It’s disgusting but maybe the next time we want to pass something that will benefit EVERYBODY we should bring up the fact that at first they didn’t think it would benefit them but it turned out to be a good thing!

I think I mentioned this the other day…we know what holes need to be filled. While this fight is still fresh in the minds of Americans, we should get in front of the Republicans and make the needed adjustments and claim the mantle of refining Obamacare for the better….preempt the piecemeal dismantling.

It is so good to see a number of up and coming younger democrats – some timein opposition brings out the best in them – unlike the GOP who used their time in opposition to look worse and worse.

Coupled with the posts from Desertflower upthread, cannot. believe. DeVos is Education Secretary. Senators voting for her pretty much thumbed their noses for any accountability for Iraq invasion in 2003 — how many billions of missing contractor dollars are there, and how much ended up in her brother Eric Prince’s pockets?

      March 25, 2017 at 8:31 pm

      I agree. Here’s my thinking:

The United States of America suffered a CATASTROPHIC bloodless attack by a foreign government: Russia. We now have Russian assets, agents, and spies in control of two branches of the federal government. the Executive and Legislative branches. This means when the FBI’s counterintelligence division executes their many many many warrants, most of Trump’s team if not all of them will be removed along with a significant number of GOP House members and US senators. It may also mean the arrests of some individuals in state government at the executive level.

Since Trump was put into office by a foreign power and therefore is illegitimate, it means President Obama is still president. [I really hate that President Obama always has to get dragged into their shit]

Because the number of arrests at the federal level will be staggering, it’s important that we still have a functioning government. I think President Obama will return to provide a calm steady hand, explain what happened, and map out and implement a time certain to elect a new president, probably to coincide with other federal elections in 2018.

I think the feds will seize and freeze Trump’s assets.

Also, I was watching AMJOY this morning and the most interesting segment was the first part of the one that included Malcolm Nance. In his comments, he most likely revealed why Dir Comey and other FBI agents were at the WH on Friday. In response to where Nunes disappeared to on Tuesday evening and where he got his information for his Wednesday press conference, NANCE said this: The information could have come from the White House because they have access to classified networks that hold raw surveillance data including FISA raw data.

I believe the FBI was at the WHITE HOUSE to look for direct evidence of who accessed the network, when they accessed it, where they accessed it and what they accessed.

        • 58 idon
          March 25, 2017 at 10:18 pm

That’s based on the assumption that all Russian assets are in the Executive Branch and that’s false.

I would think that if Trump is deemed not to be a legitimate president that HRC would be president. I believe Obama ceased being president t noon on the 20th of January in every respect including no longer having access to the nuclear codes. Also he served 2 terms. To make him president again I think you would have to amend the constitution. Lastly my thinking is if Trump is not the legitimate president HRC would become president because people voted for her were as no one voted for Obama in 2016, though I really, really wish we could have. That is my take on it.

          • March 26, 2017 at 9:00 am

..There is no provision in the constitution that allows for the loser of the Presidential election to be come President by default…because Trump did win…he has to be impeached in order to to be removed from office…and there is a succession order in the constitution about who becomes President…

            • 62 ydavis00
              March 26, 2017 at 9:56 am

I agree but I don’t know if the line of succession applies if it is determined that the current president should never have taken office. Nixon was impeached and Ford toke office but Nixon was the legitimate president until impeachment. If Trump stole the election, to my mind and I am no expert on this subject in anyway, There in no line of succession to travel through because to get Ryan you have to go through Pence. However if there is no legitimate president then Pence is not the Vice President. In this case, I would argue, that you have an administration that does not actually exist.

The November election had 2 candidates with enough votes to be considered president. If Trump stole the election, he lost the elections by default. I would think that makes Clinton the winner of the November election and president.

It would be great to hear this discussed somewhere and even better IF WE STILL HAD PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!! No matter what he will be my president for the rest of my life. FULL STOP.

Adding some thoughts before going to bed. RE idon’s comment and both of your’s: I agree with all of them. Since I read idon’s, something has been driving me crazy. Who shared months ago about meeting with a fortune teller (or someone like that) and the prediction about PO and what he would be doing in 10 years. The ten years would be 2018, I think. WHO posted that story and what where the details?! The second I read idon’s comment, I recalled the comment but the details are obviously fuzzy. Help, anyone! 🙂

I want this to be over quickly too, but it must be done right. Every.detail.must.be.covered. I still agree with df that McConnell and Ryan ad many others knew how the election would turn out. That’s why they were all so determined to ignore Merrick Garland. All the puzzle pieces keep fitting together. Dots keep getting connected daily. Wait……wait……wait…..It’s tough.

Reading about this election on your link – the US needs some standard rules and candidate checking that should be constant throughout the county. The original dem was taken off the ballot because of where he lived, a judge ruled the replacement could not be on the ballot because it was too late and complaints are rolling in about people helping with write in votes – AND – turnout was 5%

FIVE % does not sound like a population wanting to get dems into power in state and DC.

    http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a54121/how-republicans-lost-healthcare/

You knew things had gone sideways when they locked up the House. The corridors that lead through the heart of the Capitol, from Senate chamber to House chamber, were still an unnavigable mass of tourists and staffers and journalists, all clustered by the walls and in unruly knots below the various graven images in Statuary Hall. The echoes were an impossible gabble of crying children, overmatched tour guides, angry parents, and television stand-ups from many lands. At about 3:30, when the voting was supposed to start, a small, tough-looking woman from the Capitol Police turned out the lights in one of the small foyers leading to the chamber. She swung the big doors shut and slammed the locks down into the floor. And that was pretty much it. Until, of course, Speaker Paul Ryan, the zombie-eyed granny starver from the state of Wisconsin, took to a podium in the bowels of the Capitol and said the following.

“Obamacare is the law of the land for the foreseeable future.”

That statement should have come with a sword for Ryan to hand over to Nancy Pelosi who, let it be said, is one legislative badass. She somehow kept her caucus united. There wasn’t even a hint of blue-doggery from her caucus as it sat back and let the Republicans rip each other to shreds, let the president* get exposed as a rookie who should be sent back to A-ball, and let the conservative movement expose itself as graphically as it ever has as the soulless creature of the money power that it’s been for 40 years. Usually, there are some Democrats who either want to make a deal so that Fred Hiatt will send them a Christmas card, or simply because Democrats occasionally can’t help themselves from trying to make the government, you know, actually work…

“We were a 10-year opposition party where being against things was easy to do,” Ryan said. “And now, in three months’ time, we’ve tried to go to a governing party, where we have to actually get … people to agree with each other in how we do things.” Of course, since 2010, the House has had a Republican majority and a Republican speaker. There have been two of them—John Boehner and Ryan. The crazy caucus ran Boehner out of office and now, they’ve handed Ryan his head. Pro Tip: it’s not you, boys. It’s your party…

To be fair, the president* took the defeat rather better than I thought he would, which is to say he blamed the Democrats, repeated claim that the Affordable Care Act is gasping its last breath, and was so fulsome in his sympathy for Paul Ryan that, were I Ryan, I’d hire a food taster. Somebody’s going to pay for this. You can be sure of that. Meanwhile, as Paul Ryan said, Obamacare remains the law of the land. The Rotunda was still packed with tourists when the news came down and you wondered how many people there had somehow been helped by the Affordable Care Act. Maybe it’s that elderly gent looking up at the statue of Huey Long, or that kid in the wheelchair paused beneath Norman Borlaug. Obamacare is now a pre-existing condition, and a damned stubborn one at that.

My youngest granddaughter (turning 14 tomorrow) is only allowed on FB with adult supervision – a very good thing – and her mother checks her phone every day, so nobody’s trying to prey on her. But they all know how it all works, of course.

Goodnight, TODville and all the ships at sea. And our dear Chips! Miss you!

I miss them so much but am happy that they remain politically engaged.

I have one friend who is planning a trip to the US – won’t cancel because she booked and paid pre trump – others are planning trips anywhere but the US. Be interesting to find out from the major travel companies if their US trips are falling over.

Something else that I’ve no doubt happened. I’m sure she told him where to stick it. Probably why he didn’t want to shake her hand.

    Good READ

Jon Alterman, senior vice-president at the prestigious, and very much establishment, Center for Strategic and International Studies, says:
“What I find puzzling is going ahead with something which would normally require a huge amount of staff work at a time when the staff really isn’t in place. Normally this sort of thing would involve armies of aides drawing up planning documents, agenda, talking points, conclusion briefs on all kinds of things. The Trump administration doesn’t have armies of aides working on these issues.”
Alterman concludes with a particularly acid comment:
“Nobody can imagine a world without the U.S. in a leading role, but governments are starting to think that they need to imagine and hedge against it.”

“Nobody can imagine a world without the U.S. in a leading role, but governments are starting to think that they need to imagine and hedge against it.”

IMHO Governments should have started planning and hedging for this since November 2016! Any govt starting now is late. Old Alliances will have to be modified at least tentatively to exclude the US.

45 is destroying his “Country” at least I think the US is his country, so what does he care about any other country?
