The military always sits like that at these addresses, and I don’t believe they clap – just like the members of the Supreme Court.

Have to say I haven’t ever seen that collective look of disdain on all faces, caught in a single photo. Mind you, I never paid too much attention before President Obama. So I could be so wrong. 🙂

I didn’t mean to imply you didn’t catch the right look – I’m sure they detest and disrespect him, and the looks show it -just was mentioning it wasn’t all about him because they’re not supposed to be political. You weren’t wrong, I’m sure!

Oh and there’s tehbern, trying to pass himself off as alert and still alive, despite it’s way past his bedtime. I wonder if it’s possible for him to begin to understand just what he’s done, complicit in helping this SCROTUS steal an election.

Briefly turned on msnbc and Steve Schmidt was criticizing him, saying why diid the Dems choose this old ex two term governor instead of one of the younger Democrats in the party? I quickly turned. The other pundits were sitting there laughing, including Eugene Robinson, Rachel, Brian Williams and Chris Matthews.

      • 16 jacquelineoboomer
        February 28, 2017 at 10:48 pm

I turned to MSNBC once I knew for sure the speech was over … quickly to mute it when Chris Matthews was saying stupid stuff … then heard the first sentence out of Steve Schmidt’s stupid mouth … and am now back to The Weather Channel (we still might get a tornado here tonight – I pray nobody does!).

        March 1, 2017 at 12:31 am

Later the GOP female pundit that was in charge of Sarah Palin with Steve Schmidt was asking Corey Booker why they put out Steve Bashear (sp?) past KY governor to respond instead of himself. I think the pundits expect things to always be done the same way. That way they could change the topic to speculate who the Dems would run next. I think it was good that they picked someone that was an unlikely candidate so the message could be the focus.

Real, hardworking Dem organizers thought Beshear was the perfect choice: A governor who implemented ACA successfully, and it was destroyed by the incoming GOP governor. But many, the Berniebots are screaming about this, like Steve Schmidt.

Yes, and the more I think about his rebuttal, the more I like it. He wasn’t a “tier one” Dem (whatever that is – we don’t really have them in the true Democratic party, but RWNJs think we should), so Trump can’t call him out every day for a week. He was sitting in the local eating spot with Rs and Ds, none of whom yelled out “You lie” to Beshear. The screamers of the far left and anywhere on the right (who have sold out) can meet each other on the other side … while the rest of us go back to the Dem party we grew up with! Those that stood for the worker bees in the country, who made the middle class, who gave us the civil rights movement so that MORE (not less) could be in the middle class. I’m not looking for everybody in America to be an unhappy millionaire – I’m looking for everybody to have enough money for the basics and some extra for “old age.”

I watched, it was the worst thing I’ve listened to. I am scared for us. I was shaking when it was over. He may have delivered it in a saccharin voice but he is very very dangerous. And all that applause for his “plans” I don’t even know what to say anymore. I have hatred.

Sherijr, I take off my hat to you! You watched, I couldn’t even go there. If I did, I would have been tempted to cry out to all our ancestors to rise up and fight yet another war with us. They set the foundation. We need to do this alone, for them, for us, for those who come thereafter. Don’t allow Orange Toupee Fiasco to breed hatred in your heart. Never! Go for indifference to him as a so-called. Best way is to eagle-watch his (& his cohorts) ass & sleight of hand, and expose his grifter poverty.

Just joining in this thread. I am proud of you for watching. It takes fortitude beyond imagining to watch the deceit and the lack of discernment about the deceit. I am also hyper alert at all times now because my sensitivities tell me this is no drill. I was on a plane coming home from a grandbaby visit and the thought occurred to me many times over the long trip that I needed to be ready at all times to protect anyone that would come into harms way by harassment or intimidation. After so many times that that notion interrupted my thoughts unbidden I decided to just prepare myself to act quickly. Something will happen I feel that I will be called upon to intervene and I cannot hesitate.

Otherwise I am finding opportunities to interject on a regular basis in less dramatic ways but still I perceive them to be important. I feel like a walking talking respect, empower, include vessel now. A lot of what I end up doing is dispelling misinformation. It seems to be everywhere. Another repeating pattern is being asked in some way to normalize voting for Trump and standing in my truth with no drama. I did discover a great tool for perseverance though. I watched President Obama’s visit with the Chicago Cubs yesterday on the Obama White House You Tube channel. My spirit lifted and the contrast of course was blinding. The love and good will in that room when everyone was celebrating the Cubs made my heart sing. I am going to go back and watch things like that on a regular basis to ground myself.

Oh you said so much good stuff Catrst 🙂 I go from feeling powerful and capable to angry and hopeless. Today I’m feeling much more in the power/capable category. I’m going to print out some of the “what to do if ICE comes to your door” papers and go out in the dark this week and post them on lamp posts. I feel things are very dangerous – as you say ‘not a drill’. I foresee very bad things. As in when he talked about 94 million unemployed- that wasn’t a mistake or lie imo.. that is how he sees us: the disabled, seniors, youth, stay at home parents.. he intends to undo safety nets (imo) and force work from all. I believe to that his intention w/ Hispanics & Muslims is about voting- getting rid of the brown voters, along of course with the bigoted reasons he cites. The whole “urban crime” crap is about locking up the rest of the brown folks along w/as many black folks as he can. With the voting rights restrictions, gerrymandered districts… if we are even able to vote again, dems will never win again. So I have a very dubious view of whats coming.. 😦 but I haven’t lost hope that we will stop him and every last one of the creeps working for him and the smug Ryan/McConnel show.

J’OB, now we know that when Trump shouts “fake news,” he is just PROJECTING. Trump is an expert at peddling “fake facts” and blatant falsehoods. According to Trump, all retired people, including 5 former presidents and their spouses, are unemployed! Since these retirees are not out looking for jobs, they are, according to Trump, “out of the labor force.” But guess what, millions of his ignorant supporters will enthusiastically hail him for telling the truth even though he is actually conning them! I confess that I underestimated Donald Trump. He is, without a doubt, one of the best of con men of all times!

I have to share something with you guys that I didn’t quite process until a couple of hours ago. Me and my husband are low income seniors living on a fixed income which means we’re eligible for the local food bank. Well we went to our local food bank which we do every month. When I arrived I noticed there were very few cars. When I climbed the steps to the church where the actual food bank is located, I noticed there was a small group of people and everyone was white – children, men, women, and old folks like me and hubby. I was the only African American. My hubby is English/German American. I felt this strangeness while I waiting to go into the bank but couldn’t quite put my finger on it. Several hours later, I realized there were NO Latino families – no children or moms or dads or old people. There were no other black people – usually there’s 3 or 4 black seniors. But what really shocked me was the lack of Latino families. Then I realized they were probably afraid to participate in the food bank because some may have been mixed status families or undocumented. I’m heartbroken. What’s gonna happen to those families and their children? I just can’t stop thinking about it. BTW, I’m in northern Cal about an hour from SF.

Heartbreaking! Please consider raising this issue with the people who manage the food bank. Suggest if they can find a creative but more discreet way/method to get food outreach to the Latino community & other minority groups that are living in fear. Thank you for sharing this experience

        March 1, 2017 at 1:18 am

Thank you for your reply. I plan to do just that. I have been going to this food bank for two years and have watched the children grow up. To me, they’re future astronauts and scientists, engineers, business owners, artists, plumbers, doctors, nurses, senators, presidents. So yes, I will be reaching out to the director of the program. She respects my opinions. I will do a follow-up post.

        • March 1, 2017 at 7:46 am

Idon, thank you so much for noticing the absence of these families and thank you for caring. It’s true that undocumented Latinos and their families are going back into the shadows as we watch Trump and his goons go mercilessly into homes, schools, churches, hospitals and health centers to hunt them down like animals. It’s crushing. And thank you for raising the question to the director. I look forward to hearing if there’s anything that can be done.

Good evening TOD! Catching up on the last two days of posts, and they were glorious! Thank you NW for all you do here. It was great to see the clip of FlOTUS out and about.

I stayed away the last two days because I just cannot handle much more of dt. The man is a pig and his policies are despicable. He revels in hatred and cruelty.

Finally after the speech was over tonight I turned on the TV to watch the recording of POTUS speeches from last night. I must agree with Cody Keenan, his Selma speech remains my favorite because of the vision it paints for the America I know and love. But Charleston is a close second:-)

And I am absolutely thrilled with the book deal he and FLOTUS inked. The incredible size of it means he and FLOTUS can work on the things they love which do not pay dollars:-) Even if they give away a substantial portion of it, there will be plenty left for them to live the rest of their lives without worrying about income. Their hearts are simply not on the income circuit.

Hope that Eric Holder is correct, we will soon see POTUS back in action. I so miss them!

I agree Pamela, and even include insects, reptiles and the like in that list, as they all are intelligent, have their necessary place in the workings of our planet, work with each other as needed for all to survive, and only harm another species if they feel threatened. Even cockroaches, rats and slime mold, that by the way has far more intelligence than 45. It can actually find its way through a maze. I doubt 45 could that without having a meltdown. This guy is all about himself and how much he can get from everyone else just for himself and without him having to put out in any way. Lower than the lowest of the low.

I don’t think they stood up for 45. I think they stood up for the widow of the Navy Seal who was killed in the fiasco. I didn’t watch it so that is based on the comments I saw on Twitter and the snippets on the news shows this morning.

Morning everyone:) I watched NONE of it….I just don’t care one bit about anything he says….ever. I will just keep my eyes focused on the jobs at hand and his poisonous hatred will not deter me from my mission on this Earth. To educate others about many things….at school, in the library, at the grocery…this is what I do and will continue to do. That negative energy will not enter my space. I know you all will consider doing the same…in our numbers, we are a force. Meantime, I saw the piece from Eric Holder about PBO being “just about ready” to get out here in the arena with the rest of us….THIS is what I’M waiting for!!! He was just restin’ up:) Holder and PBO taking truth now…I’m ALL about that! Let’s Go!! Fired UP!! Who’s with me?

  17. March 1, 2017 at 7:54 am

I see the media focus this morning is that 45’s speech showed a change of tone…HA!!!!

    Don’t forget:

    * 45 supposedly changed his tone during the primaries/general election to be more presidential.

    * 45’s campaign at most colluded with Russia; at a minimum communicated with Russia throughout a campaign where it has been determined that Russia had a hand in influencing the results of the election.

    * 45 and members of his staff continue to have interaction with Russia.

    * There are a number of conflicts of interests involving 45’s businesses in which, it has recently been determined, he is still heavily involved; he did not give up his role as he had pretended to have done (remember the press conference with the stacks and stacks of papers that he said was where he was signing away his leadership role in his companies, but was later determined to be blank sheets of paper?).

    * Questions of violating the Emoluments Clause (trademark deal in China is an example).

    * The money he is costing tax payers that are going directly into his coffers with his numerous trips to Mar-a-Lago, the security required at his NY residence, security accompanying his sons to Dubai and other places to conduct business…

    * 45’s inability to tell the truth or to take responsibility or take criticism without retaliating.

    * His “kinder, gentler” tone means nothing as he continues to pursue Muslim bans (under the guise of a travel ban), continues to keep mum and inactive regarding the attacks on JCC’s and cemeteries, cannot admit to domestic terrorism and condemn attacks by white nationalists/alt-right against POC, his new VOICE (Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement) program, his continued talks about repealing Obamacare, false promises to bring back manufacturing jobs in industries that have become automated, talking about clean environment as he removes regulations to protect the environment…

I hope the media doesn’t fall for the okie doke as they have in the past, and I especially hope that Democrats continue to be vigilant and continue to resist.

At just 18, she founded the Believe Foundation, which provided support to terminally ill children.

And since then, she hasn’t much slowed down.

Her Clara Lionel Foundation — named for her grandparents — tackles a range of causes, from education to health and emergency response programs. And her work with the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project helped convince Canada to pledge $20 million to the Education Cannot Wait fund.

Following a collection of introductory student remarks Tuesday afternoon — some of which featured the requisite plays on the artist’s lyrics — the award recipient finally took center stage.

In thanking the university, she spoke about family, and her grandmother’s losing battle with cancer. She spoke of her upbringing in Barbados, and her childhood dreams of saving the world, one 25-cent donation at a time.

Mostly, she urged students to do their part, to make a commitment to help just one person.

“People make it seem way too hard, man,” she said. “You don’t have to be rich to be a humanitarian. You don’t have to be rich to help someone, you don’t have to be famous, you don’t even have to be college educated.

“My grandma always used to say if you’ve got a dollar, there’s plenty to share.”

Hope you and your family are doing well — heard about the awful, terrifying tornados in the Midwest stretching to the South yesterday, and more forecast for today. 😦

I woke up this morning enraged by MSM response I heard last night. MSM and focus groups are praising him for not behaving as if he were a learning-disabled adolescent.

Doesn’t help that I continually see WHPC tweets about “Pres Trump,” when “Pres” was rarely (if ever) tweeted by these same people before Jan 20, 2017 (when tweeting about our #ForeverPresident.) — same number of characters in both last names, and yet…

      @ddale8’s response to this tweet:

The storms were terrible. We’re okay in Chicago, but this was a dangerous track of damage. I think there were 7 tornadoes sighted. We have friends living in the path, but they were spared. Thanks for asking.

I am beyond outrage at msm response. GOP gets away with everything. The idiotic Van Jones had time to praise Trump last night; when every time PBO made a speech, he did nothing but criticize.

GOP would be screaming outrage, and grab the narrative. Dems are out with their usual measured responses. I want to scream.

57, I’m right there with you. Although I didn’t watch a moment of the speech, I did watch reaction to it online last night and when I woke up this morning I felt like I did the day after the election. I still have that feeling of panic like I did in November. And now to see that the stock market loves his words too has made me want to wretch.
I’m smart enough to know that he’ll do something idiotic by tomorrow, but giving him even an inch of ammunition to brag about is just sickening.

I’m still reeling from his arrogant statement about the generals being responsible for losing the Seal team member yesterday. That comment had a new intensified meaning to me as my son is about to commission into the Air Force. And then to use the spectacle of his new widow grieving publicly last night….it’s just too much. She will look back on that moment one day, when the fog of grief has cleared, and realized that she was played. That’s just horrific.

I really don’t know how much more of this that I can take. But since my Forever President’s first day in office, I’ve looked forward to reading his memoirs one day. Now I know that day is coming soon.

Thank you for keeping the lights on here NW. You are a treasure. Don’t know what we’d all do without this place.

I am actually proud of Keith. He is using his voice for good. As long as he doesn’t punk out like others seem inclined to do- then I’m grateful to him.

TNmtnGirl is in the Knoxville area, on the other side of the state from Nashville, but still, terrifying…

Thanks friend. I am actually at our daughter’s in VA. I checked weather in Knoxville about 15 minutes ago. It is headed that way. Was on the Cumberland Plateau at the time I checked. Some schools closed last night based on the forecast for severe storms today.

Pundits like Chris Cizilla are falling all over themselves with hollow praise. There is no pivot. #45 is still a vindictive manchild.

Czilla is nothing but a little repub follower anyway. Read him occasionally during repub primaries – can’t remember which one he was for, wasn’t Trump as I recall. Goes to show they were never against Trump’s ideas/doings.. just as to how he was “presenting” them.

I am absolutely disgusted by the gullible MSM who have been bamboozled *again* by the corrupt, ignorant con artist DJT.
When will they ever learn that standing upright and reading from a teleprompter without talking about ‘Crowd Size’ or some
such nonsense does not a good speech make. Can the bar be made any lower? I weep for my country. This malignant ignorance
that is permeating our society is very troubling. Neither congress nor the media seems to be willing to help us avoid this destructive
administration, so I can clearly see that it is up to us the citizens to keep resisting and fighting this demon with every ounce of
strength we can muster. When will the DEM leadership stand up and scream at the top of their lungs that this Russian thug should
not be in the WH and then do everything to get him kicked out? We the people in the streets are certainly doing our part. Will
DEM leadership now follow suit and GROW A SPINE!! I. AM. BEYOND. OUTRAGED.

Had to rant to unclog my soul.

I can hardly stomach seeing and listening to this so-called-whatever that I can only read after the fact stories. I knew he was going to lie and showboat and that’s exactly what he did. It was a badge of honor to not watch this fraud and spent time organizing to bring him down with my friend GGail.

If he was a democrat you can be sure something will be done by republicans, but since he is republican, I will believe something will be done when I see it. Until then, I will safely assume he will walk through this quite nicely, so there will be no disappointments only surprise if a genuine investigation is actually carried out.

      • March 1, 2017 at 2:35 pm

        Place holder?

Yeah, in a sense he was and still is. 45 is just the figurehead. Bannon, Miller, Kusher, and whoever else Putin has inserted is, in essence, running the show. 45 is just happy to get his treats (profits for his businesses).

Why tone is all it takes for some to consider him presidential at the exclusion of substance is beyond me.

“Rubio evicted from Tampa office because of protesters”

    http://wsvn.com/news/politics/rubio-evicted-from-tampa-office-because-of-protesters/

    —–

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio is looking for a new office location in Tampa after the owner of his previous space decided not to renew his lease because of constant disruptions from protesters.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that the owner of the nine-story Bridgeport Center notified Rubio’s staff Feb. 1 that it would not renew its lease. They have to be out by Friday.

Jude Williams, president of America’s Capital Partners, says rallies outside the building have become too disruptive to the other tenants and a costly expense for the company.

Note Cory met PBO in 2009 or 2010 before the Normandy 70th anniversary. Pres Obama kept meeting him again & again. In Afghanistan. At Walter Reed. At the WH & in Phoenix when Cory got his house built. It was Never to cover up a botched military raid.

PBO never tried to scam anyone with so-called religious innuendo about how “Jesus was for him because He helped Cory survive in order to meet him”.

The American media has devoted a lot of attention to White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon in recent weeks, particularly after he labeled them the “opposition party” and the “enemy.” In an odd twist of fate, Bannon recently appeared on the front page of newspaper connected to a literal enemy of America: Al Qaeda.

The front page article from Al Qaeda-affiliated publication Al Masra features a photo of Bannon and references negative comments he’s made against Islam. The appearance of Bannon in jihadist media shows how policies forged by his nationalist policies support the notion that the West and Islam are incompatible— a narrative pushed not only by the White House, but by groups like Al-Qaeda and ISIS.

45…a guy in death struggle with the truth

  52. March 1, 2017 at 2:29 pm

But…but…but…what about the safety and security of this country? Isn’t that what his travel ban was all about? Why would a “positive” reaction to his speech all of a sudden make us safe?

BTW…when pundits (and media?) start digging into the speech and move beyond the “tone”, let’s see how “positive” the comments remain.

        Good Afternoon, arapaho415

Nor is doing any good for the families that have already been caught up in his rush to “keep his campaign promises”. Is “kinder, gentler” 45 doing anything to get families back together that have been torn apart? Is he doing anything to calm the young people who are afraid to even go to school because they fear their parents won’t be there when they go home? Is he doing anything to pull back the over-the-top agents who are aggressively going after immigrants, sometimes with no care as to whether they are legal?

Some of the media seems to have forgiven him for these past 40 days. The “tone” of his speech is intended for them to let their guard down and stop pursuing the real stories.
