the campaign, and they are not going for that bullshyt.

      Interesting point, Rikyrah. Those who know about his business practices also know what he would do to the American economy and are probably horrified by the thought. It’s one thing for Trump to pile up his own bankruptcies. It’s another thing if he bankrupts the economy and puts their own wealth at risk.

      Democrats failed to understand the importance of voting in the year of the census when legislative districts were redrawn. By staying home, they ceded the field to Republicans so that legislative districts at the state and federal were drawn for political advantage, not fair representation. Until we wake up, vote and insist on a fairer system, we will continue to have dysfunctional state legislature and a US Congress that no longer fulfills its role in governing.

      So happy VP Biden was with PBO. It’s a tough day for both. They could support each other.

        The emotional cost of this trip to both PBO and VP Biden must have been very high. Both of them give completely of themselves in times of grief. It’s never about them–it’s only about the wounded and those who have lost loved ones. I hope both of them get lots of hugs from their families tonight.

        • June 18, 2016 at 5:25 am

          I am sure they will. This president and his wife have been the most loving and affectionate I have ever seen. I will miss the open pda’s for themselves and others when they have left the White House.

      Monuments to Love

      These two finely chiseled men who care so much
      About the American dream
      Hell, most of us didn’t even remember
      What the American dream was
      When they came on the scene

      And yet they now have us thinking of
      The “huddled masses yearning to breathe free”
      We were then “your tired, your poor”
      Your “homeless” and “tempest-tossed”
      And now we are in a loving recovery

      Every day these two finely chiseled men help us through
      The storms of life, of strife, and more
      Hell, we didn’t even know how much we needed them
      We had no idea how lost we were ~ but, now,
      “To them, we lift our lamps beside the golden door!”

              Thanks, nath. He’s doing okay but the procedure with another round of bio-glue didn’t “take” – air is still leaking into his chest cavity. However, his appt. with the surgeon (who has 2 or 3 other ideas) has been moved up to Monday, so there’s that light at the end of the tunnel. Please keep him in your thoughts.

        Wow, JO’B. This is just brilliant and piercingly true. Many Americans had forgotten not only the American dream, but also how to hope until our President and Vice President taught us to once again believe in ourselves and in our future. I love the way they always remind us when ugly things happen that “this isn’t who we are, we’re better than this.” When people come to believe that, they truly do become better.

      If you want to run for office, it’s best to find out the rules in your state or municipality. One of Bernie’s problems is that he never understood the ins and outs of the complex American election system. If you don’t get the details right, you can’t run.

    per BBC:

    memo leaked in which > 50 staff at the US State Department oppose PBO’s current approach to Syria civil;

    apparently, they are advocating for military action;

    my thoughts:

    – hope pundits & media don’t hyperventilate about this because it seems the staff followed a long-standing procedure for objection to policy;

    – if true, then this is yet one explanation of why PBO talked about being proud that he had not always followed beltway orthodox (i.e. in which a majority of people in foreign policy & defense circles always think in terms of military action as the main answer to all crises;

    – it is difficult to be the last person deciding whether to send young men and women into war & especially so when the majority of those around you think in tunnel vision or group think;

    • 80 idon
      June 17, 2016 at 12:11 am

      I always trust PBO because I understand there are many moving parts especially in Syria. Russia is a significant problem. Now if you add to that wingnut corporations in Syria wanting to destabilize the country for profit, you can see what PBO is up against.

      • 81 globalcitizenlinda
        June 17, 2016 at 12:21 am

        Yes, you are right to say that:

        – Syria is a complex situation and will probably take time and caution to resolve;

        – Trust PBO => so far, his decisions have been right although some have taken time to show results;

        I always remember those who deliver criticism privately when they are a part of a team and espcially when results are taking time to manifest themselves

    • 82 jacquelineoboomer
      June 17, 2016 at 12:16 am

    • 83 nathkatun7
      June 17, 2016 at 1:51 am

      They can oppose all they want! The majority of the Americans who voted in 2008 and 2012 did not elect any of the 50 staffs members at the State Department to be President of the United States. If they don’t agree with the policy of a duly elected President of the United States, the most honorable thing for them to do is resign!

      • 84 99ts
        June 17, 2016 at 4:40 am

        Those who voted for PBO did it to STOP war – not to send more young men to foreign shores. It’s easy to favor war from the armchair. PBO was elected to stop sending Americans overseas and he has remembered that throughout his 8 years.

      • 85 jackiegrumbacher

      June 17, 2016 at 7:51 am

      maybe it is just me but I could care less what the 50 staff members think. If they feel that strongly about going to war, they can certainly hop a plane and go for it on their own dime. No one is stopping them.

      • 90 globalcitizenlinda
        June 17, 2016 at 12:28 am

        I also need that explanation;

        I think it is because most people automatically thought that the Warriors would win right away.

        it is not easy to admit that you were over-confident or just wrong in your expectations

        • 91 idon
          June 17, 2016 at 1:21 am

          I’m a Warriors fan but more than that I love #BlackExcellence and both teams exude that. But what I find puzzling is the inconsistency in Warrior and Cavaliers performance. I would like to see them take blood and urine samples from both teams and air and water samples from the locker room that the visiting team used. I’ve been suspicious ever since Game 1 of the finals. The losing team always seemed a complete disaster or the winning team seemed to display an abundance of excellence. Seriously I’m not a conspiracy nut although this probably makes me sound like one 🙂

    Good morning TOD! So glad that Joe was with PBO for this trip. They lift each other up and it looks like PBO needed that lift for this one.

    Trump is in TX and I thought you might enjoy one interesting fact. His team is soooo bad, they almost could not find a venue in North TX for his event:-) They ended up at a 3200 seat nightclub after they were turned down by 5 other venues who said they could not supply the security personnel that would be needed. Even here in TX, businesses do not want the toxicity his campaign brings with it.

    After this awful week, so happy PBO is doing his family parks trip. Hoping we will see some gorgeous photos from that trip. The Carlsbad Caverns truly are amazing.

    Hope the crew in DC has a wonderful time together!
