Nobody challenges guest BS, misinformation, filibustering, and non-responsive answers on cable like Joy Reid. In addition to holding this pastor’s feet to the fire, she also had Gov Jim Gilmore and Jack Kingston squirming in their seats. She is fierce.

    • August 20, 2016 at 2:23 pm

Last night she subbed for CH. she was fierce then too. Some loudmouth Trump supporter who refused to answer her questions and kept yapping over her. She never let up , not for one second!

I was screaming at my computer screen after watching Gilmore. What a coward apologist for Trump. One thing about Joy Reid’s interviews, these entitled and duplicitous people try to talk over her. I don’t know if they don’t believe how good she is, that they haven’t met a real journalist in a long time, if they think they have impunity for anything that they do or say or all of the above. I couldn’t listen to Gilmore for one more second.

Also I like how she handled the interview with the lady trying to trash Hillary Clinton as having “provoked” Vladimir Putin and what we really need is someone that Putin likes in the office of President. Joy was able to suggest round about and beautifully that Jill Stein advocates just such a view. It was a thing of beauty so Joy isn’t catering to the loony left either. Can we please clone her a thousand times over. I’d watch the news again if people of her intelligence, integrity and drive to get to the truth were allowed to be on the news stations.

No thank you, would drive me nuts to be trapped with random people for hours on end.

Was once stuck in an elevator for 45 minutes at work — and THANKFULLY I was alone and had a book.

Had previously seen the elevator absolutely jam-packed with people going only a floor or two.

After that I took the stairs, even though I worked on the 11th floor.

Looks like HRC will be in LA this Tuesday, Aug 26, but Leonardo DiCaprio will be in NYC.

DiCaprio can’t leave NYC next week because of his work with this STAR-studded film (from the article):
“DiCaprio is producing the documentary ‘Before the Flood.’ The film — which is expected to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9 — focuses on the effects climate change have on endangered ecosystems and native communities; it will feature President Obama, Bill Clinton, Secretary of State John Kerry, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and Pope Francis.”

Yeah, Judith!! We’ve got to get out there any way we can to keep people aware of the importance of voting the entire ballot on Nov 8th.

Copying this from a few threads ago…
Even if you are in a blue state your help is still urgently needed. For instance, in California we are phone banking to other states and for down ticket races, even though California will go blue for HRC.

Go to hillaryclinton.com and scroll down to “Find events”. Enter your zip code and up will come events close to you.
Yes there are phone banks, but there are also trainings of other kinds. For instance I am not comfortable doing phone calling, so I am doing critically important data entry of info gathered by the callers. And as donnadem stated, all these workers need food and drinks to sustain them while they do this important work. So volunteer to bring these to headquarters or any phone bank party in your area.

Another thing you can do is throw a party at your home for friends to come watch one or more of the debates. Hillary’s website has info on those as well.

And I am doing tabling once a week at our local farmers market. Mostly we hand out buttons, bumper stickers and signs, and accept all the thanks from people who are so grateful to see us there. And we talk with a few people answering their questions or encouraging them to volunteer, directing them to the website, etc. A relatively painless job.

So send an email on the website offering to help and someone should contact you to find a spot for you.

Stephen Colbert has GOT to have Joy Ann Reid on his show when he returns form vacation. She is the ONLY true JOURNALIST who holds her guest accountable and does not allow them to lie. She doesn’t allow the trump supporters to lie. She always has her facts and is beyond knowledgable. She is the perfect guest for him. He loves smart people and so does she.

I hope people are watching her MSNBC show, AM Joy this time (weekends at 10 ET). Not only is she the only remaining progressive female voice of color on the major cable news channels, but she does an outstanding job, and she speaks for Gabby Douglas’s and Michelle Carters. She wrote an outstanding article in the Washington Post titled, “Black women are heroes in Rio. But they’re not just fighting to win gold.”

I hope people are watching Joy. would love to see her 5 days a week on PM Joy.

“What do you have to lose?” That is the most condescending, patronizing, ignorant, arrogant, disgusting statement. Does not anyone in his campaign actually hear what he says? Do they care? Of course, the answers are no. I have never in my life heard a candidate who is so absolutely awful.

Funny how when it’s your “religious” beliefs republicans justify creating your own laws. Maybe Hillary should start saying it is against her religious beliefs to trust government servers… surely no republican believes any person should go against their personal religious beliefs under any circumstances… oh unless they are Muslim or a Democrat.

    • 81 99ts
      August 20, 2016 at 8:00 pm

That a state could change their documents because 1 person objected to a law is unbelievable. She should have been fired for not doing her job. Religion has no part in government

And because I can’t work out where to put it – the religious right supporting Trump is the most ridiculous thing I have seen this election (and there have been many). Hillary Clinton and PBO have Christian beliefs and live up to those beliefs – Trump has nothing. Does he even belong to a Church – anywhere?

A Louisiana resident who is working to aid the thousands of people who have lost their homes and been displaced in the state’s historic flooding lashed out at Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Facebook Saturday.

She wrote that…Donald Trump’s visit was not welcomed by any residents she knows because it tied up precious resources that could be used in rescue and relief efforts.

“Our Governor literally told him (as this article shows) that Trump is welcome in our state but if he’s coming he better be volunteering or writing a sizable check to assist with recovery,” continued Butkus. “A 60 second video of him unloading play-doh from a truck does not count.”

Finally, she demanded, “Trump. Seriously. Where is the check. Like where is the fucking check. My people are drowning. My co-workers and family and friends have lost everything…Give us money or GTFO. I don’t want to see you in your suit in AUGUST carrying boxes off a truck like you care about us.

Editorial: Obama Is Right on the Trans-Pacific Partnership

    Editorial Board // Bloomberg

The U.S. will be the TPP’s largest economic beneficiary in absolute terms. Its provisions have the potential to advance long-standing progressive goals on labor and the environment, dismantle a thicket of protectionist regulations, and reignite global trade liberalization largely on U.S. terms. The deal will also reinforce U.S. strategic interests in the world’s most dynamic region.

As if floods, and Donald Trump’s visit aren’t bad enough for Louisiana, now there are alligators who have escaped from some pen floating in the flood waters. I forget exactly how many, but of the total, only 5 have been captured so far. (ABCnews)

        Hi DF ❤
Phone banking was beneficial and encouraging. We are building teams of consistent volunteers making calls and it is so exciting when a new phone banker gets someone who says "Yes, I'm voting for Hillary". Last Saturday, we were at a restaurant that was raising money for three students to receive scholarship money from purchase proceeds. At the end of our phonebanking, we had scores of people stopping by to say they were voting for Hillary AND the restaurant raised @ $1,100 for each student!!! So we returned to that restaurant today to continue the support and to thank him for allowing us to use his establishment. I always leave after a day of phone banking and inputting the data so encouraged and very tired. I'm eating a scoop of sherbet now 😀

Hi GGail – I love reading all the GOTV stories – it’s so different to our elections cause everyone votes & phone calls to voters are non-existent (well a white lie – ONCE in my lifetime did I get a call asking me to vote for a candidate).

Your efforts will be well rewarded with the landslide in November – I refuse to think there could be any other result.

Tika Sumpter on Playing the Future First Lady, Michelle Obama
    AUG. 18, 2016

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Tika Sumpter knew the screenplay was something special. It was, at its core, a romance, with two charming leads slowly falling for each other over the course of a single Chicago day. They speak passionately — at some points, angrily — about moral courage and racial politics and the struggles of staying true to oneself. They take sides on “Good Times” versus “The Brady Bunch,” ice cream versus pie. They quote the poet Gwendolyn Brooks (“We Real Cool”) from memory, while sizing up Ernie Barnes’s painting “Sugar Shack.” They watch “Do the Right Thing.”
