Love will always win! Thanks for the reminder, Nerdy. And if we all stand together, near and far, we’ll be winners, too. Down with hate.

I was even talking with my oldest granddaughter the other night, who was mentioning some unkind people and I found myself reminding her of another lesson we’ve learned together. I told her, “Remember – when they go low, we go high. We rise above it.”

    I blame the Obamas. ❤

    • June 4, 2017 at 6:54 pm

That is SO SWEET. It’s so important to pass on these lessons. Every time I see PBO or FLOTUS, I feel their lessons and their love.

IMO, the press and the public are giving way too much oxygen to these noose sightings. They are not a threat. We need to ignore their antics so they will stop. Our focus should stay on course. RESIST!

Discussion earlier on twitter about how Trump’s tweets should be treated as official statements. Referring to them merely as tweets diminishes their importance and allows GOPers to pass on responding to them. I agree!

According to the report by journalist MJ Lee, the evolution of Trump’s quasi-Christianity took him from First Presbyterian Church in Jamaica, Queens, where he was raised and confirmed, to Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan.

Although Trump was close to Marble’s former reverend and author of the bestselling self-help book “Power of Positive Thinking” Norman Vincent Peale, the late pastor’s son has publicly rebuked the president. Prior to the election, Peale’s son John said he “cringes” when Trump invoked his fathers name on the campaign trail.

“I don’t respect Mr. Trump very much. I don’t take him very seriously. I regret the publicity of the connection,” Peale’s son wrote. “This is a problem for the Peale family.”

The Peale family weren’t the only ones to distance themselves from Trump — during the campaign, Marble Collegiate issued a statement rejecting Trump’s claims that he attends their church and stated he “is not an active member.”

      June 4, 2017 at 9:11 pm

All well and good to take a stand, however, this family could wield considerable influence if they had the courage and integrity beyond ‘not respecting mr trump, not taking him very seriously’, and let people know the man is dangerous and the entire world must recognize it is imperative to have him removed from office, as soon as possible. The election results were criminally interfered with, the GOP did not win, and the entire administration along with many senior GOP officials are in collusion with the deceit. Nothing less than complete purging of upper ranking GOP will be sufficient to guard against potential world-wide disaster. We haven’t the time to allow it to continue for months and/or years.

If Sessions isn’t removed from office one way or another, the DOJ will help give White Supremacists cover for their crimes by not recognizing them as terror/hate crimes.

The only terrorists the Trump Administration (and followers) believe in are the scary brown ones. (Except for the terrorists from the countries excluded from the Travel Ban, because Trump needs their $$$!)

The conclusion of an excellent article by Rebecca Solnit:

“The man in the white house sits, naked and obscene, a pustule of ego, in the harsh light, a man whose grasp exceeded his understanding, because his understanding was dulled by indulgence. He must know somewhere below the surface he skates on that he has destroyed his image, and like Dorian Gray before him, will be devoured by his own corrosion in due time too. One way or another this will kill him, though he may drag down millions with him. One way or another, he knows he has stepped off a cliff, pronounced himself king of the air, and is in freefall. Another dungheap awaits his landing; the dung is all his; when he plunges into it he will be, at last, a self-made man.”

    GM TODville.

A couple of thoughts about Qatar and North Korea, both of which point to DJT’s alliance with Saudi Arabia (Qatar) and Putin (North Korea), both of which relate to FOSSIL FUELS (surprising, huh? [snark]).

I think this article is from Sep 2016 (unable to find a year on this report), but Qatar upped $1bn of their own money to fund an air base for US to use in Iraq war (war against ISIS).

But no worries, I’m sure our planes will soon be using Prince Sultan air base in Saudi Arabia:

IMHO, Saudi action against Qatar was agreed to last month, during DJT visit to there (#SwordsAndOrbs trip).

It’s time to bust the myth: Most Trump voters were not working class.
By Nicholas Carnes and Noam Lupu
    June 5 at 6:00 AM

Media coverage of the 2016 election often emphasized Donald Trump’s appeal to the working class. The Atlantic said that “the billionaire developer is building a blue-collar foundation.” The Associated Press wondered what “Trump’s success in attracting white, working-class voters” would mean for his general election strategy. On Nov. 9, the New York Times front-page article about Trump’s victory characterized it as “a decisive demonstration of power by a largely overlooked coalition of mostly blue-collar white and working-class voters.”

There’s just one problem: this account is wrong. Trump voters were not mostly working-class people.

    http://washingtonmonthly.com/magazine/junejulyaugust-2017/trumps-plan-to-make-government-older-more-expensive-and-more-dysfunctional/

While the number of federal employees has basically flatlined for a half century, the government has ballooned if you include another group in your tally: private contractors. As the size and scope of federal programs grew, but the number of civil servants stayed fixed, that labor had to get done by someone. Congress’s answer has increasingly been to contract with the private sector. So when Trump and the Republicans say they’re going to shrink government by cutting federal workers, do a mental autocorrect. What they’re really saying is, we’re going to be shoveling a lot more money out the door to federal contractors.

This means that the federal government is about to get considerably costlier and more dysfunctional. Despite the claims made about the efficiency of the private sector, hiring for-profit contractors costs taxpayers a lot more money than paying civil servants does—to the tune of hundreds of billions per year. Meanwhile, an understaffed government is one that screws up more often as shorthanded agencies struggle to manage programs, monitor all the contractors, and prevent Hurricane Katrina–type disasters. And the addiction to contractors at the expense of adding federal employees means that these agencies are staffed overwhelmingly by people at or nearing retirement age, with no young talent coming up through the ranks behind them.

Americans think federal bureaucracies are bloated. In reality, they are radically understaffed. There are 2.1 million federal civil servants today, the same number as fifty years ago, even though federal spending and the GDP have quadrupled.
Ever since Ronald Reagan said “government is the problem,” Republicans have been happy to outsource—even though it wastes money—because it lets them look tough on “big government” without actually cutting the programs their constituents like. Democrats, meanwhile, have gone along with growing this shadow government as a way to make sure federal programs are administered without opening themselves up to attacks that they are growing the bureaucracy.

I did not watch the interview last evening, but have heard some of the snippets leading up to it. I felt that NBC (via Megyn Kelly) provided Putin a forum to propagandize, ridicule, and mock. Why an interview with Putin was considered a major coup I’ll never understand. We’re in the midst of an investigation about Russia’s involvement/influence in our last election. Putin should not have been given a forum to put his spin on it or anything else.

According to USA Today, “there are approximately 15,000 federal air traffic controllers on the job every day at 315 FAA air traffic facilities around the country, managing more than 87,000 daily flights across U.S. airspace.” So, keep in mind whatever trump says about privatizing this group, to piano accompaniment at the WH today along with love drips out of Pence’s mouth corners, first it’s only 14-15K ATCs in the federal workforce; if they’re not offered early retirements, those people have to find jobs, and he’s only doing it for the good of private companies and NOT to save taxpayer dollars. None of which he pays.

Elaine Chao is looking at trump from behind like she’s saying to herself, “My god, even he is better looking than my husband the turtle.”

I have trump muted, but from the chyron, I see he’s saving us taxpayers more money, so someday when we finally see his tax returns, he can say yes I know I didn’t pay anything, but I’m fixing it so you don’t have to, either. Well, if you’re in the top one percent.

It seems that Pence has been given the “prestigious” role of introducing 45, which includes a welcome to the WH and a litany of lies about how 45 is MAGA.

It’s okay – looked to me like it was all paid trolls in the audience, including the RWNJ congress critters. Ugh. Pence is the biggest fool of all, after trump. Ugh x 2.

That’s why his deplorables think he’s getting things done: he signs a lot of “stuff”; the MSM never explains what he actually signed, and they think he’s “leading”.
