    GA/GE TODville.

As we await the results for GA-06, here’s something to ponder:

  4. June 20, 2017 at 9:01 pm

    Q: What are we Doooooing?
NONE of the machines have a paper trail.
“The state of Georgia has 27,000 voting machines from the now-defunct Premier Election Systems (formerly known as Diebold) and 6,000 ExpressPoll machines — also made by Diebold. “You have an un-provable system,” says Pamela Smith, president of Verified Voting told Wired. “It MIGHT be right, it MIGHT NOT be right, and that absence of authoritative confirmation is the biggest problem. It’s corrosive.”
    http://www.rawstory.com/2017/06/no-paper-trial-georgias-antiquated-voting-system-prevents-an-audit-for-hacks/
–And getting us to doubt our Democratic institutions is GOP/KOCH 101.

  5. June 20, 2017 at 9:01 pm

Watching the Ossoff vs Handel race – I’m finding it difficult to breathe.

  6. June 20, 2017 at 9:14 pm

Oh well…Better focus on the senate …
House to much gerrymandering even with a ton of money .

    Keep on striving!

We will get where we need and want to get.

Just remain focused on the goal and do the best you can.

So Hillary was supposed to be the bad candidate (according to the pundits) because she ran against Trump rather than on policy although she had policy positions on many issues and gave multiple speeches on those policies. So along comes Ossoff and he was the ideal candidate. He wasn’t running against Trump but focused on policy. Yet we still can’t convince enough voters…. Now Trump and Congress will feel emboldened. All that marching and resisting means nothing if we can’t convince folks that Democrats are the better gatekeepers. This is very discouraging.

They are Republicans who voted for the Republican. It’s Newt Gingrich’s district. Really shouldn’t have been that close when you consider that. Demographics are changing, just not in time enough for this election. We must keep fighting and working on getting Dems out to vote for Dems.

    • June 21, 2017 at 10:59 am

GA SOS Brian Kemp has done his job again. He will be running for GA Gov in 2018 and I’m sure he’s polishing his #VoterSuppression tactics for that race. I’m giving myself a few days to grieve…then back to work. “Setbacks and disappointments are part of life – and they’re certainly a part of politics.” (Sen Vincent Fort)

Remember the words of Maya Angelou:

“Just like moons and like suns,
      With the certainty of tides,
      Just like hopes springing high,
      Still I’ll rise.”

This isn’t the end & withall. What worries me the most is that R’s are coming to the fight w/ voter disenfranchisement, & we’re coming w/ former rules of conduct, relying on their following the constitution. If electronic machines are hacked, then we should be fighting for paper ballots, mail in, early voting, & most of all keep an eye on voter purging.

Am just sick of all this, but am Damn stubborn & refuse to abdicate from the day when they all go down. Not leaving my fight now. We’re almost there. Hang tight! ❤

🙂 I’m disappointed, but I actually wasn’t secure in his win in a Republican district. That said, he should be congratulated and I know he “lost” the race…but I don’t feel like he’s done. She will have to be back at this again next year and if he chooses to run against her again, I believe the outcome may be very different. I’m proud of Ossoff and everyone that worked on his campaign. They all did an amazing job. Handel may have won this battle, but I do not believe that she will win the war. Forward we go!

Four loses : Georgia, S. Carolina, Kansas and Montana. I worked hard on having no expectations, but the results are disheartening nonetheless. Dems. need to have some wins soon to keep people encouraged for the long haul. We also need a unifying voice (I do not see this coming in any effective way from Ellison and Perez) because even though things are happening all over the country via grassroots organizations like Emily’s List for example, we seem scattered and without a message that we can identify and communicate to our own voters and to the country at large. We pride ourselves on our individuality, but we need to be a machine, a movement, that is recognizable, relatable, and unifying. I am not sure what that can/should be, but we are going to have o be a monolith to start winning elections.

          Joy is right.

Ossoff winning in a *runoff* was always a long shot. The special election indicated that even Republicans don’t care for Handel all that much. But they will hold their nose and vote for whoever has the R next to their name.

Ossoff ran a good campaign; stayed focus on issues even while Republicans and their PACs piled on the negative attack ads, especially in the last days leading up to election day. Democrats benefited from his candidacy and I hope the motivation remains as we enter the 2018 races.

Joy for the win! As the preachers say, she made it plain. This really is all that we need to know. It is always about getting your own people out, but we have the added burden of battling voter suppression, gerrymandering, purged voter rolls and hacked voting machines, and a gutted VRA, but with all of that we outnumber them, so we can overcome many of these obstacles in GOTV as we work through the courts to deal with them.

    http://www.politicususa.com/2017/06/20/ossoff-loss-reminds-democrats-real-victory-defeating-trump-healthcare.html

The zeal among some Democrats, liberals, and progressives for the Georgia House special election were always emotional. Some are still dealing with an Election Night 2016 hangover and were desperate for a win, but the win that they should be looking for is to defeat Trump on healthcare, not a victory that would net them 1/435th of the House.

People listened to what PBO always asked us to do and spelled out during his final address:

    Mr. Jon decided to be the change in he wanted to see in congress. He picked up a clipboard and decided to run himself;

Thousands of volunteers decided to get involved. They spent their energy, time and resources donating, knocking on doors, making phone calls & social media contacts, driving people to the polls, voting, etc.

Most importantly, they motivated many across the nation to get involved in their own communities.

To everyone, I say thank you very much for what you individually and collectively did.

Good morning everyone. It does hurt my heart to know people vote for hurting folks they don’t know. Only because there perception is lies. With the Fox msm telling all how their problems are caused by the “other” people. I have such a hard time listening to all these pundits telling us how things are when we know people are hurting. I’m not making sense, because my heArt is hurting for all the folks who are going to be hurt. For the families being torn apart. That video of the child hanging onto to his mother broke my heart. Who are these people who have no heart.
I thank God everyday for everyone of you. The fight continues and I will never give up.
