    Aloha Nerdy and all of TOD!

      Hi Susanne! I wonder where my first response to you a minute ago went? Oh well, it was nothing earth shattering!

        GM vc! Glad to see you here, and not out shattering the earth πŸ™‚
        Hoping all is well in your neighborhood.

          All is well, and I am taking it calm and easy this Sunday afternoon. In fact I just refused an invitation to come over for dinner because I have no desire to bestir myself. πŸ˜‰ How are you and the little ones (with whom you sometimes cook)? [Don’t ask me why this memory of you cooking popped into my head. I’m going bonkers…..maybe. :D]

            Wow–your memory is excellent, which is the opposite of bonkers! A couple of years ago I posted some candy-making strategies that I’d enjoyed with the 2 children I’ve babysat off and on over the last decade or so. Put some candy canes in a bag, and let the kids smash them into bits; melt some chocolate bars; pour melted choc onto parchment and sprinkle with crushed candy canes; cool and break into pieces: voila! Peppermint bark! Thanks for reminding me! πŸ™‚

            It takes quite a lot to get me to ‘bestir myself’ (love that phrase!) and tonight I’ve actually invited 2 friends to go with me to a Hawaiian music night. I’m pretty sure I now have to go πŸ™‚ But it will be a terrific cleanser after the debates! In our time zone, they start at 3 pm, so there’s still time in the day to shake it off.

              πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I’m not sure about excellent, Susanne. My memory seems to work only when it feels like, throwing up stuff at me from out of nowhere. More often than not I remember things in the middle of the night when sane people actually sleep. Offspring rolls his eyes sometimes when I start ‘I was thinking (It occurred to me) last night…….’ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

              Enjoy your after-debate Hawaiian music night!

                I’ve read recently that it’s the abundance of information we carry in our heads that makes it likely we just have to forget some of it– big brains, but still finite πŸ™‚

        Hmmm… maybe wherever your ‘first response’ went, that’s where the rest of TOD went? Oddly quiet here. Maybe everyone’s getting their popcorn ready for tonight πŸ™‚

          Or they’re still on a popcorn hunt. There was an earlier discussion that there just may not be enough popcorn to go around. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Chicken that I am, I’ll follow along here because I simply cannot listen to DT without it upsetting my stomach.

    one can see a lot of stuff on social media which you don’t if they are a joke or something else;

    I had to stop and laugh at two things:

    – Today on Twitter, Michael Moore was taking personal credit today for “motivating” the majority of Democrats to get involved in this election by posting a few reason why the homegrown demagogue will win … ok;

    – a tweet that had been shared hundred of times in which one lady referred to the revolutionary, nina turner, as a future president of the US, … I will wait;

    It would appear Trump has reached the stage

    “And then they came for me”

    Good morning from my world TOD. Spring has surely sprung. The jacarandas are out all over my town with their mauve splendor. Our school year ends in early December & the word was always to start working hard when the jacarandas bloomed πŸ™‚

    Don’t think I can cope with listening to Trump in the debate. If any stronger souls can give their thoughts about it on here – much appreciated.

    I hope Hillary quotes FLOTUS – when they go low – we go high.

      that’s the GOP in a nutshell: every man for himself, and don’t hesitate to use your elbows when pushing the women and children out of the lifeboat

  14. October 9, 2016 at 6:39 pm

    Good evening, TOD! One of those days… Mentally, had planned a sumptuous meal of roasted short ribs, baked potato, and sauteed spinach, accompanied by a fine Merlot. Unfortunately, time got away from me… Did make up two dozen egg rolls, so I just enjoyed two of them; if hungry later I’ll broil a burger… I’ll have the short ribs tomorrow.

    Meanwhile, a reminder that our kids are watching. Wish the GOP would catch a clue…

    Here’s how out of it I am! Until this DT awful tape, I had never heard of Billy Bush. I don’t watch the Today Show, so had no idea who he is. All I could think of when I heard first was Billy Beer. Anyone else old enough to remember that? President Carter’s brother Billy, had his own beer for a few months back in the 70s. I’ve got to get out more πŸ™‚
    Frankly, I don’t think I’ve missed anything.

      Hahaha! Me too! I had never heard of BB, and had to scrounge around on the internet to figure it out. My husband asked me who’s BB and I was so darn proud that I could reply! πŸ™‚

    • October 9, 2016 at 7:06 pm

      First heard of Billy Bush election night 2000; Jeb gave him the scoop that FL was going to shrub; shortly thereafter, all of the TV stations reversed their call of FL for Gore… At the time, Billy boy was a radio host in DC; he parlayed family connections into the Access Hollywood slot…

      Yes, I’m old enough to remember Billy Carter and Billy Beer… LOL

    Couple of younger folks who’ve been hanging out behind the pundits on the outdoors MSNBC pre-debate set are holding up funny signs … one says “We demand two-ply” and another says “Trump stole from my lemonade stand.”

    It’s good to laugh when facing the apocalypse, I always say!

    I just can’t ….. Trump is on TV with some women accusing Bill Clinton of whatever. If Billy Bush is off TV – this debate should be cancelled. Trump is a blot on the decency of life

    • October 9, 2016 at 8:08 pm

      Thing is, Donald just doesn’t think ahead about the ramifications of his actions. He’s lashing out by pulling these women in today; Hillary is immune to this. Tomorrow, the super pacs will have adds up of 1) trump offering interviews supportive of Hillary during the “scandal,” and 2) trump disparaging the very women he sits at the table with for this presser… Hypocrite… but, we already knew he was a snake…

        Thank you – I just could not believe that ANY person could do this.

        Must admit – current reaction from the media seems to be extremely negative. Continuing the believed pain of these women is another reminder of what Trump thinks of women. They will not get a positive result from this

        He truly has imploded

        • October 9, 2016 at 8:40 pm

          Unfortunately, their appearance with trump makes them suspect… Realize everyone reacts differently to their own circumstance, however, as a rape/abuse victim, NOTHING in this world would allow me to sit with/support a misogynist… I ask God to forgive me for wondering how much they are being paid…

    The thing is, this ramshackle campaign, following a ramshackle business career, has exposed his flaws and failures to the world and, more importantly, to the people he will brush up against for the rest of his life. To them he is now officially a joke. I suspect he knows this. And if his thin skin on minor matters is any indication, he will be lashing out with even more vitriol. He is a mad jumble of a man, with a slapdash of a campaign and talking points dredged from the dark corners at the bottom of the Internet. I don’t think he will get to the White House, but just the fact that his carny act has gotten so far along the road will leave the path with a permanent orange stain. Trump, more than even the most craven politicians or entertainers, is a bottomless reservoir of need and desire for attention. He lives off crowd approval. And at a certain point that will dim, as it always does to people like him, and the cameras will turn to some other American novelty. When that attention wanes, he will be left with his press clippings, his dyed hair, his fake tan, and those tiny, tiny fingers.
