So glad about the end of private prisons in the U.S. Many people have made fortunes from this scam, including the wife of one of our former governors, Frank Keating. Disgraceful. The conditions are far inferior to the federally regulated prisons. This is a big step forward.

It’s the classic Trump-media dynamic: He says “jump” they say “how high?” He wants them to focus on the word “regret.” And for the most part, they’ll happily oblige.

      August 19, 2016 at 12:38 pm

Trump has demonstrated his ability to surround himself with inept, corrupt and traitorous people during his campaign. His latest pick of Bannon is doubling down on his poor judgement.
I remember when then candidate Obama said to watch his decision making skills during his campaign as an indicator of how he could run the government when the argument was he has never run anything.
Using that same example for Trump shows The Donald does poorly at running his companies with the proof being the number of bankruptcies, the bringing in and hiring of foreign workers for businesses here, the promotion of jobs for cheap labor abroad in his companies (which he rails against), the affiliation with leaders from known enemies of our country as well as his choice of people to run his campaign. His own campaigning style, mean and insulting remarks and numerous lies may be able to be hid for the remainder of the campaign but would surface immediately upon being elected to the Presidency.
Donald Trump has shown during his lifetime he is not suited to the Presidency. He has shown during the campaign that he is not suited for the Presidency. He does do well at name branding and creating chaos which makes him well suited to reality tv.

G’morning Nerdy & TOD! Congrats Roberta and Happy Friday everyone! 🙂

Thanks #OBAMA for ending use of private prisons.

I cannot believe folks were making money from “prison stocks!” I mean WTF…that’s a serious conflict of interest where justice and law enforcement are concerned.

Manfort’s resignation was biggest non-surprise of appalling DJT campaign.

Writing was on the wall when Breitbart CEO Bannon added this week.

DJT is now trying to escape felony charges himself — which may happen, but doubtfully before Nov (so much evidence to pursue, investigate and compile into a case):

Study finds Latinos age at slower rate than other ethnicities

In the quest to find the fountain of youth, scientists may one day look to Latinos to find the answer, as a new study shows they age at a slower rate than individuals of other ethnicities. The findings, published in Genome Biology, used several biomarkers to study changes linked to aging in the genome.

“Latinos live longer than Caucasians, despite experiencing higher rates of diabetes and other diseases,” Steve Horvath, lead author and professor of human genetics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles, said in a news release. “Our study helps explain this by demonstrating that Latinos age more slowly at the molecular level.”

The biomarkers evaluated included an “epigenetic clock” developed by Horvath that tracks an epigenetic shift linked to aging in the genome. Epigenetics is the study of changes to the DNA molecule that influence which genes are active but don’t alter the DNA sequence itself.

White supremacist stabs interracial couple after seeing them kiss at bar, police say

“He tells them, ‘Yeah, I stabbed them. I’m a white supremacist,’” Lower said. “He begins talking about Donald Trump rallies and attacking people at the Black Lives Matter protest.”

    …………………..

police said Rowe’s behavior grew stranger as officers tried to wrestle him into the back of a patrol car.

“He tells them, ‘Yeah, I stabbed them. I’m a white supremacist,’” Lower said. “He begins talking about Donald Trump rallies and attacking people at the Black Lives Matter protest.”

According to court documents obtained by the Olympian, Rowe, who was unconscious when police encountered him, had tattoos that read “skinhead,” “white power” and “hooligan.” One tattoo showed the Confederate flag.

“This has all the hallmarks of a hate crime,” Deputy Prosecutor Joseph Wheeler said

So Trump is heading to Louisiana for a photo-op. And the media wants to know why President Obama has not been there, once again trying to compare this to Katrina.

      August 19, 2016 at 10:37 am

      Yup.

      http://time.com/4458832/donald-trump-louisiana-flooding/

Donald Trump and his running mate Mike Pence plan to tour flooded areas in Louisiana on Friday.

Details of the trip have not been publicly released, and Trump’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Richard Carbo, a spokesman for the Louisiana governor’s office, told CBS on Thursday that they had not been contacted about the Republican nominee’s trip. Carbo said he welcomed Trump to the state, “but not for a photo-op,” and that he should “consider volunteering or making a sizable donation to the LA Flood Relief Fund to help the victims of this storm.”

Every report on this just has to mention that the Louisiana Governor is a democrat. Funny that most GOP Governors hide their party and the media just refers to them by name.

President Obama knows how disruptive a visit from POTUS would be to any area. While there were those who criticized that PBO did not cancel his vacation to go to LA, PBO did what he needed to do from a distance and provided the Federal resources needed. The governor appreciated that a whole lot more (and said so) than having someone come in, take away vital resources they needed to deal with the crisis at hand.
