      Where was the tweet of Trump showing his anger against Russia for interfering in our election? Never a bad word for Putin or Russia, but he can attack every one else. He can attack anyone who says a bad word about him, but hey he can’t say anything about what Russia did.

        Trump is about to show how much he adores Putin when they meet up in a few days. It’s going to be another embarrassment for this country as he kisses up to Russia on a foreign stage.

    Americans are Enemy #1. No time to lose.
    Trump on Friday: “If Republican Senators are unable to pass what they are working on now, they should immediately REPEAL…”.
    Republicans openly out to hurt and Kill as many people as possible as fast as possible. Like – without delay! IMO we cannot watch everything fall irretrievably apart and expect 2018 to undo the new 1930s. No time to spectate, hope for the cavalry, think we’re
    dreaming, or wait for the next and the next attack on Americans. IMO this – THIS – is the exception to a nice, slow democratic process.
    Let’s admit we’ve been cleverly embroiled in a Coup! The architects are banking on the slowness of the American system.
    As with climate change, we’ve watched the temperatures rise for decades and not acted until it is in many ways too late.
    The Killer-In-Chief must be brought down and get the thing over with by any and all expedient means possible.

      It’s the same. The text of the bill basically describes going back to how it was before the ACA with all the ratfuckery that goes with it:

      – Pre-existing Conditions
      – Lifetime & Annual Caps
      – Dropping you when you get sick and keeping you in litigation until you’re dead.
      – Plans that don’t cover ANYTHING you actually NEED.
      – No Exchanges
      – No Tax Credits
      – Astronomically higher premiums

      You know, putting us back on the edge of total industry collapse which is why we needed the ACA in the first place.

      There is virtually zero difference between REPEAL ONLY & REPEAL AND REPLACE, since it’s really REPEAL & REPLACE WITH REPEAL.

      That’s it.

      It’s the biggest Bait & Switch ever, and the GOP & Trump hope we’re all brain damaged simpletons.

      Sadly, while we are resisting with all our strength and Democrats in Congress are standing firm, Trump is going to badly damage this country. How much damage he does will depend on whether Mueller can complete his investigation fast enough to force Trump out of office. Republicans are ride or die with the Bigot-in-Chief so his attack on Americans will continue for too long. Sigh.

    Good West Coast morning NW & TOD family.

    If you can, give yourself and encouraging treat and go see Wonder Woman this Independence Day America weekend!

    Purpleshoesla & I went yesterday and I’m still feeling the “yes I can” effects from the movie.

    It is well written. The actors are awesome. The diversity is subtle, yet, makes a grand statement. And then there is the story, action and Message.

    I was so inspired, I almost wanted to purchase another ticket right then so I could see it over again. I’m thinking about seeing it again on the 4th.

    I have never been motivated to see a Comics movie, but, this one is truly the exception.

    Reflections of the Bicentennial of the US Constitution by Justice Thurgood Marshall (1987)

    relevant as our country starts to celebrate 4th of July

    From the document…
    What is striking is the role legal principles have played throughout America’s history in determining the condition of Negroes. They were enslaved by law, emancipated by law, disenfranchised. And segregated by law; and, finally, they have begun to win equality by law. Along the way, new constitutional principles have emerged to meet the challenges of a changing society. The progress has been dramatic, and it will continue.
    The men who gathered in Philadelphia in 1787 could not have envisioned these changes. They could not have imagined, nor would they have accepted, that the document they were drafting would one day be construed by a Supreme Court to which had been appointed a woman and the descendent of an African slave. “We the People” no longer enslave, but the credit does not belong to the framers. It belongs to those who refused to acquiesce in outdated notions of “liberty,” “justice,” and “equality,” and who strived to better them.

    Article that appeared in the NYT in 1987

    I have no clue if this will help but, I am giving it a try;

    I wish many elected officials, who have any kind of morality, can sign a letter and petition the US State Department to grant visas to the Afghanistan First Global robotics team;

    positive things like these are the least we can do for the citizens of a country that has been at the receiving end of so much;

    As a lawyer I value the rule of law because it provides the framework necessary for the guarantees of equal protection and due process enshrined in the Constitution. We, the people, guarantee our citizens that no matter the color, creed, class or condition, justice favors all equally. As an immigrant, I am witness to American progress where what constitutes ‘We the People’ continues to grow, embracing those who would seek the favors of justice in the search for a better life. Though simple in concept, who counts and how should they be treated, lie at the heart of the American struggle. Khir Khan-The Gold Star parent who made headlines at the Democratic National Convention

    • July 2, 2017 at 3:58 pm

      In my view: Not a lawyer but common sense tells us there has to be some flexibility for the 21st century. We don’t have flint lock one-shot shooters any more. KOCH is exploring changing the Constitution and are constantly working on it. Change. Impermanence. Imminent necessity to protect millions of lives. The cunning minds behind Trumputin are having their way. Now the brilliant minds on the left side must work on getting the guy who used a fascist style of campaign to get elected with the help of a foreign hostile nation. IMO Nation mesmerized hypnotized by You’re Fired! in 2017. Too easy to wait around and see what he does next. Millions will die if he isn’t stopped.
      Democrats are serially too nice when the clock has already run out.

    if people have not understood this before they need to have no doubt there is proportion of people in the US who will not be moved no matter what the homegrown demagogue says, does or refuses to do;

    these people will be supporting him even if he was publicly arrested and taken to jail for russian scandal and subsequent obstruction of justice;

    therefore, it is a waste of time and resources to try and convince them otherwise;

    instead, all effort must be put in making sure that people who see him for the scoundrel he really is do not have boundaries/restrictions that stop them from voting and they are mobilized to show up and vote;

    that is it, end of story; #Forward

      GCL as you say it’s a waste of time to convince them – their thinking abilities have been squished and the haze around their reality is
      thick with unconsciousness. We cannot wait for them to approve. I believe the United States intelligence agencies can start sooner
      rather than later to come forward with what they know.

        I saw another tweet from Sherillyn ifill that said that story could be wrong. She said she was checking. I was waiting to see what she found out.

        The story said a number of African Americans had been found in a mass grave on a property owned by a KKK man, who’s since died. They even had a picture of skeletons. Apparently, according to the story, the new owners were doing renovations and were digging up on the land and found the skeletons.

      Because I hhave seen this before and how it turns out, my belief is that the white female progressives who started the Women’s March, are using WOC to make it seem that they are not a group of whiny privileged white women. One of the organizers even alluded to such in the days leading up to January’s march. Their new word, inter-sectionality, is a way to bring somewhat disparate women’s groups under one banner. A-A woman groups were wary, but joined in that day because they always show up, expecting little and getting it, but they know that movement, progress is incremental and plagued with land mines from the enemy as well as supposed allies, but join the fray anyway. I have seen the patronizing that goes on when any POC joins with a majority white group, whether it is a political party, the military, a volunteer organization, or any other group. POC trotted out to make it seem that the group is inclusive, but they have no real power or influence and are left out of the major decisions, sidelined to only doing so-called Black outreach, but really to be a type of Judas goat. When there are gains of whatever type, the POC get little or nothing: our talents, inventions, creations, and our very bodies used and discarded. Our history is littered with many examples of this throughout American history where wwe fought in every war, explored, built, created, and cared for much of what makes this country special. So I am sure these women are giving this group the side-eye, being very aware of all of this history, but as A-A women always do, taking what little we have access to (the entrails of life) and making do with it to sustain our families and community.

      • July 3, 2017 at 7:04 am

        I believe for black women there is always the threat of being co opted. But if you are not at the table you will be in the menu. I believe as yu do that progress is incremental. I also believe that progress is not static. It can change, therefore it must be defended. SoThat although blk women must be part of the leadership of the womens march group
        black women must develop their own political organization to advance candidates for political office

    Today at a rally for military veterans, Trump attacked the media and boasted about his illegitimate election win.
    “The fake media tried to stop us from going to the White House but I’m president and they’re not.”
    “In America we don’t worship government we worship God”.
    –“He then pumped his right fist as the crowd began chanting: “U-S-A! U-S-A!””

      Somehow, President Macron is on my Facebook page, so I have followed him semi-regularly. From what I have seen, it looks like he studied President Obama closely for eight years and is modeling his presidency on President Obama’s. He even works a rope line like PBO.
      A funny experience…..the other day a friend and I were talking, and politics came up. I said “Well, I saw pictures of the President in Indonesia…..” and the person laughed and said,…..”you’re talking about President Obama aren’t you.” I replied “Oh yes, to me he’s still the president.” She replied “Me too” I had done that without any conscious effort…..and I am not the only one, and I firmly believe we are way in the majority with that feeling.

    …President Moon Jae-in renewed his resolve to pursue sanctions and dialogue to tackle North Korea’s nuclear program during a meeting with former US President Barack Obama on Monday, saying now is the “last chance” for the regime to return to the negotiating table.

    During the 40-minute talk, Moon shared the results of his recent summit with his incumbent US counterpart …, asking for Obama’s advice on ways to advance the relationship. The former president stressed bipartisan US support for the alliance and wished Moon success in his presidency, according to Cheong Wa Dae. …

    …“In Paris, we came together around the most ambitious agreement in history to fight climate change — an agreement that, even with the temporary absence of American leadership, will still give our children a fighting chance,” Obama said. …

    “But the future does not favor the strongman. I believe deeply that the liberal international order; order based not just on military power or national affiliations, but on principles — the rule of law, human rights and individual freedoms — is the only choice.” …
