I go nuts, too, every time I hear his name or see a photo, and especially when he gives a speech.
Love the guy, love his family. So, so glad he was our VPOTUS for 8 years!
And I bet there will be lots of photos with him in them in Pete’s book due out in November. Can’t wait for that.

And it won’t be just one book or speech. Obama has lots to say and lots of insight. That he’s well paid to do so? Obama is a young man with 2 girls to put through college. None of that is cheap. He has a house in DC. That’s not cheap either.

Jimmy Carter didn’t to the speech circuit because it wasn’t as set up as now, and because he lost his bid for a second term. There wasn’t exactly a great demand for him and speeches.

For a brief moment I wished that Biden would have been our next President. I think he would have demolished Orange Cheeto,Russians or no.
But I,m glad to see him happy and relaxed.

I watched [most of] this interview this morning. Most notable, Mnuchin could not guarantee anything and refused to discuss specifics — especially regarding the impact on 45 and his family — because they have no details as to the whats and hows of this plan, the financial impact to individuals and groups, and the cost to the country (i.e., impact to the deficit).

The 2005 tax that was released already indicates that these high level tax reform proposals would have a favorable impact to 45’s (and others in his income bracket) bottom line.

    • April 27, 2017 at 9:33 am

Should someone making $150M+ pay less than 5% federal tax rate?

Mnuchin: “This is not about [Trump’s] taxes.”

Why don’t ppl have right to know how [plan] will affect Trump?

“Public has lots of info on President’s financials.”

Very interesting list, and a lot of work you’ve done on this, thank you.

Darrell Issa’s CD is +R4, which is what my (former) CD was, before redistricting after 2010 census and CA’s independent commission which determines CD boundaries. We’re now D+7 — what a difference this commission has made.

Would be interesting to find out why some of these hugely R districts voted for HRC too.

    “It’s Been Chaos”

How our panel of frustrated Republican voters view Trump’s first 100 days.

    By Seth Stevenson

Last year, I began talking to a panel of Republican voters who weren’t fond of Donald Trump. I spoke to them during the primaries in March, after Trump became the presumptive nominee in May, and just before the election at the end of October. This was never a scientific undertaking—my sample size is tiny, found through my own social and professional networks. It’s just been a glimpse into the thought processes of some longtime Republicans who are deeply uncomfortable with the idea of Trump as the face of their party. With the 100-day mark of the new administration nearing, I thought I’d check in with them once again to see how they’re feeling about the Trump era.

Russian-owned Rosneft can claim ownership of U.S. oil if Citgo oil defaults on billions in loans.
“If Venezuela defaults on its bond payments, (Putin’s) Rosneft could own several refineries, nine pipelines, and distribution terminals all across the Eastern U.S., from Texas to Maine, without any government oversight. If the Russians end up owning Citgo, they will be using American consumers to fund their autocracy and Assad’s brutality in Syria.”
    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2017/04/27/russia-gave-to-citgo-and-citgo-gave-to-trump.html.
Trump is suspected to be one of the anonymous buyers of a 19.5% stake purchased in Rosneft last December. Clearly Putin has plans for America beyond removing sanctions on EXXON/Rosneft oil in the Arctic.

African-Americans, especially women and “woke” young people are watching all of this DNC racism and condescension and gross mismanagement. We see and Black and Brown man allowing themselves to be outmaneuvered by an old white guy, who is not even a member of the party and his ignorant cult. We see and hear a Black man taking on the old despised role of the crab in the bucket and we are not pleased. Democrats have the numbers, but no strategy and an awful habit of turning on each other, and an ineffective leadership. My hopes, prayers, energy and funds are allocated to grassroots efforts and long established, inclusive, and successful groups. The DNC leadership and most of those in congress, especially the men, are more interested position and will do anything to keep it. We have not and will not see courageous acts from them in this fight to rescue and to improve our country.

    “The Vindication Of Rachel Maddow”

Journalists Panned Her Report On Trump’s Tax Returns, But It Produced The Best Evidence Trump’s Tax Proposal Boosts His Own Bottom Line.

Under pressure to show some sign — any sign — that President Donald Trump’s administration hasn’t squandered its first 100 days in office, the White House yesterday released a one-page collection of bullet points billed as a tax plan.

There are many unanswered questions relevant to the 200-word proposal…One thing seem seems clear, however: If this proposal becomes law, the Trump family will be the big winners.

As The New York Times’ Neil Irwin noted after detailing the proposal:

It is striking how many of the categories listed above affect the president and his family. He is a high-income earner. He receives income from 564 business entities, according to his financial disclosure form, and could take advantage of the low rate on ”pass-through” companies. According to his leaked 2005 tax return, he paid an extra $31 million because of the alternative minimum tax that he seeks to eliminate. And his heirs could eventually enjoy his enormous assets tax-free.

…Trump’s “leaked 2005 tax return” provides the best available evidence of the impact Trump’s proposal will have on his own wallet.

For that, we have MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and The Daily Beast’s David Cay Johnston to thank. It is a vindication for Maddow in particular, who was widely criticized by political reporters for the way in which she revealed documents that none of them had been able to obtain.

Let me get this straight: when an idiotic, privileged white man makes a lot of money, the elastic waist polyester pants crowd celebrates his success and thinks he’s going to bring that success to the door of their double-wide. But a highly popular former POTUS, with Ivy League degrees, a constitutional law professor, should stay poor like *all* of his fellow AA’s?

Dolt45 doesn’t know the difference from the Ninth Circuit and the ninth hole, but PBO shouldn’t share his unique and deep knowledge of health care policy with those who desperately should be listening?

Days like this, I loathe what has happened to the human race.

Reminds me of a former job where our fraud investigations team were mostly retired LAPD or sheriffs.

They all wore those leisure-suit kind of things… in the 1990s, and I used to joke that they had a hotline to call to find out where they could buy (e.g., JC Penneys, Sears, etc.) — before Internet online shopping, where I think you can buy just about anything you want now.

Its not only the far left that traffic in this type of bullshit, the Democratic Party is full of people with this type of thinking. The arrogance it takes to dictate to an African American Senator/President/Noble Peace Prize winner how much money he should make is not lost on the 90% of African Americans that consistently vote Democrat. When you attack President Obama you are attacking us.

Insurers would be required to offer insurance to people with pre-existing conditions, but could charge them unlimited premiums

Guaranteed access to insurance with no limit on premiums for people who are sick is not guaranteed access in practice.

People with continuous coverage would be protected, and there would be a strong incentive for people who are sick to avoid gaps if they can.

An uninsured person who gets sick would have no guarantee of being able to get insurance at a reasonable premium.

On the other hand, waiving community rating would result in significantly lower premiums for people who are healthy.

To obtain a waiver, a state would have to have one of:
    A high-risk pool.
    A reinsurance program.
    An invisible risk-sharing program.

The AHCA includes no requirements for high-risk pool eligibility, premiums, or benefits. So, there is no guarantee for people who are sick.

Reinsurance and invisible risk-sharing programs provide funding to insurers, with no guarantees to people who are sick.
