    So good to have this place to come to when I am feeling down.
    My oldest son just called me. He has been very busy at work as it is his busy season so I had not spoken to him for a couple weeks. He talked politics our whole phone call and had me thinking there is no way Clinton can win. He was a Bernie supporter, but intends to vote for Hillary as his fears involve Trump winning as do mine. Now I am really worried after his call. He thinks she is too unpopular and Trump is saying everything people want to hear. He knows how terrible he would be and thinks people do not care or believe it. They only want a big shakeup, a change. I think we need to really work hard to get her elected.

      OG, here is an article to read. It was in a previous thread today. It is great info to be aware of so we don’t get too discouraged and so we know where to put most of our efforts for the election. And, yes, we must all work very hard to make sure Clinton-Kaine win on Nov 8th. Sweet dreams everyone. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of this campaign! Only 107 days until the election.

      I think we all share your feelings, and the occasional freak-out 🙂 It reminds me of when Robmey was so close in the polls– it was inconceivable to me that so many Americans would vote for that version of ‘leadership’. Thank Heaven, it turned out fine, and we have PBO still doing the good work! Every day with him as president is a blessing. In spite of the crazies, I do believe HRC will win, and the world will continue to turn in a positive direction. How wonderful to have a good conversation with your son! It’s important to get these reports from those who travel in circles where right wing beliefs are aired. It makes us stronger, and so grateful for each other ❤

    • July 25, 2016 at 12:31 am

      To paraphrase MO in ’08 …be not afraid…
      We are the firewall that will stop trump — knock doors, make calls, register voters, chat up family, friends, strangers… Do what ever it takes to INCREASE the vote up and down the ticket…

    • 37 globalcitizenlinda
      July 25, 2016 at 12:37 am

      please don’t worry so much. it is going to be alright on Nov/8th;

      truth be told, it is going to be a hard fought campaign but if we all do our little part in our corner’s of the nation, we will see Sec HRC elected in a landslide;

      there are somethings none of can control and that we have to put aside and pray for (if one is so inclined to pray);

      but at the end of the day we have to remember that:

      (a) there are more people in the Obama Coalition than in the gop;

      (b) the elections are won one vote at time by a dedicated ground game => knocking on doors, sending post-cards, contributing money (if we can), calling people, talking to others who are either disillusioned or are not paying attention or not appreciating the consequences of voting the wrong way or not voting.

      (c) if we commit to register or encourage at least 1 person per day, then in the next 90 days, each one of us will have multiplied their vote by 90 new or re-registering voters;

      to achieve all this we must volunteer in each way we can. together we can and will get victory

    • July 25, 2016 at 1:36 am

      You shouldn’t listen to pessimists, it’s bad for your health. If it’s any consolation the futures markets at Predictwise have Hillary at 70% likelihood of being victorious. People with money are betting on Hillary. And don’t forget, she has Barack and Michele Obama, Joe and Jill Biden on her side.

    The hate and anger displayed in the #DemsInPhilly is unbelievable. These are the people who seem to lack critical thinking skills. They seem equate emails with the nominating process in which millions of people either voted or caucused for their preferred candidate. These DNC emails had no affect on the outcome of the nominating process. It appears most of them are Republicans with some Russian agents thrown in. We simply have to get out the vote. That’s our only job. During the DNC convention, let’s disempower them by not retweeting their hate, anger or their agitating for violence.

      I’m so sick of them all. Wikileaks, Bernie Bros, the GOP, the Trump, his supporters, the religious right, the RWNJs and sometimes everyone else except for PBO and his family. The US has the BEST of chances over the past 8 years and threw it away on emails and Benghazi, both of which were no different to what any other admin ever did. I have no idea why Hillary wants to be President but the stone throwing that started in 1992 is never going to stop. GOP is now supported by the Russians and anyone else who wants to bring the US down. WMDs in the hands of the GOP and Trump is a much bigger worry than Iraq, Iran & any other country.

      A pox on all their houses.

      Bernie Sanders created a lot of hatred of HRC during his campaign. If those Bernie supporters had voted, maybe Sanders would have won. Most of those folks marching in Philadelphia, probably did not vote. They like this type of mess, and WikiLeaks just fanned the fire.

    GM TOD! I must admit, I do not understand the reasoning in firing DWS, but allowing her to run the convention. If you’re going to get her out, get her out now. She is going to be booed by all the Sanders delegates. WHY would you want to open the convention this way?

        You’re very welcome. Had planned to be there this am, however, awoke to violent thunder & lightening around 5:00 am. Sun is out now so I’m going to try to make my way down to the convention center with my walker. Fortunate that the convention center is built over top of the train station… Just confirmed that I’ll be able to swing by the PA hotel, on my way to a med appt, tomorrow morning. Blessed that my elected republican friend is willing to drive me downtown at 6:30 am…

    Good morning all. I just refuse to be downcast and discouraged by the email deal. I noticed Axelrod’s tweet is carefully crafted. He always knows more than he says. To me his email said: “Watch this space. Facts about the Trump/Putin relationship will be soon be revealed. Damaging to Trump.” And, I am sure that all the President’s men and women are working on this, and this will be a big nail in Trump’s coffin. You don’t outplay PBO!

    “Progressive” Drama Queens Freaking Out Over DNC Emails Need to Grow Up

    Spandan Chakrabarti
    July 24, 2016

    In the latest of “progressive” poutrage over Wikileak’s publication of stolen DNC data – including what may be hundreds of thousands of innocent individuals’ credit card information and social security numbers – the subject, oddly enough, is not an uproar over the stunning violation of privacy of private citizens that Wikileaks is perpetrating. It isn’t even over the fact that there is evidence that the Russian government was behind the hack, the same government that is protecting American fugitive Edward Snowden.

    No, the poutrage, as always, is some high-horse moralization over DNC internal staff emails that happened to not always have given the progressives’ newest savior, Bernie Sanders, utmost adulation. In fact, some emails from some staffers even said mean things about the boyfriend of the self-anointed protectors of all things liberal, and, get this – one conversation even talked about whether to use the Sanders campaign’s DNC data stealing operations early in the campaign against him, although that idea was eventually shot down due to express instructions from the Chair. And if that weren’t enough, one tinsy email talked about asking him about his religious beliefs (again, a fleeting thought that was never actually carried out).

    Oh, the horror.

    The Democratic Women Who Could Retake the Senate
    In 6 of the 12 most vulnerable seats now held by Republicans, the challengers are women.

    by Anne Kim
    July 25, 2016 7:00 AM

    Hillary Clinton is set to make history as America’s first female major-party presidential candidate – and potentially its first female president. But women could also make a defining difference in the U.S. Senate, where female candidates may also help deliver the Democratic majority a President Clinton would need to help support her agenda in Congress.

    In six of the 12 most vulnerable Republican-held Senate seats this cycle, the Democratic challenger is a woman. Republicans currently hold the Senate with a margin of 54 to 44, which means that a sweep by these female candidates would be more than enough to put Democrats over the top this fall. The strength among women Senate candidates this year is part of a general trend toward more women running for elected office. The Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) at Rutgers University reports that the total number of women running for the Senate this year (including primaries) is at an historic high.

    Among the women running in competitive races who could help deliver the Senate to Democrats in November:
