Just happened to spot on twitter that Luke Russert left NBC/MSNBC in mid-July, to pursue other interests. Didn’t even notice!

I was curious about Luke Russert’s posts today as it seems from his comments that he is against the Republican Party. It didn’t seem like it when he was at MSNBC. Leaving to pursue other interests sometimes means being let go, but allowing the person to save face with that announcement. Wonder what he is doing now and whether his leaving was due to his own decision or not?

He seemed to be in a pensive mood in something I read … saying he went directly to on-camera news after college and the death of his dad and it had been a whirlwind for him. Not sure if he was let go or not, but he seems to like sports (Buffalo variety) as much as his dad, so maybe that’s where his “news” career will end up.

    What’s up with this???

“Katie Johnson” is the pseudonym under which the plaintiff of a lawsuit against Republican presidential candidate has filed her lawsuit alleging Trump raped a 13-year-old girl. That lawsuit has now been dropped and refiled in New York City under “Jane Doe” and indicates there is a new witness.

The suit alleges that Trump and billionaire investor Jeffrey Epstein lured the 13-year-old and several other young women to various parties they hosted during the 1990s. There was allegedly a promise of modeling contracts and money, but neither manifested.

If I’m recalling correctly, the trial (or at least depositions) was to begin in October, so a delay might make it post-election.

I had seen some tweets in past weeks talking about a September 15th court date, but then saw nothing reported on that date. Now I know why.

I also note that the MSM is saying nothing about it. At least *I’ve* seen nothing.

    TOD:
America should be insulted, embarrassed , and ashamed that this man could very possibly be the next president.
Any person making a protest vote, or no vote this time around, needs to wake the hell up!
I AM SO PISSED! At the media, at the republicans, at any and everybody who gave Donald Trump legitimacy.
The republicans and certain media have fertilized the lethal garden that has produced Trump.
Black, Brown and White folk, if we are not careful, an ugly group of Americans are about to tell us how they really feel about us .
In fact they are showing us already – just look at the polls.
I don’t want to even talk to anyone who is voting for Trump, and even less, those who refuse to vote because of some mis-placed ideological disappointment.
If you vote for Trump, or don’t vote for Hilary, or don’t vote at all, then you are your own worse enemy and as much of an enemy of America as Trump is.

I am becoming less tolerant of people that are Republicans voting for Trump. Also, people that are just plain fed up and don’t vote or vote for a third party as a protest. So I feel more alone these days since I live in a rural area and am surrounded by these people. Donald Trump has brought out the worst in these people. He legitimizes their thinking allowing them to voice their opinions.

We have a right wing racist bigot recently voted into our parliament. Visited a friend today who told me she was voted for because most people agree with her views (including my friend). Reminded him that like all white Australians he was descended from immigrants and to treat current immigrants in this racist fashion is disgusting. Don’t know if we are still friends but he sure won’t discuss it with me again.

100% of Trump’s campaign is racist white men against the rest. Sadly some who do not fall into the group fail to see what he is doing & for that – I blame the media. They have supported and encouraged this excuse for a human and now will see the result of their work.

  29. September 17, 2016 at 9:08 am

I think that the timing of the birther issue in a sense helps Trump. I agree that he shouldn’t be given a pass for the last 5 years, and that the media should continue to question him about it.

But for some reason, when it comes to Trump, the media is unable to multi-task. So while the focus is on birtherism, it is not on his taxes and whether he is really even being audited. The focus is not on Trump U. The focus is not on Trump Foundation and his questionable donations. It is not on his pay-to-play scheme with Pam Bondi, and most probably Greg Abbott. The focus is not on the Trump Organization, his financial ties to our international allies and adversaries, and the probable conflict of interest should he become President. The focus is not on how he cheated vendors and employees out of pay they had earned. He does not have to explain the hypocrisies of his campaign, of which there are many.

But most of all, the focus is not on his policies, or lack thereof. He is not being made to explain his “plans”. He doesn’t have to get into the detail about how it will work and how he will pay for it. He doesn’t have to reveal who benefits and who loses. His lack of understanding of the Constitution and the branches of government does not get highlighted.

When we go from channel to channel, everyone is talking about the same thing. Surrogates are responding to the same questions. There are enough issues that all the 24/7 cycles don’t have to be about one subject. If the media would raise the bar for someone running for President back to where it belongs and stop giving Trump passes, *THEY* could set the agenda instead of letting Trump determine what will be the topic of the day. If “journalists” truly have initiative, were not lazy and would do the necessary research (they have the resources), and could actually focus, they wouldn’t keep reacting to every crazy thing that Trump says and actual give voters information that would be useful.

This man is a manipulator by excellence.

      • September 17, 2016 at 9:21 am

Sadly, the media knows what Trump has been and is doing. But for some reason they choose to go along with it.

      • September 17, 2016 at 9:31 am

swbluega, here is how I see this birther issue, and as a black American the Clinton campaign should not let it go. Because if the black community is like me they are piss off with this birther issue, we see it as Trump totally disrespecting our President and his family and it makes me want to vote against Trump even more. So in a way it will get some of us ready to go to the polls even more.

        • September 17, 2016 at 9:46 am

When we look at our first black President and his family, we see pride. We might not agree with everything he has done or not done, but they are someone we never, I mean never ever thought we would see, a black family in the White House.

        • September 17, 2016 at 11:04 am

Oh, I’m not saying that the Clinton campaign should let it go, Bella, by no means. I’m just saying that the media should not allow him to do the okie doke by focusing all *their* attention on the birther issue and letting Trump slide on all the other issues that they should be addressing and he should be held accountable for. To me, the stunt he pulled yesterday was his way of avoiding having to answer to the other issues for which he probably has no answer or no good answer.

“Donald Trump’s birther event is the greatest trick he’s ever pulled”

        https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/09/16/donald-trumps-birther-event-is-the-greatest-trick-hes-ever-pulled/

Donald Trump is, at heart, a showman…Trump may have outdone himself on Friday morning…The word was that Trump would walk away from his past skepticism about President Obama’s citizenship while also laying the blame for the birther movement at the feet of Hillary Clinton…And say it he did.

But neither of those things were the most amazing part of that Trump event. The most amazing thing was that it took the Republican nominee 29 minutes to deliver those three sentences. [Prior to that] he ceded the stage to a parade of decorated military veterans who testified to his toughness, his judgment and his temperament.

All three of them — MSNBC, Fox News and CNN — stayed with the generals’ testimonials for the better part of 20 minutes. That’s a remarkable amount of *free* cable time to dedicate to a series of surrogates testifying how great one of the two party nominees is.

Trump drew an hour and a half of live coverage for:

        1. An empty podium.

        2. A series of military endorsements/testimonials.

        3. Three sentences from Trump himself — one that is totally false and two others that represent a total reversal from a position he held as recently as, well, Thursday night.

Mrs Clinton should NOT have to address her trustworthiness and her judgement – only people who have ever cast doubts in that direction are GOP bigots and the US media.

At the minute she should be seen as 2nd only to the President in these areas – and if the media stopped reporting on Trump lies in relation to Sec Clinton people might begin seeing the truth.

      • September 17, 2016 at 12:57 pm

Coming from a Republican this statement isn’t too bad. He has immediately disqualified Trump and said Clinton may get his endorsement and that of other Republicans.

Dems continually give republicans a pass if they can say something that doesn’t include outright lies. I don’t see it. All of them that may (MAY) support Hillary always give her negatives before unloading on Trump.

She deserves the vote because of who she is and what she stands for – not because her opponent is Trump.

My own opinion about why the press has held up Donald Trump is because: he makes their corporations money. News about the The Don? click click click. What’s this about DT and what he said? buy buy buy. And that kind of avarice has supported the haters and the bigots. Gave them the wear-with-all to come out from the rocks they were all hiding under.

This kind of love of money and the hate that pursuit has generated has been going on a long time. We all have seen it ever since PBO was elected back in 2008. It was there festering before then as well but the media/Trump who lie in the same festering hole have been experts at cooking it up for these last few years. And now, we have this.

I’m sorry to be such a negative nellie. I don’t say these things to others in my everyday life. I feel I can say them here and you guys will understand.

    • 105 99ts
      September 17, 2016 at 10:21 am

I say it to friends and family alice – this continual striving for more and more money by those who have so much more than enough – while wanting to deprive folks of any minor safety net in their trek through life is so horrible. So many governments are balancing budgets on the backs of the poor – and yet these people still get votes. Somewhere in the 21st century love of money has overtaken our love for each other.

The rise of Trump seems to be the result of a world bent on self destruction. It is hard not to be negative – PBO is a chasm away from anyone else. How Trump is even in the line of sight is just too weird.

I like how she addressed this:

“And when people talk about [Hillary’s] long history,” she continued, “there may be things that you may not particularly agree with at some point. Like I know a lot of millennials talk about her position on criminal justice reform and the ‘superpredators’ stuff, and I hear that and I understand it. I would rather vote for the candidate who is willing to address mistakes, address issues, take responsibility, be accountable, be a part of a changed solution rather than a candidate who continues to perpetuate fear and hate in the present moment.”

Hubby and I are on our way back to our daughter’s. (She and the kids really need us. Probably be here for two weeks!). Anyway, locked in car, we’ve had a small political discussion. He said, “Hillary Clinton is a crook.” I asked if he could prove it. All his answers/comments are directly what he has heard from the “media” for 25 years. Yet, he turns around and says all media is just entertainment/reality TV. Get doesn’t see the oxymoron of his comments. Anyway, he also pretty much said he will be one of many Republucans who do not vote. Says it will all come down to turnout. I wanted to but didn’t bring up voter suppression because he doesn’t “get” that at all. We’ve had numerous discussions about that. 😥

Anyway, think of us over next weeks. Love to all, especially NW and Chips.

I have been mentally composing my farewell letter of gratitude and love to PBO and one thing that I do know that I will add to the final version when I send it to him is this: I have learned more about how to be a Christian from watching Barack Obama’s example from any and everyone that I have observed with the exception of my mother (and I am a person who has been “churched” in one form or another for almost 60 years). The Bible says that God will make our enemies our footstools and warns us against vengeance for the wrongs done us because he says “I will repay.” Call it karma, Providence, the Universe or whatever you wish, but this is so true and is starkly evidenced in what we have seen since Barack Hussein Obama burst on the national scene. All of those who lied and despitefully used him, here and abroad, are falling by the wayside, while he is rising. Cantor, Cruz, Boehner, Rubio, Ryan all gone or so ineffectual they may as well be gone. The GOP in disarray; their weapon of hate turned against them. The media that he worked around to get his message out to various groups, is every day becoming more of an ineffectual laughing stock; burned time and again by the carnival barker that they uplifted. PBO did not spend precious time trying to defend himself against the lies and vulgarity; as he said on that dark day when he showed his long form birth certificate: “I have work to do.” He did not develop an enemies list and plan and plot to destroy them. Nor did he did not fall into the trap into thinking that every white person is a greedy racist. Even though I know that there must have been days when he was saddened to see how far legislators would go to hurt all of us to hurt him, he never let it show. No matter how difficult things were, or how dark the days, he found a way to rise above it all and to lift us up as well. I remember how down many of us were, ready to just up after the 2014 mid-terms, but he was able to rally us. He took it all for us and those who have tried to destroy him, have been and are destroying themselves.

Happy news!!!! Thank you, Mom, for a job well done! I would have been so appreciative if my little one had been on your bus. May God bless you, your *children*, and their families.
