    Aloha TOD peeps!
A friend who is very pro-Bama and pro-Hill asked me for info on Scary Johnson. She said her family on the mainland, in Nevada, Utah, and Arizona, are unwilling to vote for nasty-ass T-rump, but they have drunk the Shillary-coolaid, and so have decided Johnson is their candidate. I remember a week or more ago, someone here posted a very good piece on the actual awfulness of Johnson’s policy positions, but now I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone remember that post? My friend asked me to please send her anything she can forward to the folks at risk of voting Scary. Mahalo nui!

Remember this tomorrow. More of the letter at the link

    May 26, 2016
An open letter to Donald J. Trump:

On behalf of the countless New York citizens and businesses who worked so hard to heal after the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, I have a simple question:
When do you plan on returning the taxpayer money that was designated to ease the suffering of our city’s small business owners?

Many Americans may be surprised to learn that after 9/11, you deliberately sought and accepted money from a fund designed to help small business owners harmed by the attacks. Using one of your companies – 40 Wall Street LLC, through which you own a skyscraper in Manhattan – you obtained funds from the World Trade Center Business Recovery Grant program.

It’s been reported that on your grant application, you claimed 40 Wall Street LLC – which employed 28 people and had $26.8 million in annual revenues at the time – as a “small business.” Despite the federal definition of a small business as having less than $6 million in revenue, you accepted a $150,000 payout.

In grabbing that money with both fists, you took it out of the pockets of small business owners in New York who were truly hurting, and prevented them from taking full advantage of the relief so generously offered by their fellow citizens.

You claim to be one of the biggest, richest, most successful developers in the city – yet you took taxpayer money from a grant program designed to help the “little guys.” Do you really consider yourself a small businessman? You have staked your reputation and your campaign on being anything but.

Of course, we should. The statement was absolutely true and nuanced enough to conclude that Secretary Clinton doesn’t believe that all Trump supporters are bigots. She’s pointing out the truth that too many are. Between White Supremacists, alt-right, etc., it’s clear that many Trump supporters are voting for him strictly because of his bigoted comments.

  12. September 10, 2016 at 6:42 pm

Thus a reporter or an outlet pointing out the evidenced racism of Trump’s supporters in response to a statement made by his rival risks being seen as having taken a side not just against Trump, not just against racism, but against his supporters too. Would it not be better, then, to simply change the subject to one where “both sides” can be rendered as credible? Real and serious questions about intractable problems are thus translated into one uncontroversial question: “Who will win?”

TNC is a great writer. I’m glad he has addressed this. If you are supporting a man who was sued for discrimination in the 70s and who has made several racist, sexist and xenophobic comments during his campaign, then you are part of the problem and are just as bigoted as he is. Nothing shocking or controversial about that.

This fucking election can not be over fast enough for me.

WASHINGTON ― Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump used companies he controlled to donate more than was legally allowed to the 2006 Florida gubernatorial campaign of Attorney General Charlie Crist, according to a review of state campaign finance records by The Huffington Post.

The four contributions from Trump and his companies totaled $2,000 for Crist’s campaign at a time when the maximum campaign contribution allowed by an individual or a corporation was $500. At the time, Trump did not disclose that the donations all came from him, and regulators did not identify the companies as being part of Trump’s real estate empire.

The contributions included $500 from Trump himself; $500 from 40 Wall Street LLC, a company Trump controls; $500 from VH Property Corp DBA Trump National Golf Course, a Trump company that operates mainly in California; and $500 from Wollman Rink Operations LLC, a company Trump created to manage an ice skating rink in Manhattan’s Central Park.

The four contributions were first identified by the Democratic Coalition Against Trump, a group supporting Trump’s rival, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump identified all three companies as under his control in his personal financial disclosure report to the Office of Government Ethics, filed in the summer of 2015.

A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign did not immediately respond on Friday to questions from The Huffington Post. At the time of the gifts, Crist was a Republican, but in recent years the former governor has run as an Independent and as a Democrat.

Well, if these suspicions are correct then maybe this didn’t take as long to happen as I guessed.

I’m so proud of us SoCal Dems who are doing more than gnashing teeth. Today I went to the Pasadena Hillary Campaign Office to do phone banking and data entry with my Team. The place was wall to wall packed with people making phone calls. My team made calls to Nevada, while the rest were calling CA for support up and down the ticket. I swelled with pride as voices all around me were busy talking and getting verbal affirmations from those they called! As I began to enter data, I found more people in Nevada who Strongly Supports Hillary. I found two who said they plan to vote for Trump. I was so shocked, I didn’t know where to place the responses, LOL!!!

The Campaign Office also has Hillary items; buttons, shirts, lawn signs, etc. for sale.

It is so hard all the places I work have some real radicals and I don’t want to get into shouting matches so I have to keep my mouth shut and not have any items yet. We talked about this this morning at my Sacred Journey group this morning. It is so volatile that for us peace loving folk it is hard to deal with. I am so close to blowing but I worry about how it would affect all the people I work with. But they don’t think of me.

Trump is not “leading one of the largest campaigns of white nationalists.” Rather, he is leading the largest campaign of “WHITE SUPREMACISTS,” who want to return the United States to the time when whites, and especially white males, were supreme, and all the non-whites and women were inferiors who must occupy a secondary position in society. The so called “white nationalism” is a polite euphemism for the good old “WHITE SUPREMACY.” The so called “white nationalists,” as well as Donald Trump’s campaign slogan; “Making America Great Again,” are all about restoring “WHITE SUPREMACY.”

On November 8, we will definitely find out if the vast majority of white people in this country, both men and women, are in favor of restoring “WHITE SUPREMACY” and “WHITE MALE DOMINATION.” Personally, I think that if the coalition that twice elected President Obama comes out in force on November, 8 2016, the “WHITE SUPREMACISTS” will be thoroughly defeated.

Have you ever noticed the guys the dad picks for his daughter to be a potential spouse are the wealthy ones with the slicked back hair, uptight attitude and wealthy snobbish air about them? The daughter never likes them then after awhile the dad discovers they are not authentic, but are conmen, controlling and looking to ad more status and wealth to themselves. Campaigns, however, do know who is winning the game as it is being played. They have never relied on exit polls, which were designed to illuminate who voted and why, for the benefit of postelection analysis, not to predict results in real time. Instead, candidates, parties, and super PACs use a combination of analytics and active tracking of turnout across preselected precincts to produce rolling projections of how many votes they have won as the ballots are cast. They have found this method to be uncannily accurate at matching the ultimate vote count.

Voters have never had access to such analytics, but there is no reason that journalists can’t apply the same methods as the campaigns—and there are very good reasons why doing so is in the public interest. A group of election veterans has therefore come together to form a new company called Votecastr, in which I am a partner, and we are building our own version of that Election Day data apparatus. In partnership with Slate, Votecastr will publicly debut its system on Nov. 8. From the moment that polls open on the East Coast, Slate readers will know as much about how many votes Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have accumulated across the battleground states as Hillary and Donald and their teams do. Our goal is not to beat the networks and wire services to declaring winners and losers—election night will still belong to their analysts and their magic walls—but to guarantee that citizens who have been entrusted with a vote also have access to as much information as possible about how their fellow citizens are voting.

Donald Trump’s 9/11 cleanup effort was more about sweeping up cash than helping New Yorkers.

When confronted with questions about why he took $150,000 in government money meant to help small businesses recover from 9/11, Donald Trump has repeatedly suggested he got that money for helping others out after the tragedy.

But documents obtained by the Daily News show that Trump’s account was just a huge lie.

“It was probably a reimbursement for the fact that I allowed people, for many months, to stay in the building, use the building and store things in the building,” Trump told Time Magazine in April. “I was happy to do it and to this day I am still being thanked for the many people I helped. The value of what I did was far greater than the money talked about, much of which was sent automatically to building owners in the area.”

But those comments don’t match the forms Trump’s company submitted to the New York state government requesting the money for his property, The Trump Building, located at 40 Wall St.

Those documents, exclusively obtained by The News from the Empire State Development Corporation which administered the recovery program, show Trump’s company asked for those funds for “rent loss,” “cleanup” and “repair” — not to recuperate money lost in helping people.

    scummiest of the scum.

Donald Trump was in a tuxedo, standing next to his award: a statue of a palm tree, as tall as a toddler. It was 2010, and Trump was being honored by a charity — the Palm Beach Police Foundation — for his “selfless support” of its cause.

His support did not include any of his own money.

Instead, Trump had found a way to give away somebody else’s money and claim the credit for himself.

Trump had earlier gone to a charity in New Jersey — the Charles Evans Foundation, named for a deceased businessman — and asked for a donation. Trump said he was raising money for the Palm Beach Police Foundation.

The Evans Foundation said yes. In 2009 and 2010, it gave a total of $150,000 to the Donald J. Trump Foundation, a small charity that the Republican presidential nominee founded in 1987.

Then, Trump’s foundation turned around and made donations to the police group in South Florida. In those years, the Trump Foundation’s gifts totaled $150,000.

Trump had effectively turned the Evans Foundation’s gifts into his own gifts, without adding any money of his own.
