As usual, I was just typing away when the thread changed.
Have the evening news shows been reporting on the many protests over the past month, or are they spending most of the time talking about their hurt fee fees?

I have been surprised the local media here is finally noticing. Fort Worth is I believe the largest GOP city remaining in the country. So we get very little press and constant GOP crap. My rep has held ONE town hall in TEN years! But we protested Saturday night at a GOP dinner/fundraiser here and it was picked up by the tv stations and the local newspaper. There was a piece about the fact that FORT WORTH had two protests in one day! The earlier one was for policing and justice. I sometimes think the local media attention is better than the national. The thing that was interesting was that the protests Saturday got more media attention than the Women’s march. That march had around 5000 and we only had around 200 Saturday. But I think they thought we would go away after the Women’s march. Not gonna happen.

This reminds me of a commercial from a few years ago that showed two adult wheel chair BB teams battling it out on the court. At the end of the game, everyone got up on their feet except one guy. I love what each says about inclusion.

Since 1941 the US has never had a more loyal supporter than Australia. We were the first country frump insulted after the election – too small for him to have any interest/concerns. He counts his friends by how much money they have & how much they will give him. Loyalty and friendship mean zero ziltch nthing.

Meanwhile I have so many thanks for those wonderful years with BHO. May he and his family prosper and may his words ever bring forth the best in all of us.

Which begs the question, 99ts, I have an aussie friend in Hobart with an email @trump.net.au, which has always seemed odd, but I’m afraid I’ve deleted him as I cannot bear the server name any longer! HaHa – do you know what this server is? Ever heard of it?

Watching that interview again just made me miss PBO more. He was a champion for the earth, our one shared home, and it hurts and angers me to see the republicans and their leaders and henchmen in the white house try to roll back regulations and find a way to get out of the Paris Agreement that our PBO worked so hard to broker (no country can get out until 4 years have passed and are legally obligated to fulfill the tenants of the agreement so this gives us time). In the introduction, Sir David described PBO as “friendly, hospitable, and genuine” three things that we have seen him exhibit many times.

Good evening Nerdy & TOD! 🙂 🙂 Hope everyone had a pleasant day today, thinking of the last eight years of President Obama’s steadfast leadership.

I was really touched and almost moved to tears this morning as I kept scrolling through tweet after tweeting, extending this Day’s honor and greetings to our 44th President…I’m so thankful that we at least have this memory as well as the legacy of the good that he has done in his eight years as our President. We will be forever grateful!!

I did not write this, but it’s too funny not to share with you.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it looks like Trump is actually making America great again. Just look at the progress made since the election:
    1. Unprecedented levels of ongoing civic engagement.
    2. Millions of Americans now know who their state and federal representatives are without having to google.
    3. Millions of Americans are exercising more. They’re holding signs and marching every week.
    4. Alec Baldwin is great again. Everyone’s forgotten he’s kind of a jerk.
    5. The Postal Service is enjoying the influx cash due to stamps purchased by millions of people for letter and postcard campaigns.
    6. Likewise, the pharmaceutical industry is enjoying record growth in sales of anti-depressants.
    7. Millions of Americans now know how to call their elected officials and know exactly what to say to be effective.
    8. Footage of town hall meetings is now entertaining.
    9. Tens of millions of people are now correctly spelling words like emoluments, narcissist, fascist, misogynist, holocaust and cognitive dissonance.
    10. Everyone knows more about the rise of Hitler than they did last year.

    More at the link:)

So frump is out playing golf but his staff try and hide it
    http://edition.cnn.com/2017/02/20/politics/donald-trump-golfing-presidency/

Confronted by McIlroy’s comments about playing 18 holes with the President, Sanders said the President “intended to play a few holes and decided to play longer.”
“He also had a full day of meetings, calls and interviews for the new (national security adviser), which he is continuing today before returning to Washington, DC, tonight,” Sanders added.

I’m wondering how long it takes him to play 18 holes – hard to put in “a full day of meetings” with 18 holes in the mix.

    GE TODville.

I published a couple of Twitter “Moments” today for the first time, both of which may be of interest here.

The first are tweets compiled mostly from Meta’s Twitter timeline, of #PresidentsDay images.

Several tweets were posted here, and tweets are listed in the “Moment’s” description.

What’s nice about “Moments” is that photos are full-image displays (on a PC/laptop — not sure how they appear on other devices), not cropped as they appear when tweets contain multiple images.

The other “Moment” I compiled for BridgeRiverPass who asked about Russia attempting to recruit DJT to run for President in the 1980s (I responded to BRP on the previous thread). This “Moment” compiles tweets from @sarahkendzior, mostly from Dec 2016/Jan 2017.

I finally figured out and confirmed the possible connection that brought in Eric Holder (which may be in the story, but too tired to read that) … David Plouffe is Uber’s Vice President of Policy and Strategy.

      • February 21, 2017 at 7:11 am

He’s since moved on from Uber (can’t say I blame him; they seem to be in hot water a lot of the time) to become President, Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Policy and Advocacy. He’s doing great things, like working on the housing problem in the Bay Area:

As we know, C-Span released a “greatness” list of our 44 Presidents … from a survey conducted – under the direction of three academic advisors – of 91 presidential historians, the third of its kind since 2000. President Obama came in #12 in overall greatness.

Just received an e-mail from Catholic Democrats with a new chart, adding in the scores for “moral authority/pursued justice for all.” President Lincoln remained #1 (overall plus moral authority). President Obama (whom the list showed as #12 overall) became #2 following only Lincoln in moral authority.

    There ya go.

have any of you seen 45’s announcement of McMasters as his National Security Adviser on the 11th Hour? OMG! You have got to watch it. It’s very obvious 45 did not select him. It seems like Papa Pope is in the house aka Gen Mattis. 45 had to actually look at the one page handout to announce McMaster’s job title. When McMasters was making his statement, 45 looked annoyed bordering on anger. I really believe Gen Mattis selected him and 45 had no choice. 45 the buffoon needs to go.

Some discussion that because he is a serving Army Officer he could not refuse – I think neither of them want each other. I also read discussion that frump introduces ALL his appointees with the same speech. He literally has no idea who they are or what they have done. Without ANY doubt whatsoever this Australian knows more about the frump nominees/appointees than does frump. He also has something in the range of another 550 folks to appoint. Not one to work too hard.

Looking for the video now (I try to avoid seeing DJT, really puts me in a bad [worse? LOL] mood).

Heard a couple seconds of his announcement on the radio yesterday, and what caught my ear was his saying (paraphrasing, not exact quote) “I watched a lot about McMaster.” It seemed like an afterthought for DJT to add the lie “and read a lot about him.”

Estimates vary on the exact number of coal miners working in the United States, but by some measures, the number is below 70,000 – so the idea that 70,000 miners would have been put out of work by protecting streams is very hard to take seriously.

In reality, the evidence suggests killing the Stream Protection Rule will save about 124 jobs, not 70,000. Appalachian mine owners will save money by no longer having to worry about some compliance with some environmental safeguards, but to see this as some kind boon to the region, miners, or the struggling industry is a mistake.

As for the politics, Trump followers may wish developments like these received more attention, but I’m inclined to think the opposite is true. If more Americans realized that the new Republican president, working with the Republican Congress, prioritized more water pollution in exchange for a policy that will have a negligible economic impact, it’s easy to imagine Trump becoming even less popular than he is now.

I think that it’s our obligation to make sure that last paragraph, happens. Sooner rather than later!

New Republican health care blueprint falls far short
    02/21/17 10:00 AM
    By Steve Benen

    …………………………

That’s the good news. We’re a long way from having a real, detailed GOP plan to consider, but we can at least take a closer look at what Ryan & Co. have come up with thus far, which is better than literally nothing.

The bad news is, you’re really not going to like the Republican outline. A New York Times editorial yesterday summarized the key provisions nicely:

In a half-baked policy paper released on Thursday, the House speaker, Paul Ryan, trotted out washed-up ideas for “improving” the country’s health care system that would do anything but. For example, the paper calls for reducing spending on Medicaid, which now provides insurance to more than 74 million poor, disabled and older people. Many millions of them would be cast out of the program.

The Republican plan would also force most people who don’t get their health insurance through an employer to pay more by slashing subsidies that the A.C.A., or Obamacare, now provides. The proposal would allow families to sock away more money in health savings accounts, which may sound good at first but would primarily benefit affluent people who can afford to save more.
