Good morning. ((((NW)))) You are THE BEST! Thank you for keeping our doors open. Much love to Chips and Danny.

    Good Wednesday, Nerday…TOD Family.

Nerdy, thanks for all that you do.

    She should have resigned.

Devos had a chance to show moral courage and she failed; no Sally Yates-style move from her or any other GOP member. She went along to get along. It is always tit-for-tat with them.

It’s like the GOP senators who vote against nominations – they know the result is a foregone conclusion – just a ruse to up their own votes. Same with this one – everyone knows she is unpopular so they make believe she is against something. All just PR and b.s.

Very Skeptical about the validity of this story: This is just to give Ms Davos cover. They all agree with this, but the falling out will be more on Ms Davos hence the story about her objections. She did not object, probably had a discussion on how they can minimize the problems to herself that would result from the fallout.

      • February 23, 2017 at 7:58 am

If she was sincere about having reservations and her reasons for it, she should have/would have resigned.

I agree with the skeptics that this was probably all a show to try to build up her *image* (ha ha).

By the same token, I believe that everything going on with the players within 45’s administration is strategic — the primary objective being to obstruct investigations against 45, to further his business interests and to aid in their collusion with Russia/Putin to destroy democracy in western countries.

Finally, the more I think about it, I believe that many of the GOP representatives are holding town halls just to be able to say they did. They will continue to ignore constituents and justify their actions by claiming the attendees/protesters were paid and the anger was manufactured. They don’t see themselves as working for the citizens in their communities but are instead working towards their self-interests.

What type of president do they have over there? I do need a Plan B.

Astronomers have found at least seven Earth-like planets orbiting the same star 40 light-years away, according to a study published Wednesday in the journal Nature. The findings were also announced at a news conference at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

This discovery outside of our solar system is rare because the planets have the winning combination of being similar in size to Earth and being all temperate, meaning they could have water on their surface and potentially support life.

The seven exoplanets were all found in tight formation around an ultracool dwarf star called TRAPPIST-1. Estimates of their mass also indicate that they are rocky planets, rather than being gaseous like Jupiter.

SoCal TODers, hope you all came through this latest storm in good shape. There is a ton of damage all over the North. My 90 year old mother lives not too far from this flooded area. She went without power for almost 3 days, so no heat, hot water or stove. She said she didn’t sleep last night, too worried about the flooding. Thank goodness we have the next 3 days of sun…….

Paul Ryan has turned off ALL of his public telephones & fax machines in response to protests in favor of Obamacare, Planned Parenthood, Medicare, etc. And he is NOT accepting signed petitions; instead he’s TURNING AWAY voters who deliver the petitions. So, let’s see what 67 million postcards looks like in his driveway.

Please start mailing postcards to his HOME:

Trump on DNC race: Ellison ‘predicted early that I would win!’
    By LOUIS NELSON
    02/22/17 08:14 AM EST

President Donald Trump offered his own take Wednesday morning on the race for the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee, offering some self-serving praise for Rep. Keith Ellison, “the one who predicted early that I would win!”

Ellison (D-Minn.) is considered a top contender to be the next DNC chairman, along with former Secretary of Labor Tom Perez. South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, is also a candidate for the job and on Wednesday morning was endorsed by former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean.

Interesting town hall that Senator Chuck Grassely had up in Iowa, I hope and pray that Obamacare isn’t repealed or replaced. But most of those people that attended Grassely’s town hall were his constituents that voted for him, and now they are going to pay for voting for him out of loyalty. These people day in and day out didn’t think about country, they put party above country. Some of the very people sitting in that room looking worried thought it was cute and funny when the Republicans tried to fuck PBO any way they could, some of them probably laughed when Trump made a joke about PBO being born somewhere else. The look on Grassley’s face and Mitch McConnell’s face is one of bewilderment and confusion. Grassley and McConnell only did what their constituents okayed them to do, and that was to obstruct PBO at every turn. So now Grassley and McConnell and others are like, I thought this is what you wanted me to do. I mean you voted for me every time I ran, I thought I was doing what you wanted me to do. And now those constituents are about to learn a very painful lesson.

“When spies in Washington leak to the media, they do so not out of any ideology, much less overt partisanship, but to protect bureaucratic turf and to settle personal scores. Mark Felt, the senior FBI official whose leaks to The Washington Post as the infamous Deep Throat made Watergate a national scandal, spilled the beans on the Nixon White House for entirely personal reasons. President Nixon repeatedly refused to appoint Felt—who was no liberal—the Bureau’s director, the top post that the bitter leaker felt he deserved. Exposing the Watergate scandal was Felt’s careerist vendetta.

Today, the Intelligence Community is deeply unhappy with President Trump. They dislike his repeated public insults and impugning of their professional integrity—something no president has ever done before. Many spies distrust the commander-in-chief, which is why some of our secret agencies are withholding highly classified intelligence from a White House they think is penetrated by Russian intelligence.

The Russia angle is most troubling to the IC. Behind closed doors, plenty of American intelligence experts believe that President Trump is the pawn of the Kremlin, wittingly or not, and assess that it’s only a matter of time before unseemly Moscow ties are exposed and the White House enters unsurvivable political crisis.

Rebellion is brewing in Washington. The resignation of the CIA’s spokesman, a career intelligence analyst, is a sign of how fragile IC morale has gotten under the new administration. If President Trump keeps upping the ante in his war on the spies, he can expect more damaging leaks to reach the media. Leaks happen in every administration, and Nixon’s ignominious fall ought to serve as a cautionary tale to any president who thinks he can find the right “plumbers” to fix the leaky faucet.”

Love Joe Biden, can’t get enough of him.

And being a surrogate to get someone else elected is *who* he is — just like PBO, he’s the polar opposite of the orange thing occupying space in the Oval Office now.

So, so wish Beau were alive today, and that Joe was #45. 😦

(Sorry HRC fans, voted for her of course, but if Joe had tossed his hat in the ring, would have been so happy.)

The Air Force can’t account for $1 billion in savings that President Donald Trump said he’s negotiated for the program to develop, purchase and operate two new Boeing Co. jets to serve as Air Force One.

“To my knowledge I have not been told that we have that information,” Colonel Pat Ryder, an Air Force spokesman, told reporters Wednesday when asked how Trump had managed to reduce the price for the new presidential plane. “I refer you to the White House,” Ryder said. A White House spokesman didn’t respond to repeated inquiries about Trump’s comments.

The high visibility of these town halls make it impossible for GOP representatives to say that they have the support of their constituencies.

[Of course, they are insisting that the attendees are being paid.]

It’s not just food (think most of the meat-packing plants in the Midwest are staffed by [undocumented?] immigrants — slaughterhouses are not an appealing line of work for just about anyone]), but well-heeled [GOP] women may be in for a surprise too.

Cotton *ignored* the phone calls to his office urging him to vote against DeVos and Pruitt. His justification was that the majority of the 3 million??? registered voters communicated to him that they agreed with him. Obviously the people attending the town hall didn’t believe him.
