Most Republicans in Congress could not care less about Veterans. It’s just a talking point for them. Not too many of their kids are volunteering, so – once again – it’s somebody else’s problem but sounds good to their constituents when they mouth the words.

Is DJT just tying his tie so it is that long with the underside super short or is it made to be tucked in his pants? Is it the Trump brand or another brand? Anyone know as it looks ridiculous although I do remember the super skinny ties?

Meanwhile in Colombia, back in January:

Afro-Colombian human rights activist Emilsen Manyoma is the latest victim in a wave of attacks against human rights defenders in recent months.

On Tuesday police in the Pacific coast city of Buenaventura announced they had discovered the body of Afro-Colombian human rights activist Emilsen Manyoma, 32, and her partner Joe Javier Rodallega, who had been missing since Saturday.

We need this to pass before 45 bankrupts us. Perhaps if there’s no financial benefit to him being POTUS, he’ll go ahead and quit.

There’s an art to coming up with legislation acronyms. The best known may be the USA PATRIOT (Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism) Act.

The latest to be added to the list: the No Taxpayer Revenue Used to Monetize the Presidency Act, otherwise known as the No TRUMP Act.

The bill, introduced Thursday by Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., would prohibit the use of taxpayer dollars to pay for events, overnight stays, food or other expenses at hotels owned or operated by a president or his relatives.

Blumenauer said he’s long been concerned about Trump’s refusal to divest his ownership stake in the Trump Organization. The issues have become more evident with reports of taxpayers footing bills for Secret Service and embassy officials to travel with Trump’s children on a business trip and as government officials spend time at Trump facilities.

“It’s a very real problem that he’s further enriching his enterprises,” Blumenauer said.

You have got to be kidding!!!!!

Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL) got into a battle with Rep. Mike Doyle (D-PA) Thursday during a House Committee on Energy and Commerce hearing for the healthcare bill.

While discussing the GOP’s new bill, Doyal asked what Shimkus could possibly have a problem with that is mandated in Obamacare.

Shimkus replied that men shouldn’t have to pay for prenatal care.

“I’m just — I — is that not correct?” Shimkus stuttered. “Should they?”

Doyal seemed so dumbfounded he couldn’t find his words either.

You’re really on roll this morning, finding all sorts of #WhatTheActualHell reports.

Honestly, what’s happening on. a. daily. basis. is absolutely unbelievable.

We’re ramping up military deployment around the world, reducing the State Department to a (literally) non-functioning, non-communicative department, leaving Americans in the dark as to what is happening with US relations around the world — while Jared Kushner, a non-elected, non-accountable “family” member is controlling THIS COUNTRY’s foreign policy.

Meanwhile, on the home front, the “party of life” could care less what happens to those who bring life into this world and those who enter the world as infants.

The veil is being pulled back and more and more people are seeing that the republicans do not know how to govern; it was all smoke and mirrors, lies and chicanery; their only role has been to serve their paymasters. The only reason that things were done at all for the past 50 years is because of Democrats in congress and democrats in the White House. PBO said on election night: “To all of you who did not vote for me, I will be your president too.” and he held to this as republicans did everything they could to make life difficult for their constituents as well as the rest of us, for political gain to please the 0.1 percent to whom they owed fealty. This was clearly evident in the over 50 failed votes to destroy the ACA. Now it is their turn and they have nothing.
More and more people are realizing also, that it is a large majority of white people, especially in the red states, who are the takers when it comes to using social services, and they will suffer the most if all of these changes in healthcare, especially come through. But those who do vote, will continue to vote republican and will continue to rally for 45 because he is what they admire, the type of person they think should be in the White House; a white, wealthy male who can grab all the p**sy he wants and do as he pleases. It is the same old story, those with wealth, position, power and influence who believe only in themselves, use poor whites, racists, and the evangelicals as weapons in the so-called culture wars, to distract from the fact that they are filling their coffers at everyone’s expense. The Southern strategy is now nationwide.

  19. March 10, 2017 at 8:19 am

Gee, I wonder who benefits from this act?!?!?!?!?

The House passed legislation Thursday to put new restrictions on class action lawsuits.

The Fairness in Class Action Litigation Act was approved 220-201. It requires proof that each proposed member of a class action suit has the same extent of injuries before a federal court can certify it.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) argued the overriding purpose of the bill is to make it virtually impossible for class action lawsuits to be brought by groups of people who have been injured by a consumer rip-off, pharmaceutical drug mistake, faulty product design, sex discrimination or sexual harassment in the workplace, or lead and asbestos poising.

But Raskin… accus[ed] Republicans of trying to shield corporate wrongdoers by making it more difficult for victims to band together.

“I oppose this misguided legislations because it sends another huge valentine and wet kiss to large corporate polluters and tortfesors, but gives the finger to millions of American citizens who suffer injuries from these defendants,” he said.

These big money paymasters must have something on these republicans that is more damaging than campaign funds for them to act only in their interests. We need to find out why they are so determined to beat down prosperity and advancement for everyone else.

      • March 10, 2017 at 8:51 am

I say the same thing, CEB. Not just that they seem to act only in their interests, but that they selfishly act to prevent others from bettering their lives. They act as if it’s mutually exclusive.

The GOP have been trying to get rid of all lawsuits for a long time. I think it was for their rich corporate donors. Could it now be for Trump and themselves with the possibility that that is the only way truth in a trial could be avoided?

“The revised executive order does narrow the scope of who’s impacted,” Ferguson told a news conference Thursday. “That does not change the underlying constitutional problems: If you’re acting in an unconstitutional way — this is effectively a Muslim ban — the fact that it’s a smaller group of individuals who are harmed does not change the analysis.”

In addition, the states and civil liberties groups have alleged another flaw: U.S. immigration law generally prohibits the government from discriminating based on nationality when issuing immigrant visas. The president cannot rewrite that law by executive order, the states argue.

    Ford.
Ford decided to expand in Michigan rather than in Mexico. But the decision has more to do with the company’s long-term goal — particularly its plans to invest in electric vehicles — than with the administration.

    Fiat Chrysler.
The company announced its plan to invest $1 billion in Michigan and Ohio plants and create 2,000 jobs. Sergio Marchionne, the Fiat Chrysler chief executive, said his company’s plan to invest $1 billion for a factory in Michigan had been in the works for more than a year and had nothing to do with Trump.

    General Motors.
The company plans to add or keep 7,000 jobs in the United States and invest $1 billion. Trump touted the decisions on Twitter, but a company spokeswoman said the decisions “had been in the works for some time” but that “the timing was good for us to share what we are doing.”

    Walmart.
Walmart said it would create 10,000 jobs in the United States in 2017 — a part of a $6.8 billion capital spending plan announced in October, before the presidential election

    Intel.
Intel announced it would create at least 10,000 jobs at a “new” plant in Arizona. But Intel actually announced a $5 billion investment in this factory in 2011 with then-President Barack Obama.

    Lockheed Martin.
Trump says he lowered the cost of the company’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter planes. But the Pentagon had announced cost reductions of roughly $600 million before Trump began meeting with Lockheed Martin’s chief executive.

    SoftBank.
The Japanese company announced its $100 billion technology investment fund three weeks before the U.S. elections, when Trump faced a narrow path to victory.

    Sprint.
Sprint announced it would add 5,000 jobs in the United States, and Trump took credit. Sprint later said its hiring plan was a part of a commitment by SoftBank, which owns a controlling stake in Sprint.

    Alibaba.
Chinese e-company Alibaba pledged to create 1 million U.S. jobs. Trump said that until he got elected, Alibaba founder Jack Ma had “no intention” of investing in the United States. But Ma has been pitching his company as a U.S. job creator since as early as 2015

I was going to post a vile and repulsive rant about the ACA possibly being repealed, but it would have served no constructive purpose. The only thing it would have done was alleviate the anger I felt against those voters that chose to vote against their own best interest. It seems as though on a daily basis more and more stories are coming out about people that lest could afford to lose their health care in fact voted for a guy that promised to take away their health care. We are all in the same boat now.

On some level it is fascinating watching the Republican’s fuck over its white working class base. Friedrich Nietzsche said “That which does not kill us makes us stronger.” I’m starting to think that the fucking that the Republicans are doing to its base isn’t going to make them stronger, I could be wrong though.

As if on cue Che Sanders wants to court the working class Trump voter. Che believes that the Democrats aren’t reaching out strongly enough to those working class voters that voted for Trump. The spotlight is all on Trump and is disaster of a Presidency, but Che wants to focus our attention on the fact that a bunch a voters that have no intention of voting Democrat will somehow vote Democrat if we’re nice to them and start speaking their language.

“It’s not that Republicans have been lazy or haven’t focused. Coming up with a plan means squaring an impossible circle to bring together those who want a more palatable/’market based’ approach to ensure coverage for roughly the same amount of people and those who want to cut the taxes Obamacare was based on and let everyone fend for themselves. In a sense it’s a battle within the minds of people who pushed a strong political argument with no ability to follow through if they regained power. To the extent it is a factional contest, there are varying differences of principle, different kinds of districts and states where elected officials can or cannot give free reign to their ideology purity. But that’s the gist of the problem.”
“We’re at roughly a month and a half into the administration. The GOP has unified control of the government and yet no significant legislation has moved at all. That is a stunning reality which the storm and chaos of Trump’s short presidency has largely obscured.”
