Nerdy, you are entirely awesome! Sharing a drawing my friend Wilder did this week:

    • July 9, 2016 at 12:55 pm

Saw enough of this on the front page of the NYT. No photos of dead white people. Despicable non-parity!

Please be careful with posting “trigger” images on the blog.

We agreed long ago not to post pictures of pictures of snakes and ccrawly things here because of how they impact members. Let’s respect those of us who would rather not see depictions (even artful ones) of actual dead people here.

A video must be clicked on to be actively viewed. We can’t go through the thread without seeing photos.

Judith, this is a hard picture to see, but I have saved it to my PC. I can only try to appreciate the time and heart that your friend put into this. Bless him or her. I cannot imagine what drove them while drawing this. It’s stark, and painful and just makes you want to cry.
Maybe a link with a warning. I…it is hard to look at. I have no words, but thank you for everything you do, including sharing information. Thank you also for understanding how hard this is for many of us to see. I’m glad I’v gotten to save it, in case it get’s deleted. Maybe again a link AND a warning. Again thank you, and take heart my friends.

Did someone just try to question PBO before he was done? Listening via radio.

  5. July 9, 2016 at 1:14 pm

We have a president that is so smart and so wise. His statements right now on race in America and now on globalization and immigration are exquisitely intelligent and articulate, grounded in reality.

I was just on Facebook and a cousin of mine posted this. This is how my so called Christian family will be able to vote for Trump. This makes me sick. I don’t respond or block them because I do want to see what they are saying.

Just hit me… MSNBC is carrying the ENTIRE press conference (at least so far)!

This feels NEW to me! 😳

Only because of what happened in Dallas. They want to be able to quote (or misquote if BW) the President when talking with the RW pundits so the latter can get their hate into the conversation.

Another incredibly impressive presser given by President Obama.

the WHPC cannot see the Brilliance of our President…because all they they see is a Blk Man…whom they still try to best after 8 years..i grow weary of it all

        • July 9, 2016 at 5:27 pm

Sincerely, I don’t think all they see is a Black Man.

In my opinion, what they see is a man who doesn’t provide them the soundbites they want for their “entertainment news”. A man whose answers are too long and too “complicated” for their shallow world view. Making their homework, read and learn about the world, about the economy in order to APPRECIATE what the President is saying, to UNDERSTAND all the nuances, and being able to SUMMARIZE the President’s answers for the general public ? Much too difficult, too much work for them. Better not listen to the answers and tweet constantly while the President is talking, and then borrow the next republican talking point and make “news” with it.

In other words: the President irritates them because he doesn’t make their job easy. Why do you think they’ve loved Trump since the beginning ? Because Trump has provided them “content” for their “news” without them having to really work at it.

That was a very informative PBO presser (but aren’t they always?)! I loved the way he thoughtfully answered those questions about legacy AND the *lesson* on what he has tried to accomplish re war and with the other nations. God, if more reporters AND citizens would **really, really* listen to Pres O they’d learn so very much.

Great idea but there are no numbers attached to the idea. Without that, it’s just more Bernie Sandersism.

Listening to the President’s press conference, I was amazed and humbled at the same time. The man speaks 90 percent without notes about eight years’ worth of his presidency, not counting what’s happening globally, including historical facts, names names, adds personal touches, is Comforter-in-Chief for us all, and I don’t think I saw him “read” more than the intro. It’s exhausting just watching his brain work. Bravo, sir.

Of course, I credit his mother, and her early morning hours of educating her son – teaching him how to learn, how to absorb knowledge, make it work for him. Sob.

Random clipped story (you’ll remember it):

Ann Soetoro was so determined for her son to succeed that she woke him at 4 am to give him private lessons before school.
He says he was pushed so hard by her that he sometimes felt he was an “experiment.”

Friends say Mrs Soetoro, who died of cancer in 1995, was instrumental in giving the Democratic contender his self-belief and charisma.

A New York Times profile of her said she could be informal and funny but also exacting, intense and hard-headed.

She preached to her young son the importance of honesty, straight talk and independent judgment. She would play him again and again tapes of speeches by Martin Luther King Jr.

When he complained about the early morning English correspondence course she insisted on while they were living in Indonesia, she told him: “This is no picnic for me either, buster.”

Interesting how the pundits want to erase the the work of the President and the Obama Coalition…We are the true base of the DEM party…and without us…there is no “re-shaping” of the Dem Party!!…Hillary Clinton figured that out…so did the DNC in 2016…

I am so sick of flippin Bernie Sanders and his ilk. Now, they want to give credit to BS for a progressive 2016 platform? PBO also wanted a public option. The problem came with getting some of the cowardly, and or blue dog dems to vote for it! It would be beneficial to Americans, and to the Federal budget I’m sure. I do hope that HRC comes out with numbers ASAP.
I’m going to educate myself about TPP. I understand people’s aversion to it after NAFTA, but globalization is here to stay, and I’m sick of folks trying to roll back time and isolate us. Does anyone have any good articles to read about it and the benefits to the “little” guy? I will go on WH.gov, but anything else. I ‘ll check twitter too. We really need to get some information out. I trust my President, and I’d hate for us to be like Brexit.

THIS! They act like they invented the moon! Of course, the vast majority of them have never done anything before this…..forget those of us who have been fighting for years if not decades. My first march was 45 years ago, before most of the Sanders supporters were even born.

Love Kamala. I only wish she wasn’t dead set against TPP.

      • July 9, 2016 at 5:57 pm

Pity…no vision…but a vote against TPP is a for NAFTA to remain in place……..

        • July 9, 2016 at 6:07 pm

Yes, indeed. But I guess that irony is lost on them. Perhaps they think they can just go back and renegotiate TPP, which is impossible because no one country is allowed to do that by contract. And if they think they can come up with something better overnight (TPP took 6 years to negotiate) – well, good luck with that.

          • July 9, 2016 at 6:14 pm

UNIONS have been known to shoot themselves in the foot before…willing to bet that folks who are opposed to TPP…have not really read it…wonder if they missed all the briefings like Sanders did

When I donated blood this week, a new question had been added to the usual list of disqualifiers (like, have you injected illegal drugs)– they’re now screening for Zika. The question was, ‘have you been to any of the countries on the Zika caution list?’ Didn’t have on my reading glasses (…) so couldn’t actually see the list, so I asked, is Hawaii not on the list? Because you know the carrier mosquito is established here. The tech said no, if Hawaii was a caution area, they would not be accepting our blood. Hmmm. Just a reminder of the ripples of consequence for Congress’ inaction on this.
