I agree that Biden’s response to Trumps comments about PTSD was a powerful reprimand. Empathy and the ability to filter your thoughts are two qualities needed by the POTUS that DJT does not have.

Morning. PBO and VP Biden are people of compassion and empathy, as are Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine. Trump was with born without empathy or had that quality stamped out in him by his upbringing. As a result, he is literally lost in the world of real human interaction. He knows only himself and the things that give him pleasure and a sense of power. Because he is empathy disabled, he can’t feign it in situations where he’s called on to act like a fully functioning human being. His emotional disability has literally crippled him and his arrogance won’t even allow him to learn how to ‘act’ the part from others. DT does not even possess the self awareness to realize when he’s flailing because his brain can’t process the concept of his own inadequacy. He has literally no coping mechanism to deal with failure, which is why his attempt at the presidency will be the weapon of his own destruction and the wounds will all be self inflicted.

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain has dined with actors, musicians, foreign politicians and even a sitting president. But there’s one person he refuses to eat with: Donald Trump.

“Absolutely f—ing not,” Bourdain said in an interview with the entertainment site TheWrap.

Bourdain said that as a longtime New Yorker, he’s watched how the GOP nominee and real estate billionaire conducts business and treats people he works with.

“I would give the same answer that I would have given 10 years ago, when he was just as loathsome,” he said.

Clinton Foundation Attacks Boomerang on Trump
    by Martin Longman
    October 3, 2016 3:13 PM

I doubt that Trump much cares that he can’t do any more fundraising for charity using his Donald J. Trump Foundation, but he’s got to be concerned about this:

The Trump Foundation never registered under article 7A of New York’s Executive Law, according to the Post, as is required for any charity asking for more than $25,000 per year from the public.

That means Trump’s foundation has avoided any of the outside audits New York law requires of larger charities.
“The Trump Foundation must immediately cease soliciting contributions or engaging in any other fundraising activities in New York,” Sheehan wrote to the Trump Foundation.

Schneiderman ordered the foundation supply the state all the legal paperwork required of charities that solicit money from the public within 15 days, according to the Post.

The foundation must also provide all financial audit reports it should have provided in previous years.

Considering the fact that it’s now clear that Trump has used his foundation as a slush fund to hide income, avoid taxes, make illegal political contributions, spend other people’s money to falsely make himself look like a philanthropist and to give himself gifts, I can’t imagine that he will want to provide the New York attorney general with “all the financial audit reports it should have provided in previous years.”

He needs to be confronted with this tonight…and Tim Kaine needs to go hard on him!

One question Donald Trump’s running mate should get at Tuesday night’s vice presidential debate: Why has he made buying guns in his state easier when Indianapolis’s murder rate tops Chicago’s?

Pence’s most notable actions as governor with regard to firearms include arranging for the NRA to train the Indiana National Guard in carrying concealed weapons. Pence also signed laws that legalized sawed-off shotguns, permitted people to keep guns in vehicles in school parking lots, and retroactively barred a 1999 suit by the city of Gary against gun manufacturers.

Good Tuesday morning TOD… thank you as always, Ms. Amazing Nerdy.. and miss you daily Ms. Chips.

Just a heads-up to everyone… I just received a phone call from “the U.S. Census Bureau”. Not. As soon as I questioned that the census bureau would call me or anyone- they hung up. They were trying to verify my address. Anyhoo, newest scam, apparently.

Have a lovely day, everyone 🙂

welp, just stuck my foot in it. It is NOT a SCAM. I looked up the census bureau, called and spoke to a person and yes they are in fact doing phone and mailing surveys. Why this person hung up when I questioned her is beyond my (or the other census worker’s understanding). So color me embarrassed for telling this lie all over the blog. Very sorry, folks.

It isn’t a scam. My husband works for the Census and calls on people to do survey’s. They should talk to you first about why they are calling and the survey they are doing. I didn’t realize until my husband started doing this about all the surveys they do. It is very important. Glad you called them.

    GM TODville.

Logged on to Internet late (i.e., not 5 or 6am PDT), which means I’m way behind on what’s happened so far today, but @mattdpearce’s twitter timeline has some illuminating tweets not related to the space-consuming anti-Americans sucking up today’s news (i.e., Assange and Trump).

This is simply remarkable — a patron of a public library and one of the librarians were ARRESTED simply because the (Jewish) patron asked a follow up question. This despite:

“The executive director the Kansas City library system says he is “outraged” that prosecutors continue to pursue charges against a man who was arrested after asking pointed questions during a library discussion about the Middle East peace process and an employee who tried to intervene.”

The patron said he would have left if someone had asked him to, but no, in 2016 apparently the First Amendment means nothing to some our police departments. WTH?

And this is fascinating (Chicago Cubs owner Wrigley opposed the playing of the national anthem because it “cheapened” the song).

    Fascinating nuggets from this article:

Wrigley relented and allowed the playing of the national anthem before Cubs’ games in 1967 (because we were at war in Vietnam):
“The chewing gum magnate previously had reserved the anthem only for special occasions such as opening day, holidays and in times of war.”

    snip /

“a 2004 Harris survey found 61 percent of American adults did not know the song’s (national anthem) words…” despite the fact that “There is no other country that plays its national anthem as much…” (quotes taken out of sequence from the article)

    snip /

Interesting fact about Northern Illinois University:
“Forty-five years ago, tensions were so high at Northern Illinois University that the school banned playing the national anthem before basketball games because of objections from African-American students.”

            October 4, 2016 at 6:51 pm

No no no what Bill Clinton did was a good thing, He’s pulling in the diverse small business and white middle class vote. These are things POTUS wanted to fix. Bill Clinton didn’t say Ocare was crazy. He said 25 million more people have healthcare while small businesses and some middle classes make too much to access subsidies. He said this is what’s crazy. Trust me. This is a good thing.

      • October 4, 2016 at 12:16 pm

And POTUS is going to campaign for HRC in FL and give a speech on Obamacare. ARGH. I could scream!

        • 63 idon
          October 4, 2016 at 8:02 pm

It’s okay Bill Clinton did not go off the reservation. Dems have highly sophisticated internal voter data and Bill Clinton was assigned the task of acknowledging some of the issues VOTERS have raised about Ocare even though they may love it. Then PBO goes in touts his signature legislation, Obamacare and then brings up the stuff that needs to be fixed and the only person we can trust to do that is our next President, Hillary Clinton. Then he adds she’ll need a BLUE CONGRESS to fix it fast. So if you were thinking about splitting your vote. DON’T. Go completely BLUE.

Think of it as three dimensional chess. POTUS doesn’t care what they pundits are saying, Dem data tells him and everyone on TeamHillary what tweaks they need to make. POTUS and HRC are all about winning this thing. Assuring small businesses and middle class white voters whose rates whose premiums have gone up that it’s gonna get fixed with HRC at the helm is a good thing.

Please just chill, GOTV and watch PBO werk it.

You know what really bothers me the most, pf? This is President Obama’s SIGNATURE issue, the one he fought tooth and nail for over the course of a year, day after day after day, at great political cost to so many. • October 4, 2016 at 2:35 pm

And right at the time that Trump is imploding, he’s giving Trump’s campaign an enormous gift. Hillary must be MAD, MAD…

I think, I hope Bill just wanted to explain what needs to be fixed but boy oh boy is he “rusty” in terms of politics. And yes, his EGO is a part of it; I’m sure he is convince HE, and Hillary, would have negotiated a better law. To be fair, I think he has come to appreciate Barack Obama; however, he has ALWAYS felt superior to him and he has always felt that Hillary is superior to the president too. In my opinion it’s one of the factors that makes him careless in his remarks.

In other words… To comment on the president and his policies, Bill Clinton can’t be completely natural because he finds the president and his policies lacking somewhat. So when he lowers his guard , as he often does in a friendly environment, you have a “gaffe” like this … and a tremendous gift to republicans.

When I read this article earlier and thought about all the other devious, conniving, things Trump has done so that *he* could continue to live in the lap of luxury, it just hones in on the fact DJT is all about himself. In his mind, he has contrived a way in which a presidential campaign — and perhaps the presidency — can enrich him further.

But in his conniving way, he also sets things up that others will take the fall and eat the costs. All those surrogates and supporters who believe that their loyalty will be rewarded when all is said and done are in denial. They are ignoring how Trump has treated others in the past. When they are of no further use to him, he will kick them to the curb and allow them to be scapegoats for all the negative fallout of his candidacy. They’ve put their reputations and their careers on the line and will pay dearly for it.

If we’re lucky, this campaign may be the thing that results in Trump getting his just desserts. Everything that is coming to light…everything that WILL come to light. Running for president was the ultimate step in pursuing his greed, and could just be his downfall.

WH Press Corps to Josh Earnest:

Q: It doesn’t sound that you think that President Clinton was overly critical in describing Obamacare as it stands now.
A: It’s not exactly clear to me what argument he was making. And so I’ll let him and his team address that.
Q: Whatever argument he as making, do you wish he would have used different words other than “crazy” and “craziest thing in the world.”
    A: Of course.

    • October 4, 2016 at 2:11 pm

I may need to duck after I say this, but while his choice of words leave much to be desired, I don’t think it was Bill’s intent to be critical of Obamacare. Craziest thing ever may have been his way of describing all the good that has resulted from the ACA; the “crazy” number of people who are now insured that wouldn’t have been otherwise. At least, that’s what I would like to think.

I didn’t hear his speech. What did he say before and after that sound byte?

      • October 4, 2016 at 2:26 pm

I understand what you are saying…this is not the first time that his words have come back to bite him in the butt…but you are right…we will have to wait to see how it all plays out…

“…wait to see how it plays out…”

I agree. We assume Trump’s campaign will make a big deal about it. It won’t help if we add fuel to the fire.

If you listen and watch the comments, there’s no mistaking.

We’ll just need to move on and hope this doesn’t blow up into some major BS.

        • October 4, 2016 at 3:10 pm

Found it and listened. Both PBO and HRC have said that ACA is not perfect and there are areas for improvement. In addressing it (i.e., pricing for some) I think Bill went into too much detail. It’s unfortunate that he used the word crazy. Hopefully, HRC’s rapid response team will have a spin in place before it takes off too much.

I agree. We’ll just need to move on and hope this doesn’t blow up…

          • October 4, 2016 at 3:15 pm

He was talking about a VERY SPECIFIC affect of the law – the cut off point of subsidy eligibility, which has increased premium cost for people who fall just beyond the subsidy limit. That’s what he called crazy because the law helped expand access to healthcare to 25 million and at the same time raised the premiums of people who already had access to healthcare because they made too much to get a subsidy.

Hate that I overslept this am; missed attending the town hall…

Remember when I said that although I opened my home as the Obama’12 Morton/Springfield office, and would do the same for Biden, but NO ONE ELSE?

    Eating some words…

Meeting with Hil’s county director tomorrow; if they need the space, my doors are open…

Supporting HRC IS supporting PBO & Biden. The only way to preserve their legacy. Thanks.
