I wanted to bring this conversation over here…I think its important and would love to get others thoughts…mine are here.

All of this and SO much more! THIS is the crux of the matter…which brings me to something that’s been eating at me. Remember when Turtle said that he would wait for the next President to choose the justice? Why did he say that? What would drive a man to say that when, at the time, Clinton was projected to pulverize that moron at the polls? He was very confident in his statement. I say that he KNEW the Russian plan and stayed quiet, but that slipped out. You don’t use that stupid as your argument unless you know, with certainty, that your guy is going to be the one to be given that SC pick. Too much at stake. I haven’t been comfortable with this since it all started…something is WAAAAAY wrong…and it goes back farther and reaches Republicans that SHOULD get caught in this net!

I thought that turtle saying what he said at the time was because he was being his usual dickish self. He was in fact unusually strident about the next President being the one to pick the supreme court pick, and with Hillary being the odds on favorite to win the Presidency. Now in hindsight turtle’s insistence seems all the more suspect.

I remember thinking the same thing, df. Thought it was weird for him to say that. Didn’t know what we now know, which makes it make perfect sense. Email Dem Senators on the intelligence committee about it so they look into it.

wow I agree with these comments. I too found it strange that McConnell would be “willing” so very willing to wait for the next President on SCOTUS, when we all pretty much believed strongly that Hillary would win. My anger at the time was about him disrespecting President Obama.. were we “hookwinked”. I think so.

Is there a list of the Dem senators on the “IC” ?

    • March 19, 2017 at 4:24 pm

Because this coup has been planned for a LONG TIME.

Putin hacked more than just the DNC and a few down ballot dems. Rove got caught trying to steal it in 2012 by Anonymous, so they just hired better hackers… in RUSSIA. No way they gave up trying to steal everything they can get their hands on, including elections.

We need a forensic code audit of all the voting machines and tabulation servers w/data trails. Starting with the swing states. Then we need to put them in a pyre, torch them, and go back to PAPER ONLY/HAND COUNTED.

Holland just voted on PAPER, because they didn’t want what happened to us, to happen to them. And Their White Supremacist they thought might win, actually lost BIG. Crisis averted.

Anyone with any working knowledge of IT and code, knows how easy it is to hack voting machines. It’s been proven by several universities – just google: hacked voting machine remotely, and you’ll find a treasure trove of articles on it.

McConnell is as corrupt as they come, as are most of the Congressional GOP. It’s why they’re acting as if they don’t care they’ll get thrown out of office…even if they literally make people starve to death or die from lack of healthcare, as long as they get richer, because I don’t believe they’re going to allow any more fair elections. Why should they? They’re too easy to hack, and as long as we never check the machines – which should never be used in the first place, well done Netherlands – why should they stop, if no one’s going to go after their criminality?

Our #1 Law Enforcement Officer is a perjury FELON. We all witnessed it. It’s on video. And he’s still in office. If any DEM had done this, his trial would already be over, and he’d be locked up.

I’m so beyond sick of having two sets of rules – one for Republicans, where it’s legal to do anything you want, and another set for everyone not them.

I’m hoping Comey has gone deep with this Russia investigation, and wants to save his own legacy. Because from what I can see (granted, I’ve been obsessing about it for a long time… ) this rabbit hole is deep. If they actually want to enforce the laws the entire Trump admin and half the Congressional GOP are breaking, the sting is going to be something akin to Designated Survivor.

Otherwise, if they don’t come down hard on these monsters, the law breaking will continue and we’re all going to be very very very fucked for a very very very long time.

Good morning TOD. A long time since I’ve been here, as I took an almost two week trip/tour of Spain and Portugal. Saw some wonderful sites, had some wonderful experiences, learned quite a bit. The Spanish are particularly proud of the pre-inquisition era when Jews, Christians and Muslims lived and worked together compatibly, supporting each other. The inquisition and the Franco era are embarrassments to them. AND, they despise Donald Trump. He scares them. In fact, one person saw a sign in Madrid: Trump murderous bastard. Pretty well summed up the travelers’ feelings.

Good to be back and to sleep in my own bed last night, and be with my little dog Chanel this morning. Not moving fast…..a long day yesterday a nine hour flight from Madrid, a six hour layover in Dallas, and home at 10:00. Will be fuzzy for a few days….

So Glad PBO is in French Polynesia for some privacy and rest. About as far from D.C. as he can get, and his privacy will be respected.
Oh yes, watched Southside with You on the plane on the way home. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Cried a bit during his talk at the community meeting…so miss hearing him speak.

Portugal is a charming, magical place.

I remember being on the gun range at work a couple of days after Trump weaseled his way into the White House. I was talking to a couple of coworkers that are veterans. They swore up and down that Hillary didn’t like the military and that she caused Benghazi and that Trump would show the military the proper respect. I had two brothers and a father that served in the military, as a matter of fact I was the only son not to serve in the military and I have the upmost respect for the military. But Trump has without a doubt disrespected the military as much as a President could disrespect the military.

I’m not surprised by this, the rich and powerful have often had the not rich and not powerful do their dirty work. In this waiter’s eyes these Latina women are his enemy, and the manager at the restaurant that he works at that probably has a no tipping rule and this manager also probably has this guy working just enough hours to avoid having to pay this waiter any benefits. And certainly not the people in power that can possibly take away his health care insurance or tax his ass out of existence. Sooner rather than later this waiter is going to learn a very expensive lesson. And you’re right rikyrah, I wish a muthaphucka would.

      March 19, 2017 at 12:49 pm

What I don’t understand is WHY IN THE HELL would they ALL show their driver’s licenses? I could understand if they ordered liquor but to be asked for their proper papers is an insult and the manager should have been called to the table ASAP! and the asshole confronted in front of management. If the manager did not fire him on the spot or apologize and give the VIP treatment I would have walked out, then proceed to put my comments on FB, Tweeter, and call EEOC in the county. This is blatant discrimination. I suppose visiting people from Latin countries or Arabic countries are not welcome. There are wealthy and upper middle class people who travel across the world and include the USA in their travels. To those who are not familiar with Huntington Beach, CA, this is in Disneyland’s backyard.

    • 32 CEB
      March 19, 2017 at 1:51 pm

They should have walked out and blasted them on every social media outlet and the local press, then sued them for discrimination. I am A-A and have been in expensive establishments and have never been treated this way. The days of “showing your papers” have returned and must be fought against. One of the reasons 45 is where he is is because many of his voters considered him to be a white nationalist hero when PBO showed his long form birth certificate at that press conference (the darkest day in his administration in my view).

    • March 19, 2017 at 2:51 pm

I would have stood up, spoken to the manager, walked out and sued them silly. What a disgusting display of racism.

    • March 19, 2017 at 4:54 pm

Wait. WTF? Since when did waiters become undercover ICE/CUSTOMS officers?

I don’t mean to be weird…. but this story seems completely absurd to me and implausible, unless this fine dining establishment hired the most ignorant racist person they could find. Seriously. Yes, I know the WAPO contacted the restaurant, and how do you even make up a story so crazy? So it must be true. Still makes no sense to me.

The main reason it doesn’t make any sense, is because, it’s SoCal, and HB – a tourist town – and big for the international pro-circuit of surfing and volleyball, which brings people from all over the globe, throughout the year. The odds of not running into anyone of Latin decent in SoCal in a 24hr period unless you lock yourself in your room, is nearly impossible. Besides, who cares where people are from, that go to ANY restaurant? It’s not like they’re illegal residents asking for Tax Credits to get health care.

It’s a RESTAURANT. It’s Southern California, and 30 minutes from Tourist Mecca Ground Zero: Disneyland. Orange County has been Tourist Central for 60+ years.

Could there be more? Could this have happened? Sure. What’s been happening since November is making me physically sick from the stress. It’s apparently made this waiter go literally insane.

Can we sue the GOV for giving us PTSD?

None of my friends and family who are A-A are panicking over the awful news that hits us everyday from these deplorable people (they often wonder why I let myself get so fired up) because we have seen this before and have lived with it in one form or another since Jamestown, while others were believing in what was written in the Constitution and felt that they had rights that would not be questioned and always upheld. We have little spots of prosperity and longer periods of hardships when out towns are burned, our talents used and we get neither the credit or the pay, our men shot I their neighborhoods and harassed on their own porches, our women lusted after while being called black bitches and monkeys, and our children condemned to buildings that are falling apart, old and used textbooks sent from the white schools (this was my experience until my last year in high school), and even when we had the money, not allowed to go certain places or to purchase homes in certain areas. The big secret, that is finally coming out is that it is predominantly white people who are on the public dole, but they think that they and they alone deserve help. So no, you will not see many A-A people at these public protests (we know that we would be used by so-called progressives and forgotten when there are victories). We have lived what so many are now fearing and we know how to survive.

Have been thinking for the last week or so that the orange one and his whole team it seems have been working on their plan to hurt the little guy with all the programs they are initiating. reducing or eliminating for a long time as everything fell into place so fast. My head is spinning in disbelief. It also makes me very sad for our country as all of you are. Don’t know what to do about it, but I do know that people have to come together and try to put an end to this monster. My thanks go to all who are keeping this place going and keeping us informed. Wonderful to hear from Carolyn about her trip to the Iberian peninsula, hope to hear more. And good to hear about MTMarilyn’s get-away to Spokane.

SOOOO much good info on the previous thread (am ALWAYS behind, lots of good info on other threads too… as someone (an actor I think, but since I don’t watch TV or go to the movies am clueless about who most actors are) said in response to #BlackLivesMatter — (paraphrased) “just because I support rainforests doesn’t mean I say f*ck all other forests.”

I did a little research on Watergate — I’m old enough to remember that time, and how appalling it was, but since I was in college (no TV then too — mostly got caught up during the summer when I returned home) don’t recall the specifics of the event. Hope to post something here on this topic later, but what strikes me is that tomorrow will be an historic day in our country’s history. Based on my Watergate research, @Evan_McMullin is right about the Special Prosecutor…

Thank you Meta, for this information — wasn’t sure when this will begin:

Not being mentioned much is the penalty part of getting back on insurance if you allow it to lapse under the new plan. Also the mandate for companies to help provide full time workers insurance is to be lifted.
ACA’s provision to encourage people getting insurance through being taxed if they don’t holds the cost of the program together except for Congress not funding the Medicaid portions which would collapse it and might I add is being used purposely by the GOP and not argued against by the media.
The ACA’s provisions made starting or creating a new job more doable due to guaranteed healthcare. The GOP would be taking us back to the old model where losing a job would mean losing healthcare. Unless you were wealthy you would be faced with your insurance lapsing and a raise in costs to get back on it. Companies would be incentivized to discontinue sponsoring healthcare through work.
I could go on and on with the problems under this plan. I heard a woman ask why Medicare for all was not being discussed on the radio this morning. I thought WTF doesn’t she even get the basics that the GOP is completely incharge and they do not want any entitlement programs?

*****df, Glad you brought over your’s and other’s comments from last thread. I thought I had said here that I firmly/totally believe that many of the GOP knew from the beginning how the election would turn out. (If not here, have definitely thought it to myself many, many times!!) Not just McConnell and Ryan, but a “boat load” of others. There’s just waaaaaay too much proof. Too many dots to connect. I believe every time any of them “denounced” 45, it was all an act. Nothing but an act!! I agree about contacting the Dems on committee. As you all know, I’m stuck with two R’s (who also very likely are involved in this sham). I will make some calls tomorrow and also plan to post something on all our local Facebook pages. I’m a part of 4 or 5 local activism pages so I’ll come up with something to post and encourage, beg, plead with folks to make some calls. df, if you write to the committee chair and vice chair, they are required to read and consider your message because by being in those positions they represent all the citizens of the US and not just their constituents. And it might be the same for all the committee members, but I’m not sure about that.

So address your letter, email, whatever to Chairman Richard Burr, Senate Intelligence Committee and to Vice Chairman Mark Warner, Senate Intelligence Committee to be sure they know you are addressing an intelligence issue. Also put your mailing address or zip code on your letter. That way they will see this concern is coming from people all across the US and not just one community.

GM and aloha df! Not my senators, but it seems to me this group is supposed to represent everyone, as a select committee of the whole. Yes, being re-elected is important to them, so hearing from constituents is probably more impactful than hearing from the rest of us. But I would think a volume of inquiries would also matter.

As to your original set of inferences, it is truly remarkable how sure the GOP was of winning, in spite of the polls and the massive support for HRC from news editors, elected officials, etc, etc. The time for a deep and unwavering investigation of the election, the ties to Russia, the issue of who knew what when, and what money went where– all that must be probed, considered, and reported to we the people. Pronto!

I’ve been traveling with my family for spring break and today as we tried to board our flight back to America my daughter, my 17 year old, my kind, my courteous, my loved by many, my Tennessee born daughter was denied entry back to her country, my country, our country. In this new #America a citizen of our country can be unlawfully denied entry for no apparent reason other than border patrol would not clear her United States passport for entry. In this new #America my family, my patriotic, my community serving family can be denied entry back to our own homeland. In this new #America my family can be treated unjustly by my own country. Is this the new Great America?

Russia’s history of meddling in outside elections:
“In the last nine years, Russia has invaded its neighbor Georgia, annexed the Ukrainian province of Crimea, supported rebels in Eastern Ukraine and interfered in the U.S. presidential election. The U.S. and the European Union have imposed biting sanctions on Russia for its actions in Ukraine Are these actions a sign that Russia is returning to aggressive foreign policies or are they part of an entirely new direction in Russian foreign policy? If these policies are a return to deep Russian tradition, it will be difficult to reverse Russian aggression.”
Russian historian Lohr looks at patterns of Russian policy stretching back over 300 years:

Neil Gorsuch Helped Defend Disputed Bush-Era Terror Policies

    http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/34948834/hawaii-says-government-cant-alter-order-on-trump-travel-ban

‘ Hawaii is opposing a request for a judge to clarify his order blocking President Donald Trump’s revised travel ban, saying the federal government can’t try to change a ruling already issued by the court.
In court papers filed Saturday, the state asks for a longer-lasting preliminary injunction to cover the Wednesday order by U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson or expedited briefings on whether the injunction should be issued. ‘

I’m reading that when the Senate writes to Roger Stone and Carter Page warning them not to destroy evidence, it’s because they already have what they need and the warning is to ward off further charges for obstruction. I so HOPE this is the case.

There are many times when this feeling is acute.

Yes, yes, yes. We’ve been so fortunate to live in the presence of a great teacher for the past 9 years. From what we know of him, and what he’s stated, we will continue to be blessed with his thoughts and ideas, and hopefully his beautiful face too, for many years to come. ❤
