This is somewhat petty but can someone please explain to me WHY BS still needs secret service protection at this point? Other than for his ego, of course. I know he remains a “presidential candidate” but he is free to decline it at any time. So these men and women are sitting outside his house while the service overall is short staffed.

I am so angry with this Congress that I am speechless. I truly hope that Trump stays in the race and it is a landslide of epic proportions for the Dems in November. I have had it with these Republicans.

I saw Bernie Sanders entering the Senate to vote today in a Rachel Maddow clip. Jane was by his side. No other spouse was with the Senators enroute to vote. What is that all about? It almost seems like the wife protecting her husband from anyone finding out their thinking is no longer clear.

Nah – she likes the limelight – little bit of fame & she has to be dragged spluttering back to wherever she came from. I am usually positive towards politician’s spouses who like to be with their partner at the Capital (whether it be in the US or Oz) – but this one just wants the limelight.

Saw previous posts on my commute from work. I would just like to drop this in for Dearest Chips. Sending all that’s good in the Universe for you and Mama Chips. The varying emotions might not be in sync, but you are where you’re supposed to be right now, giving comfort to your Mum, holding hands & hearts, and knowing that you’re so loved. Everything will be alright, all will align. The only heartfelt word I can express right now is: Bless! With love & affection. xoxox

Seems like a good time to repost this, a short YouTube that perfectly illustrates why our gun laws need to change.
Imagine if the shooter at the Pulse nightclub had this gun instead? Those of you on Twitter and FB, etc. please share:

Always have been…the question is NOT the Dems…the question is the Republicans that are totally bought and paid for by the NRA….they have no morals about this, no principles…THEY WANT THE $$$$$!!!

  22. June 20, 2016 at 8:13 pm

It is pitiful, but I expect nothing better from the Republicans. They don’t care about anything but what the NRA says, many more people can die, they don’t care.

    GA/GE TODville.

Completely off-topic, but if anyone was wondering what LA is like right now…

This is closer to GGail and Tally than me, and THANKFULLY it’s NOT windy — hotter than heck outside, my (cheap) digital thermometer now reads 109.5, and I’m about 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

Eeek! One of these is very close to me! Our area is not super smokey yet and not evacuating. Just checked the Twitter feed of my local FD and we are o.k. so far. Texted my neighbor to let her know her kitty is safe and she wrote back that she was on her way home and worried so, thank you, Arapaho, for alerting me! Gonna get the cat carriers out of the garage, just in case!

          GE MS.

Heard on @knx1070 radio that the wind is blowing the fire northward, which is a blessing.

Mentioned before (with the menacing photos of the Glendora fire IIRC) that there are two reasons fires in the San Gabriel foothills are so dramatic and hair-raisingly scary.

          1) The San Gabriels are big (Mt Baldy is 10K feet), while coastal mountains max out at 2-3000 ft — so just about any SG mountain fire will look dramatic.

          2) Unless there are fierce Santa Ana/Sundowner winds blowing, fires don’t rage downslope. Not to say they don’t travel downhill, but they explosively race upslope.

Unless your residence has a great view of the San Gabriel valley from south-facing windows, probably not too much to worry about… for now.

Climate change has made our natural chaparral ecosystem very vulnerable — this is why I am so concerned with the recent “anomaly” weather conditions for the past 5 years or so.

The biggest risks to our area are structures and people in river valleys (LA river pretty much follows the 110 freeway through South LA to San Pedro, San Diego’s Mission Valley is really the San Diego River, etc.) and coastal communities. Our native chaparral will not be able to adapt to extended droughts and fires, and will cede to plants better adapted to desert conditions. This probably won’t happen in my lifetime, but think it might during our grandchildren’s lives.

😦 End of ecosystems (my college major) rant.

I totally get rants. Engage in them often myself πŸ™‚

My friends closer to the fire are o.k.

            It’s still 98Β°F at 8:22 p.m. PDT here.

The smoke isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but I had to go outside briefly and now my eyes are stinging like an MFer!

I am reposting this from the previous thread as it had too many errors:

I did not want my first comment since our meet up to be like this. I just went back to read older posts and saw Nerdy’s comments on the Early Bird Chat. Dear Chips, blessings and comfort to you. You are loved. Please do take care.

Also, thanks to all for a memorable time on Friday. As I was not able to visit the MLK Memorial with the group I visited on Sunday. What a serene and peaceful atmosphere and surroundings. Thanks everyone who was a part of making the meet up a reality.
