Oh, my! That was a moving touching speech by Michelle Obama, masterful in the way she frames voting in this election. It’s about the common ground of our children and wanting the best for them, integrating Hillary’s story and her own into it.

I never have any problems listening to FLOTUS; I truly ❤ ❤ the way she organizes her speeches AND the way she delivers them! #ThanksFlotus 🙂 🙂

I think I’ve seen all the different sides of Michelle Obama and then I see another. This was different and the perfect speech for the occasion. She just thwarted the strategy of depressing the vote by making the campaign Trumpishly disgusting.

I love how she called Hillary, “my girl.” This is high praise and sisterhood in the African-American community. Michelle was really emotional at various times, as if she was on the verge of tears. I am also pleased that each of them was able to publicly give the lie to the screaming tabloid headlines that greet you at the checkout counter claiming that they hate each other.

Can you believe it’s actually snowing here!!!! It’s October for crying out loud – the nerve of the weather god! It’s been drizzling all morning, with occasional big, fat, fluffy white drops that disappeared quickly, but suddenly the white got smaller and has been consistently coming down till my roof has a delicate white coating. 😯 /muttering – This is so unfair./

  9. October 27, 2016 at 3:34 pm

I’m speechless. FLOTUS is the BEST of the BEST

John Edwards used to talk about the “two Americas” and this has been clearly illustrated by the tone and nature of the rallies held by the carnival barker and HRC. Love, kindness, unity, diversity, hope, and positivity with eyes on a glorious future for all is what we see in the later, and a dark, dystopic, seething mass of uncontrolled id that feeds on hate and misery. The simple question for this election is: what kind of country do you wish to live in?

Yet they are happy to stay with the rump when it is just Hillary campaigning. We all love and adore FLOTUS but the media’s open preference for Sec Clintons’s opponent is disgusting.

So the one good thing about DT is that he so outrageous and dangerous Michelle decided to be a major voice in this campaign! Could we have asked for anything more for their final months in the WH? Love listening to her. I’m wondering if they will decide to spend Christmas in the WH or at Camp David rather than their usual venture to Hawaii. Wouldn’t surprise me given they can hit the warm weather in January.

I bet they stick with their Xmas holiday in Hawaii plan. They gather with others in their families. I think that because Xmas is a gathering time for my family and I know everyone sets that time aside, but has difficulty finding time at other times to gather together. Kids in the family with school dictates gathering times.

FLOTUS has the most amazing ability to speak directly and powerfully from her heart. She is a brilliant woman and her words and presentation are perfect, but she projects a bone-deep sincerity that is free of any false notes and manages to convey to every individual that she is speaking to them personally. That is a God given gift of oratory that can’t be learned or practiced and it’s what makes her every contact with an audience so magical.

    • October 27, 2016 at 5:48 pm

Yes, yes, yes JG. You nailed it. I was on the phone with one of my political buddies right after her speech
and that is exactly what we were discussing…Flotus’ authenticity. It cuts through your soul and touches a
very deep place in your being.

  35. October 27, 2016 at 5:49 pm

I will enjoy watching Hilary as President but I sure am going to miss Michelle’s wardrobe and amazing fashion statements. She is beautiful inside and out! POTUS and FLOTUS are elegance personified.

Rubio looked OK at the debate with Patrick Murphy earlier this month, may be a bad angle, or perhaps he’s gained some weight?

    seems like the confrontation about the Dakota Access pipeline is escalating;

thought that PBO had placed a temporary restriction on the construction … I guess I don’t understand who has the final power to authorize progress of any activity.

      GE GCL.

The radio tells me that those who were moved (don’t know whether or not they were arrested) were not on federal land, which (the radio said) is under federal protection, and protesters under federal protection were not disturbed.

@CBSradionews also said the protesters who were moved were blocking traffic on a major highway that connects North and South Dakota. They also said law enforcement (don’t know which authority) were dressed in full riot gear.

Not claiming this is true — skeptical of MSM “reports” that parrot whatever law enforcement tells them — too many instances of police (etc.) outright lying and planting evidence, from #Ferguson up to the present, just letting you know what national radio is reporting (no TV, have no idea what cable and network TV are reporting).

    • October 27, 2016 at 7:25 pm

Yes, PBO suspended further construction on the pipeline. But this was about the occupation of private land. The local county authorities send in the police to disperse the campers and protestors. I’m not sure what more the President can do.

    • 117 arapaho415
      October 27, 2016 at 7:29 pm

Here’s a lengthy update from @nbcnews, which says “Thursday’s incident came less than a week after more than 80 people were arrested and authorities used pepper spray on demonstrators.”

      From the article:
“At least 16 protesters had been arrested at the protesters’ camp shortly after 3:30 p.m. local time (4:30 p.m. ET) as law enforcement slowly closed in and tensions escalated, North Dakota State Emergency Services Spokeswoman Cecily Fong told NBC News.

The protesters were ousted from the camp that authorities said was on private property in the path of the pipeline late Thursday afternoon, Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier told the AP.”

      snip /

“‘Protesters’ escalated unlawful behavior this weekend by setting up illegal roadblocks, trespassing onto private property and establishing an encampment, has forced law enforcement to respond at this time,’ he [sheriff Kirchmeier] said in the statement.

‘I can’t stress it enough, this is a public safety issue,’ the sheriff said. ‘We cannot have protesters blocking county roads, blocking state highways, or trespassing on private property.'”
