Running several days behind, and just finished watching a video meta posted on Obama’s first 4 yrs. Started me crying, and writing. Thought I would share what I posted way back there.

“Oh, meta, I’m running several days behind, and you just started my day off with sobs with this video. So proud of this man, so grateful we have had him as our dear president for almost 8 years, as a roll model for so many on how to put others first, their needs first, before their own, unlike most politicians who focus on reelection or another committee appointment, etc., Still so amazed at what he has been able to accomplish with such an obstructive Congress. And, of course, tears for all of us when we can no longer spend each day with him and his family, sharing his experiences, joys and sorrows.
With him, and the help of Pete Sousa, we have visited almost every country in the world, certainly every state, many national parks. We have learned about peoples and cultures the media never tells us about, and opened our eyes to the needs of others in our nation and abroad, and shown us how to give respect and care to others, sometimes with just a full blown sincere smile or touch of his hand.
The joyful tears I am shedding blend with the ones of sorrow at the thought of this dear friend, for that is how I think of him, moving on in a few months. I thank God for all these photos and videos, for they will help a bit with the pain of his leaving. And I look forward with such expectation for what he and his family and the Bidens will be doing come January.
And one last thing I just realized. In January all of his staff, all of those who have been with him, whether for a few months or all 8 years, or more, will be unleashed across this country to bring his way of governing, of problem solving, of inclusiveness, to wherever they work and live. It will be a wave of Obamanism that will spread across the land, exciting and invigorating this country to even greater heights. I am so looking forward to that.”

Watching this segment again,( thanks for posting it Nerdy, its important), one tangential observation is that anyone sitting with the President ostensibly working with him on something in good faith, goes up in my estimation. President Obama has that effect. Let’s call it the Obama effect, or just one part of it. Its good to be associated with such a great man. One just seems more intelligent and thoughtful sitting next to him.

They can’t help attacking Hillary – just like those who would attack Trump – have to give Hillary negatives. They are despicable.

I have an encouraging word from my state. This morning the headline in The Oklahoman read: “Clinton gains ground on Trump in state, polls show.” This is truly stunning news. It shows the importance of the ground game for our Democratic candidates for state offices, and the dissatisfaction with our governor. It is also surprising, and surprising that the editor of this far right rag would publish it.

I believe HRC reached her low point last weekend, and Trump reached his high. Slogging work as so many here remind us, is the key.

Two of my friends at church are running for the state legislature. They are both Democrats. They are out EVERY weekend with their volunteers knocking on doors and talking with people. I think at least one of them is going to win, and am hopeful for the other.

Sounds very good carolyn – I keep thinking the Clintons have a much better relationship with folks in the South than Trump – Hillary has a quiet faith that has never wavered and surely sooner or later the southern christians have to accept that Trump has NO religion – never has, never will.

I am not of any religious persuasion but was raised a christian and I cannot believe that Trump and his values (or lack thereof) have anything to do with religious beliefs. My knowledge of the scriptures is very basic but miles ahead of anything Trump knows or understands.

“during that entire week the dominant news story wasn’t about these huge monumental choices that we’re going to make as a nation, it was about my birth certificate”

And the US media has got much worse as the years have passed. This is why Trump has a chance to be elected. The media cares about nothing people and policy – they want entertainment.

Which reminds me – I hope Hillary refuses to have anything to do with the WHPC and their annual dinner. Take away their access.

Fox Panel Actually Debates Whether Birtherism Is Racist or Not
    7:46 pm, September 16th, 2016

Tonight Fox News’ On the Record debated whether birtherism is inherently racist:

Brit Hume raised the question tonight and actually read the dictionary definition of racism on the air to ask whether birtherism is, in fact, racist.

Washington Times writer Stephen Dinan said it’s certainly ridiculous and “ignorant,” but while “there are probably racists who are birthers,” it’s not necessarily inherently racist “to question where the president was born.”

USA Today‘s Heidi Przybyla agreed it’s not necessarily the “textbook definition” of racism, but pointed out it was an effort to delegitimize the first black president, so…

Hume said it’s clear it was a nasty, horrible effort to delegitimize President Obama, but said, “I just always wonder when that word ‘racism’ begins to be flung around.”

People talking themselves into the alternate reality where bad behavior is actually a good thing. This is mental illness.

    • 49 99ts
      September 17, 2016 at 9:53 pm

But they never discussed this when it was happening – they simply agreed that there were doubts about the President’s birth. Funny how they think it is bad now that the President is near the end of his term.

    Birther Nation: Alive and Well
Whatever Trump said yesterday, his supporters know he’s privately agreed with them all along.

    By MICHAEL GRUNWALD
    September 17, 2016

MIAMI—Many of Donald Trump’s supporters at his raucous rally here Friday night still believe President Obama was born in Kenya. “I know it in my heart,” said Pedro Almeyda, an elevator engineer. Others still aren’t sure. “He doesn’t show love for this country, but who knows?” asked Carmen Suarez, a retired nurse. And still others always knew Obama is a native-born American. “I never took that stuff seriously,” said James Fry, the owner of a real estate firm.

But this much was clear: Trump’s sudden abandonment of his five-year birther crusade on Friday does not seem to have changed how his supporters view either him or Obama. In interviews at the rally, the birthers and non-birthers all seemed to think that Trump has privately agreed with them all along, and all praised his flip-flop as a shrewd political stratagem to change an inconvenient subject. Most of them also trashed Obama as an unpatriotic disaster, whether or not they thought he was really born here.

“I never believed Obama was a real American, but really, I could give a crap,” said Jim Neubauer, a self-employed inventor who came to the rally with his grandson. “He’s been terrible, Trump will be great, and Democrats are just using this to try to call him racist. Let’s talk about stuff that matters.”

    Yeah….

THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS ARE SOME BITCHES. I’M ACTIVELY ROOTING AGAINST THEM ALL SEASON.
    Panama Jackson, 9/17/16

The entire Seattle Seahawks team is a bunch of bitches.

Since Colin Kaepernick’s protest against the anthem became public, several players (and teams) from the amateur ranks all the way to the professional have joined in in hopes of pushing forward a conversation to spearhead change. The protests have seeped into other professional sports and will likely continue to do so for a while to come.

Unfortunately, and despite the point of the protest to shed light on and move the needle on injustice and police brutality, especially towards people of color, lots of people don’t get it. That’s expected. Many, many people, especially smart people, are intentionally obtuse and dense when it comes to the plight of others. Even some of the “others” don’t realize that racism is still a thing. I’m looking at you Lil Wayne. Just because white people come to your shows doesn’t mean racism isn’t a thing, you dolt. And Cam Newton? #girlIguess. Both of y’all are some bitches, too.

But they aren’t bigger bitches than the Seattle Seahawks. Shortly before Week 1 of the NFL season began, Doug Baldwin of the Bitchass Seattle Seahawks let it be known that the entire Seahawks team was going to participate in a team-wide demonstration. In some way, they’d been moved to action, but as opposed to a single man, such as Kaepernick, taking the burden, the entire team was joining the fray.

Could it be that an entire roster of NFL players would stand on the side of injustice anywhere is a threat to justice anywhere? Could it be?

What I’d like to see is a true landslide victory for Hillary, in all 50 states. I’d like to see President Obama and our First Lady be the ones to “welcome” Hillary and Bill to the White House, around the time of her Inauguration.

Mostly what I am hoping and praying for is a total loss for Trump. I want his red-faced voters to only be a relative handful, to run back into obscurity. My hope is that in the next 50-odd days, the big and the powerful and the lesser-known and local Republicans and Independents across the country will come out against him. My hope is that as many Democrats and Independents and Republicans who are paying attention hit the voting booths or otherwise send their votes in, to put Hillary way over the top.

Here’s to a crushing blow for Trump. Here’s to a relatively slow, painful end of his “business” partnerships and dealings. Here’s to his final embarrassing bankruptcy. And many cancellations at his resorts here and there. And the media’s refusal to take his calls or schedule his appearances. Never in my life have I wished this on anybody, but I want to see a broken man – the same “man” who tried to break our country and its spirit. No, I do not plan to look for any follow-up WHEN he loses – I don’t want to hear how far he fell or how it affected him – just to see him GONE from the national stage will be like a gift that keeps on giving.

And then we can all truly bask in the glow that President Obama’s “legacy” is going to continue to give us crazy Obots. #YesWeCan ❤
