I think right now that idea is dawning on many people that hadn’t let that sink in before. I could not wish for a better outcome. Those of us that have linked arms with President Obama understood that and kept moving forward using the ideas of respecting, empowering and including. Doing what you can as a citizen as opposed to the cynical anarchists, is taking off as a concept. People will feel what we have felt for a long time, invested, encouraged, competent, and willing to do their part time and again. I hope the idea that voting is a big part of this will be another outcome going forward.
Trump hasn't been winning much recently so I thought I'd throw him a bone. Here's something he could win, with new records in every category pic.twitter.com/uYlkhkiMgc
So much that the media ignored during the campaign with their 100% concentration on those emails.
It is delightful to see/hear today that President Obama will always be known as the President who kept his promise AND CARED about providing health care for all Americans.
Why does he have to be out of office to be honored and admired for what he did? History will talk of this for time immortal.
I can’t even explain what yesterday was like. Deep in my heart, I try to remain optimistic and hopeful, believing in the strength of our better selves. But Trump and his band of cretins really test my ability to have faith in humanity.
I followed the unfolding events very closely. The last couple of days were very see-saw, one moment it was a go and the next it was a fail. That proceeded to happen throughout the day. But so many people came through to make calls and express their objections in such incredibly overwhelming numbers, it was really astonishing. The WH called the vote was to happen at 3:30pm Eastern. I searched for a “the clerk will call the roll” tweet out of the House but it was nowhere in sight. THEN suddenly, the Speaker called for a close of the session and it was a bit of pandemonium. Then it suddenly became apparent that he PULLED THE BILL off the floor vote!!!! OMG, what a day!!
Good morning TODers. Congrats to all of you for your hard fought successful battle to keep the ACA. Of course that battle continues, but I hope you all took a bit of time to celebrate that one! 😊 👍👍
And, the Pete Souza shade continues! 😆https://www.instagram.com/p/BSEGbEwFmqE/
I’m fairly sure that this humungous defeat hurt them all more because they control every single branch of govt and they could not get this done. This will fuck with their “minds” for a good. long. time. As it should.
Right on Bob. Compassionate Americans are the TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS. Not the treasonous trash that is Tang Tyrant, Turtle, the Granny Starver and the GOP Rethuglicans.
Our illustrious Forever President knew and believed with every fiber of his being that WE are the change we seek. We compassionate Americans proved that yesterday. Let’s keep it up!! ❤ ❤ ❤ is our power to overcome hate, evil and ignorance.
Well, if they’d killed the ACA they would have counted that a victory. Does he mean positive victories in the sense of actually making things better for people, or the kind of victories like killing the ACA would have been? Also, has it taken him 7 years to realize that the GOP has no positive platform, just an agenda of obstruction?
I can imagine a couple of Republicans sitting around drinking scotch and saying amongst themselves; “just think what we could do if Obama was on our side”.
This photo has me cracking up. Pretty much sums up Trump's mental competency. https://t.co/CESuOixMZn— Impeach Donald Trump (@Impeach_D_Trump) March 24, 2017
Yesterday was such a relief and an opportunity to celebrate President Obama’s vision, the power of grassroots organizing, and to shore up intention to carry on the resistance. They went low with Trumpcare. Would love to see the Democrats go high with a bill to give medicare to all.
I’m not sure but seeing as the IG’s office is investigating it might be against the law for him to pull them. But I’m sure outside groups will quickly start to run pro Obamacare ads if Trump can legally pull ads.
YES, Obamacare is the law of the land. Trump has a sworn duty to carry out the spirit and letter of the law. By pulling funds designated for Obamacare – ads, subsidies, etc. – he could stand in violation of the law. I think this investigation will be the tip of the iceberg.
I’m not sure but I think he had already pulled the ads during the enrollment period. That may be why they are investigating if that was a legal action. But I’m not sure.
I think I remembered hearing that during the enrollment period the ad money was frozen or something so the ads could not play. I thought there was some sort of freezing of Obamacare funds by Congress before the election guaranteeing raising of premiums which allowed the GOP to use it as a repeal argument. Also that Paul Ryan had the ACA money to use for the GOP healthcare plan when asked by a reporter.
I wish I could give PBO and huge, long hug of thanks for all that he did for us. How the best minds and most hard-working, talented and creative people were drawn to all that they saw in him and joined with him to deliver for millions of people. He showed us what a true leader is: enlightened, compassionate (he always talked to his staff, the interns and us about kindness), intelligent, hardworking, and full of integrity. One who puts the needs and concerns of those he serves before his own. he refused to demonize others even though they demonized him. He had the strength to stand up to our enemies abroad and to be unrelenting in his determination to bring justice to one who had grievously wounded us. He put his sorrow aside to comfort us and always,, no matter what happened, refused to let us give in to despair. He showed us that a leader can and must love those he serves from the least to the highest. He literally held us in his arms and wiped our tears away. He showed that being a man was not about being loud and imposing one’s will on others, but about listening, working together, and when it was time to give the final answer or command, he would do so ready and willing to take responsibility for whatever happened as a result. A true leader is trusted instinctively, we know a good person when we see one even if we cannot explain how we know. A true leader helps those who follow him to feel good about themselves and what they can do. He celebrates accomplishments big and small and encourages us when we fall short. For 8 years we saw all of this and more in our 44th president, Barack Hussein Obama and while it is so heart-breaking to see what has followed him, we are yet lifted up because he showed us what could be and more importantly, what we could be in affecting our own destines.
I do not like the New England Patriots, but I understand and appreciate why they win all the time. They win because they know what they are doing and they don’t panic, but more importantly they practice their craft until they know it in their sleep. In the super bowl they lost the battle but they won the war. After yesterday’s defeat of Trump and the Republicans, I came away with an even greater appreciating of President Obama and Vice President Biden and their team. A lot of professional sports teams win and lose games not knowing why and how they won or lost. The Patriots aren’t lucky, they are winners, and they remind me of the 80’s Lakers. A lot people thought that with those teams the only thing you had to do was to throw the ball out there and let them do their thing. But that wasn’t the case, Pat Riley had those Laker teams practice three hours a day. Grueling conditioning sessions that made them pass out, hours and hours of film sessions. For those teams, game day was a night off in that the only time they got to rest was during the actual games. President Obama started out working in the streets of Chicago, going door to door to meet with people and to connect with people and to listen to their thoughts. The first words I ever heard come out of President Obama’s mouth were that he was a community organizer. He always talks about being a community organizer; he talks about being a community organizer before he talks about anything else. He values and understands hard work, he values and understands grunt work, and he gets into the weeds of a problem to fully understand all sides of a problem. If nothing else he is a hard worker and a thinker and a true believer. Donald Trump isn’t any of those things, Donald Trump is all hat and no cattle. Donald Trump had no idea what happened to him yesterday, if you asked him today what happened yesterday he still wouldn’t be able to explain it. Yesterday ignorance and laziness and incompetence lost to hard work and togetherness.
All of this, especially the last sentence (another that I am adopting): “Yesterday ignorance and laziness and incompetence lost to hard work and togetherness.” We have to see to it that this is ever the case going forward.

… “I’m surprised nobody’s knocked that hat off your head!” a mother of two scolded me as we crossed paths along Central Park West and 63rd Street. “Make America Great Again — right!” …
Yesterday was so important for many reasons.
1. We kept healthcare for 24 million Americans
2. They blew their shot on the one chance a year for Reconciliation
3. Trumpcare was nothing but a tax cut plan masquerading as a healthcare plan. Now that that is gone, they must do their tax evil OUT IN THE OPEN.
4. Yes, Price is a demon, but everything that he does to sabotage Obamacare is out in the open and we can highlight it.
5. The ZEGK’s plan to dismantle the American Social Safety Net was dealt a blow. He’s gonna have to do it out in the open too.
Yep, everything they do now as far as taxes go will have to be done out in the open. They can no longer hide their hands after throwing a rock. I think the tax issue will be a heavy lift because doing anything concerning taxes is always the third rail in politics. You can play around with it all you want to, but just don’t touch it. And after yesterday’s debacle I think a lot of Republicans are skittish.
Yesterday’s events are analogous to a man with a gold pinky ring on sitting in his robe on the side of the bed waiting for a desired result to happen after taking one thousand milligrams of Viagra. Sadly nothing happens and the poor guy finally gives up and falls to sleep only to wake up wiping drool off of the side of his face.
I see that Kansas is finally going to accept Medicaid expansion, what with their Republican Governor going full Captain Ahab and all. I don’t see how Trump thinks that letting Obamacare die on the vine is going to solve the issue of providing health care for all. When states opt in for Medicaid expansion it always allows their states to become more financially solvent, unless their legislatures are ran by complete morons. Once a person gets the taste of a fully functioning health care system, the only way to take it away from them is to pry it from their cold dead hands.
So thankful to Nerdy for keeping the village open. We have been able to encourage each other during the darkest early days of this often frightening reality. Knowledge is power and as we learned more and shared it, we slowly began to pick ourselves up from the debilitating despair that so many of us felt. We saw that millions felt as we did and started to do something about it. Many here brushed off their OFA skills (most had never let them go fallow), remembered what PBO has taught us and sallied forth to do battle in the greatest war of our lifetime to decide who and what we would be as a nation. We have fought the bitterness and the sadness with community and action. We know that there will be many more battles to be fought to change the direction of our country. Sometimes we still feel lost, outraged, and just plain old hurt when we see the callousness, the hate, the greed of the GOP and their enablers and the weakness and loss of direction of some in the democratic party. But, we always have this place when we are weary, tired, and sad to share feelings that we often are not disclosing to those around us in our everyday world and know that we will be understood and accepted. More importantly, we have this place to feed the fire in the belly to not accept things as they are, but to be weaponized with knowledge to be the change that we seek. Thank you, NW, for helping us to keep our sanity and thank you TOD ohana, for your wisdom, love, and determination, as well as your crazy ass humor (ZEGK=Paul Ryan). All of you inspire me.
It truly takes a Village CEB and I’m so happy that we still have TOD as our Village. Together, we can uplift and encourage one another towards victory!. Yes. We. Can!
I will give out before I give up.
The science nerds are ready for war. From the article: “The way Obama and Hedron emphasized science and technology left a mark on those who worked there (the OSTP). Their time under President Obama and Dr. Hedron galvanized a whole new kind of passion from them because they saw it (science) being paid attention to at the highest level.” The article goes on to relate some of the things (they are holding their playbook close to their chests) that the scientist are doing for STEM education, climate change and other science related initiatives. Our community organizer president left his mark on everyone who worked with him and they are not lying down for what the barbarians-on-the-hill and the white house are trying to do. It is becoming more clear each day why PBO could sound so confident in his farewell speech. he spent more than 8 years empowering people and now they are ready to carry on the fight. PBO’s legacy lives in the lives of those who are stepping up and out fighting for what is right and good.
Could all this be any more annoying and obnoxious? First, we were saddled with Rick Perry who said “Oops – I had no idea what they actually did at the Energy Department.” Now, because Trump has NO UNDERSTANDING of what an office like this would accomplish, he and his neanderthals see the words “science and technology,” and think the word: disband. I’m no STEM candidate or graduate, but I hung with scientists, technologists, and engineers for 30 years, while working for the Navy. Trump’s precious little gazillion-dollar increase in military spending is going to go not just to uniforms for the military, but to the science and technology behind everything they touch, wear, strategize, fly in, drive around, or set off. And encouraging men and women in our country to get into these fields does not benefit just the military, but also space technology, and the very transfer of technology that benefits the private sector AND ALL OF US. For instance, the military identifies a need and pays for the design of new aircraft, but it’s built at defense contractor plants. Both provide jobs for hundreds of thousands of people, many of whom come from other countries (unless they’re hit by Trump’s ban, of course). We must impeach this guy and get all of his hangers-on OUT OF THERE.
So appreciative of the men and women in these extremely important governmental positions who want to share their brains, for the good of our country and the world! Happy to see that so many of them are not giving up, despite (as my buddy CanadaBarb calls him) the Orange Crush.
The Washington Post’s Powerpost section has an article that talks about the grassroots’ successful efforts in the fight against the AHCA in an informed and intelligent way for the most part (too much Bernie credit at one point). The title warrants a little side-eye “Left Out of AHCA fight – Democrats let their Grassroots Lead and Win” (they did not “let” us do anything; we moved without consulting them), but the overall article is a good one.
useful “divide and conquer” liberals tool for “the news” owners. he’s been going around saying the same things for 30 years and “the news” rarely gave him any coverage, yet now you’d think he’s the official spokesperson for all “the left.” even gets primetime tv shows almost all to himself now and presented as the democrats rep, despite not being a dem. the change from no coverage for decades, to now the be all-end all for liberal viewpoints is “the tell” for me that this has been on purpose by the owners.
I love the way you write, Don. The first part of your sentence which sucks us in shows you as the scholarly type that you are. And then just a short time later, same sentence, you have dragged us all in and many are saying to themselves, ” … is being shoved down our fucking throats.” It’s like the alpha and the omega in one cereal box.
And, yes, you may have this embroidered on a pillow, without attribution.
Well Jacqueline, first of all thank you, but I ain’t no scholar. I’m just an average guy that tries to convey what I see and feel and what I think is going on.
I believe that Bernie will settle down once enough pushback to him and to MSM that he is NOT the spokesperson for Democrats. Tweet, email, call him and them to be quiet. We have found our voice, let’s use it.
Hello TOD Community.
Last Post & this Post, Congrats to J’OB & DF…..respectively on their Au ⭐ ⭐
I am still over the moon that #ACA is here for at least until 2018. With a change in Congress, for the foreseeable future.

Jesus Christ! They went straight for the National Security guy. I’m thinking we’re talking about treason here and not money. It takes time to build a money case. They have something on this guy and its bigly.
The brain lock is unreal. They are incapable of grasping that the American people are flatly rejecting their ideological alternative. https://t.co/J2yN0uS0tZ
Really it was the “Freedom Caucus” that doomed the repeal vote. You do know the Freedom Caucus don’t you? They’re the scorched earth faction of the Republican Party. If there is a bill that doesn’t have the requisite amount of pain in it they don’t even get out of bed to vote for it, these guys eat baby seals for appetizers. The Freedom Caucus was invented by the Republican Party in the lead up to the 2008 election. And throughout President Obama’s terms in office they grew stronger, and crazier. In their spare time they construct “Suicide Vest”. There wasn’t a conspiracy theory crazy enough about President Obama that they wouldn’t believe. So for the last ten years or so, it’s really been longer than ten years but I’m just trying to drill down to a more manageable time frame. Anyway, the Republican Party has gone about its business demonizing every inch of the social safety net, food stamps and low income housing and any type of government assistance. The Republicans have gotten so good at this argument that they have convinced the very people that need assistance that getting assistance is a bad thing. So now when the Republican Party needed the Freedom Caucus to vote for repeal bill, the Freedom Caucus revolted. They revolted because the bill wasn’t bloody enough. The Republican Party not only created their own failure they’ve also created their own doomsday machine in the Freedom Caucus. The only thing we as a resistance have to do now is show a sustained level of resistance against whatever nonsense bill the Republican Party puts forth and watch as the Freedom Caucus destroy the bill for not having the sufficient amount of pain in it.
Brutal headline in Paul Ryan's hometown newspaper: "Ryan suffers brutal defeat in withdrawal after failing to unite a divided party" pic.twitter.com/a9RKBGuXXp
Basketball fans tonight in several Republican-adjacent TV markets are enjoying a series of ads, prematurely bought by the American Action Network PAC, inviting viewers to call their representatives to thank them for repealing Obamacare today—something that did not happen.
The ad campaign in reference has been on the air for nearly two weeks and is part of an ongoing effort that started in January to urge lawmakers to fulfill their promise on repealing and replacing Obamacare.
Actually, that detail is totally believable. I still need to pinch myself regularly to prove that I am living in reality and this clown is the actually the US President.
“Where did [Nunes] receive this information? From our knowledge, no one on his staff and no other members were a part of this,” Rep. Eric Swalwell said on MSNBC on Thursday. “So that means it had to be outside of the Capitol. So, did he go to another agency? And does that mean that the White House was a part of this? It sure seems like the White House after what came out on Monday was scrambling to do anything it could to put another smoke bomb into this investigation.”
This needs to be bigger news. Trump appears to be fulfilling his promise to carpet bomb ISIS. Record civilian deaths-1,000 dead this month. https://t.co/rJIuMJvB2v
Three sources briefed on Trump’s recent discussions told the Times that the blame for the legislative failure has fallen on Priebus, who was in charge of coordinating an initial plan on ObamaCare repeal with Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).
Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price was also blamed for the failure, according to the report, while the president was reportedly annoyed with Jared Kushner, his adviser and son-in-law, who returned to Washington on Friday from a family skiing trip in Colorado.
GM!
Good morning and mille grazie to NW, all day, every day.
I really feel we owe these people a huge debt. Don’t know where we’d be without them providing so much concrete ideas and motivation.
Agreed. It was their facts that I used when I dealt with my congressman. Huge thanks to them:)
THIS!!!!!
Okay everyone, calm down I’m here.
thank god. I can rest easy now:) Morning!!

We might just be the ones we been waiting for.
Stop. That brought a tear to my eye.

Hi Meta _ I’m very late to see your post – so pleased about yesterday – I went out to lunch to celebrate – drank a few toasts to TOD and PBO 🙂
Cool!!
And doesn’t that “Barack Obama” line look perfect?
Good morning, meta, and thanks for sharing this chart – I’m going to keep it handy!
It’s a beautiful thing!

Have no idea how television is handling yesterday’s fiasco, but are they reporting the ODS that GOP used to get elected?
MSM missed this story throughout the entire 2016 campaign (tweet from Dec 2015):

And one more, from @nytimes recap of yesterday’s events:

I’m so proud that Americans found some grit and backbone to fight for the ACA. The World was watching.
Good news!

I’m often just a lurker, but also very appreciative.
It truly takes a Village CEB and I’m so happy that we still have TOD as our Village. Together, we can uplift and encourage one another towards victory!. Yes. We. Can!
I will give out before I give up.
Hear! Hear! CEB.
I am perplexed as to why Bernie Sanders is being shoved down our throats?
useful “divide and conquer” liberals tool for “the news” owners. he’s been going around saying the same things for 30 years and “the news” rarely gave him any coverage, yet now you’d think he’s the official spokesperson for all “the left.” even gets primetime tv shows almost all to himself now and presented as the democrats rep, despite not being a dem. the change from no coverage for decades, to now the be all-end all for liberal viewpoints is “the tell” for me that this has been on purpose by the owners.
🙂 Carry on.
Well Jacqueline, first of all thank you, but I ain’t no scholar. I’m just an average guy that tries to convey what I see and feel and what I think is going on.
Yeah – I’m no scholar either, but you just described the best kind!
I LOL’d…honestly, we all have our gifts, don’t we? That’s why we all love this home so much:)
We certainly do:)
I believe that Bernie will settle down once enough pushback to him and to MSM that he is NOT the spokesperson for Democrats. Tweet, email, call him and them to be quiet. We have found our voice, let’s use it.
Or when everyone gets tired of hearing him repeat the same old thing.
I’m not exactly sure how that happened. My one sentence was a reply to GGail’s comment about Sanders. The other I had already posted…
Exactly, maryl
The guy was two minutes from saying he invited MLK to speak at the March on Washington. Bernie Sanders doesn’t have the settle down gene in him.
Hello TOD Community.
Last Post & this Post, Congrats to J’OB & DF…..respectively on their Au ⭐ ⭐
I am still over the moon that #ACA is here for at least until 2018. With a change in Congress, for the foreseeable future.
{{{ ❤ Chips ❤ }}}
Thank you!!!
Jesus Christ! They went straight for the National Security guy. I’m thinking we’re talking about treason here and not money. It takes time to build a money case. They have something on this guy and its bigly.
Less people died in “Goodfellas”.
Are you sure you didn’t wonder into an insane asylum by mistake, they look so charming and inviting on the outside.

Well deserved.
Appears they thought it would be business as usual…
Basketball fans tonight in several Republican-adjacent TV markets are enjoying a series of ads, prematurely bought by the American Action Network PAC, inviting viewers to call their representatives to thank them for repealing Obamacare today—something that did not happen.
The ad campaign in reference has been on the air for nearly two weeks and is part of an ongoing effort that started in January to urge lawmakers to fulfill their promise on repealing and replacing Obamacare.
A “pacifier” to keep him from tweeting while giving the babysitters a break?????
I wonder what is really going on there
He makes me want to scream. He’s so self-righteous and often so WRONG.
As with most of the GOP, his words (of condemnation) do not necessarily equate to his actions (of acceptance).
When someone shows you who they are, believe them. Would not doubt that this is true.
Actually, that detail is totally believable. I still need to pinch myself regularly to prove that I am living in reality and this clown is the actually the US President.
Hmmmm
“Where did [Nunes] receive this information? From our knowledge, no one on his staff and no other members were a part of this,” Rep. Eric Swalwell said on MSNBC on Thursday. “So that means it had to be outside of the Capitol. So, did he go to another agency? And does that mean that the White House was a part of this? It sure seems like the White House after what came out on Monday was scrambling to do anything it could to put another smoke bomb into this investigation.”
This guy Nunes is teaching a master level class on how TO get caught.
WHY hasn’t this been talked about?!?!?!?! HUUUUUUUGE, so why? Who is protecting him?
Maybe Rachel will be talking about it next week. But I know what you mean. Too busy chasing after 45’s shiny objects.
THREAD!! There are even MORE names named in the “Connect the Dots” game!! ie: Ryan Zinke, now the Sec. of Interior…..
Buck still does not stop with 45
Three sources briefed on Trump’s recent discussions told the Times that the blame for the legislative failure has fallen on Priebus, who was in charge of coordinating an initial plan on ObamaCare repeal with Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).
Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price was also blamed for the failure, according to the report, while the president was reportedly annoyed with Jared Kushner, his adviser and son-in-law, who returned to Washington on Friday from a family skiing trip in Colorado.
Oh please, he’s mad at Kushner for an entirely different reason.
Truth. Ugh.
What?
New post.
