He needs to be cuffed and walked out of there. Now.

Who will do it? That’s the big question.

      • January 26, 2017 at 2:15 pm

I doubt anyone will do it until it affects their agenda.

I truly believe – deep in my soul, that we are stirring up this big cauldron and putting in all kinds of spices and ingredients and someone will rise or some group of someones will rise and help us to remove the crazies.

I see it swirling and I truly do believe.

No time to cloud my mind with cynicism.

        I’m FIRED UP!

I believe this article speaks for me:
“They thought they could run on fear of Trump, and it didn’t work.

Here’s the good news: all this makes Donald Trump incredibly vulnerable. This is the guy who came to power telling the boldest and brashest of lies, selling himself as a champion of the working man who would finally stand up to corporate power and influence in Washington. A portion of his base already has buyer’s remorse and that portion is just going to grow.

Something else we have going for us? This administration is going to come after everyone at once. There are reports are of a shock-and-awe budget that will cut $10-trillion over ten years, taking a chainsaw to everything from violence against women programs, to arts programs, to supports for renewable energy, to community policing. It’s clear that they think they this blitzkrieg strategy will overwhelm us. But they may be surprised—it could well unite us in common cause. And if the scale of the women’s marches is any indication, we are off to a good start.

Building sturdy coalitions in a time of siloed politics is hard work. There are painful histories that have to be confronted before progress is possible. And foundation funding and activist celebrity culture tends to pit people and movements against each other rather than encourage collaboration. Yet the difficulties cannot give way to despair. To quote a popular saying on the French left, “The hour calls for optimism; we’ll save pessimism for better times.” (“L’heure est à l’optimisme, laissons le pessimisme pour des temps meilleurs.”)”

Oh WOW, I love this article…
“Let us be clear: this is not a peaceful transition of power. It’s a corporate take-over. The interests that have long-since paid off both major parties to do their bidding have decided they are tired of playing the game. Apparently, all that wining and dining of politicians, all that cajoling and legalized bribery, insulted their sense of divine entitlement.

So now they are cutting out the middleman and doing what every top dog does when they want something done right—they are doing it themselves. Exxon for Secretary of State. Hardee’s for Secretary of Labor. General Dynamics for Secretary of Defense. And the Goldman guys for pretty much everything that’s left. After decades of privatizing the state in bits and pieces, they decided to just go for the government itself. Neoliberalism’s final frontier. That’s why Trump and his appointees are laughing at the feeble objections over conflicts of interest—the whole thing is a conflict of interest, that’s the whole point.

So what do we do about it? First, we always remember their weaknesses, even as they exercise raw power. The reason the mask has fallen off, and we now are witnessing undisguised corporate rule is not because these corporations felt all-powerful; it’s because they were panicked

Moreover, a majority of Americans did not vote for Trump.”

Donald Trump arrived in Philadephia, and the unpopular president was greeted with boos, shouts of “We hate you,” and “Go home.”

White House pool reporter, David Nakamura of The Washington Post described Trump’s arrival at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia:

Motorcade arrived at Loews Hotel in Philadelphia at 12:33 pm. Streets were lined with onlookers. A few protest signs and people holding thumbs down or giving the middle finger salute to the motorcade. Signs included “Marching forward not back.” and “Easier to get a gun than education”

Crowds with protesters deepened near the hotel. Police blocked the crowds so the motorcade could get through. Boos were heard as pool exited vans and shouts of “We hate you” and “Go home” were overheard, presumably directed at the motorcade.

Steve Bannon Tells NY Times The Media Should ‘Keep Its Mouth Shut’

Steve Bannon, the Breitbart News-chairman-turned-White-House-chief-strategist, said in a Wednesday interview that the media “is the opposition party” for President Trump and should “keep its mouth shut.”

“The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for awhile,” he said in an interview with the New York Times.

“I want you to quote this,” he said. “The media here is the opposition party. They don’t understand this country.”

As a child, Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez turned to comics to help him escape the poverty and crime that was right outside his door.
Now, the 45-year-old Puerto Rican activist and artist has created his own comic book, hoping to raise awareness about social justice issues, like pollution and discrimination, in Puerto Rico.

Entitled La Borinqueña, the comic features a Nuyorican superwoman who acquires her powers — like superhuman strength and the ability to control weather — while visiting some caves in Puerto Rico. Using story lines that infuse Puerto Rican history and culture, Miranda-Rodriguez wanted La Borinqueña to be a symbol of hope for the hard hit island.

One thing that the large, world-wide protests have done is to deny the Trumpsters their victory dance. They expected everyone else to be cowering in fear as they swaggered around emboldened to be as free with their hate as they have long wanted to be, but instead the America that they voted against rose up immediately and the fight was on. They won round 1, but as I mentioned a few days ago, it is a Pyrrhic victory. Before it is all over, some of them will be joining protests as they see their healthcare, jobs, homes, and overall quality of life trod under the jackboots of the corporate raiders who have taken over the government.

A day late (because he knows nothing about World time) Trump – well one of his minions – sends an “I love you” to Australia for Australia Day. Far as I know there is only 1 person in Australia who loves him back – a RWNJ racist dumb horror who speaks with the same level of incompetence as Trump.

Trump is running out of friends when he lauds a country of 23 million & the only thing they cam offer to the US is a military base. He seems to forget (actually he hasn’t a clue) we supported the TPP, we have single payer health care and a fairly robust (although under attack) public education system. We have a realistic minimum wage, support for single parent families and payments for the unemployed. We don’t expect charities to do the work of Governments. And I nearly forgot – major gun control laws.

Lots wrong with our government including our treatment of refugees – but thank god and anyone else responsible – we don’t have a nut case President.

Over the past 8 years up to the present watching the GOP and those who knowingly enable them in their greed and treachery, I have come to realize that evil is real; living and breathing in the hearts of too many whose actions adversely affect billions. We like to think that we are civilized, that the rule of law prevails, but it does not. Only the worst impulses of the heart hold sway. We may have a few years of seemingly bright spots when out better angels prevail, but always, crouching in the darkness, evil is waiting to pounce. As Michelle use to say, it takes years to build something that is lasting, but only a moment for devastating destruction. We are in the fight for the soul of our country, for good over evil; it is just that simple. This country is too vast and has too many resources to be turned over to people who can cause so much destruction. When this is all over, one of the first things that will need to be done is to put in safeguards that can protect the country. Things are happening that many, especially the privileged never dreamed could occur to them. Now that we are in the same boat, we will need to row together to reach a safe port.

CEB, this was a big part of an article I posted a few days back on PBO’s legacy. I disagreed with much of it, but one thing I did agree with was that PBO kept the ugliness in the US in check:

“Obama has said that he would have defeated Trump had he run against him. He is probably right, given his favorability ratings, and in spite of the contagion of hostility Trump has unleashed and legitimized. He would have won not because he was an effective president but because he made us proud. He reminded us, once again, of who we are supposed to be. For a long time, he kept the worst in us at bay. In a way, he shamed us. How important was that? Well, we now know how important that was. Obama has a quality that is in increasingly short supply. He has character.

      ….

We live in a worldwide torrent of cruelty. The election of Trump is one of its American manifestations. The repeal of Obamacare, leaving 20 million people without health insurance — and don’t fool yourselves; there will be no satisfactory replacement — is another. I have a strong feeling we will be seeing a lot more cruelty in the four years ahead, open and ugly. Cruelty has become a Republican mainstay on the pretext of… of what? They don’t even need a pretext any more. It is cruelty for its own sake.

This is what we need to remember, how we had a man of grace and decency in the Oval Office, and the example he provided is what his real legacy may be, just as JFK’s legacy was. Put simply: He is consequential because he is good and because he asked that we be good, too. History will judge his presidency. But we can already judge his character, and it is sterling. He showed us who we are supposed to be.”
