The Republicans have unleashed the well deserved shit storm they had coming!! They can NOT hide! What I want to see happen, is this passion, this energy, this commitment to justice, follow through to the voting booth and vote all these SOB’s out of office! They do NOT represent America! So forgive me if I am still gun shy about the anger and the passion….it needs to translate into votes for Democrats in the House and Senate as well as local/ state elections…otherwise, this is all for naught. Blowing hot air. We Can Do This.

I’ve been saying for most of my life that republicans are no damn good.. and here they are proving it over and over. Every woman in Oklahoma needs to line up for abortions.. ok prolly not.. however they could leave OK in mass, see how those laws worked for the menfolk then.

DF, these Republicans are the most vile hypocrites! So abortion is perfectly O.K. if approved by us men, but it’s murder if it’s not permitted by men? Now we know that they’ve been lying all this time by claiming to be “pro-life.” By the way, there are many men who would be eager and willing to approve abortion to escape the responsilities of providing support for their childre

On April 4, 2017, almost 90 art house movie theatres across the country in 79 cities and in 34 states, plus one location in Canada, will be participating collectively in a NATIONAL EVENT DAY screening of the 80’s movie 1984 starring John Hurt, who sadly died last month. This date was chosen because it’s the day George Orwell’s protagonist Winston Smith begins rebelling against his oppressive government by keeping a forbidden diary. These theaters owners also strongly believe in supporting the National Endowment for the Arts and see any attempt to scuttle that program as an attack on free speech and creative expression through entertainment. This event provides a chance for communities around the country to show their unity and have their voices heard.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is winging his way to Mexico today carrying a load of troubles in his bag: His boss is in a long rhetorical war with our nearest neighbor; our next major trade deal appears to have blown up; and, from Mexico’s perspective, America’s new immigration policy appears to be dumping migrants back into Mexico without its consent. And perhaps the biggest challenge for a secretary of state: Nobody knows whether he really speaks for his boss.

…just three weeks after Tillerson took office, it’s clear that his tenure is already in trouble. As CEO of one of the world’s largest corporations, Tillerson was an unconventional choice for the job…he presided over operations in most of the world’s countries—a company so large it had, it was often noted, its own foreign policy. He offered the prospect of a strong, pragmatic counterweight to a president inexperienced in foreign policy with a highly politicized core of advisers.

But that’s not how it has turned out so far. President Donald Trump promptly put the kibosh on Tillerson’s choice of a deputy.

He failed to consult with Tillerson on his policy change on Palestinian statehood.

[He failed to consult with Tillerson on] putting Iran “on notice” for its most recent ballistic missile test.

The nation’s chief diplomat has been absent from the president’s key meetings with the leaders of Israel and Canada and largely invisible in Trump’s encounters with the prime ministers of Japan and the United Kingdom, as well as the White House’s diplomacy with Mexico so far.

    • February 23, 2017 at 9:15 am

In other words there is NO Secretary of State!!

      • February 23, 2017 at 9:17 am

There’s a SoS. I think that it’s Kushner, but because of the nepotism rules, he can’t *officially* hold that position. Tillerson may not realize it, but he’s probably just a placeholder.

      GM SWBG.

It’s clear from DJT’s words that the Secretary of State (and other Cabinet officials) will be figureheads only, trying to stay afloat in the swamp of “only I can fix it” DJT.

DJT believes in bilateral foreign policy, not multinational. No foreign policy pacts or treaties with more than one country at a time, regardless of the regional chaos this presents to the other nation.

Saw a tweet this week that said that Kushner and Bannon now lead US foreign policy, which means even more chaos and instability outside the US as well as here at home. 😦

Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) says he encountered authentic frustration from his constituents during his last town hall, despite the White House’s claim that some protests against GOP lawmakers were “manufactured.”

Much of the tension recently between lawmakers and their constituents stems from the “big debate” over repealing and replacing ObamaCare, Sanford said.

Trump’s effort to be the sole authority for truth hits a snag
    02/23/17 09:20 AM
    By Steve Benen

As the Washington Post noted, the people Trump is trying to convince don’t seem especially persuaded by the attacks.

A new poll from Quinnipiac University suggests that while people may be broadly unhappy with the mainstream media, they still think it’s more credible than Trump. The president regularly accuses the press of “fake news,” but people see more “fake news” coming out of his own mouth.

The poll asked who registered voters “trust more to tell you the truth about important issues.” A majority — 52 percent — picked the media. Just 37 percent picked Trump.

What’s more, according the poll results, 61% of the public also disapproves of the way the president talks about the media.

Ivanka pushes the White House to focus on human trafficking

President Trump this afternoon will hold a listening session on domestic and international human trafficking, including women and girls who are sexually exploited for profit. We’re told that the sudden West Wing attention to the issue was driven by Ivanka Trump, a huge West Wing force despite her decision not to take an official title at first.

How the meeting came about: Ivanka Trump and Dina Powell, White House senior counselor for economic initiatives, had a few meetings with some of the groups attending today’s 2:30 p.m. session in the Roosevelt Room. “Ivanka recommended the meeting to the president and he immediately agreed, given what a horrible issue it is in the U.S. and internationally,” a source said.

The South Carolina Secessionist Party planned to demonstrate against the event. …

      Tweet to article:

      From the article:

“United to Protect Democracy, which draws its name from a line in President Barack Obama’s farewell address that urged his supporters to pick up where he was leaving off, has already raised a $1.5 million operating budget, hired five staffers and has plans to double that in the coming months. They’ve incorporated as both a 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4), allowing them to operate as a nonprofit but participate in some forms of political advocacy as well.

While other Trump opponents focus on taking the president to court over the travel ban and deportations, the new group plans to drill into issues that aren’t already hitting the headlines, like potential intervention in and intimidation of regulatory agencies by West Wing staff.

‘When people hear concerns about democracies declining into authoritarianism, they expect that moment to come in a singular thunderclap where everyone can see that this is the time,’ said Ian Bassin, who’s leading the new group. ‘In reality, often times, democracies decline over a period of years that happen through a series of much smaller steps.’

They started by submitting 50 Freedom of Information Act requests this week that they believe will confirm their suspicions. The plan is to bring what they find to reporters, build it into pressure for congressional oversight with the help of a campaign director they’ll hire, and, as necessary, to file lawsuits.”

    This is where we are…..

This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress –

There’s so many reasons fueling #Resist by everyday Americans, while MSM acts like DJT is just another president, who will follow rules of law and not establish an autocratic plutocracy.

Establishing state police force and strangling free press is out in the open, yet MSM act like there’s nothing to see here (see earlier posts on this subject upthread).

Where are the rules of engagement? If this continues, many of the products and services (including basics, like food and housing) will be in short supply — it’ll be like Soviet Russia here!
