    Thank God we had a community organizer and a constitutional lawyer for a president! He knew how to get all of the stakeholders involved in everything that he did and he understood the legalities involved in every action. Because he and his staff were so thorough and because their motives were right, many of the things that they did to make our lives, the country and much of the world better have withstood the onslaughts of the unholy ones so far. He told us not to fear, but to be vigilant; to run for office ourselves if we were displeased with those in position, and he taught us that we have power and we should learn to wild it. “We are the ones that we have been waiting for” PBO told us many times and he was right about this as he was for so many other things. We are soldiers who must not quit the battlefield until the war is won and the enemy vanquished.

      I also see this as Mueller’s not looking at Trump Jr and Manafort as the big dogs. He’s going in for the kill. Of the prez. He won’t be handing HIM off, even if he’d go.

      And I hope eventually they’re all going to prison.

    After Obamacare Repeal Fail, GOP Eyes New Health Care Program To Gut
    Tierney Sneed, TPM
    ” On Tuesday morning, hours after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had pulled the plug on an Obamacare repeal bill that imposed a massive overhaul on Medicaid, the House Budget Committee unveiled a 10-year budget blueprint that would seek to transform and privatize Medicare. ”

    • July 18, 2017 at 5:00 pm

      The Killer-in-Chief said “Let the ACA die and then do it over” while doing whatever he can to destroy it.. You cannot redo a necessarily massive bill in a hurry by pretending to know how. Republicans in Congress aren’t working for America. For the last eight years McConnell has tried to take health care away from Americans young and old – is it 70 times now? We know the ACA only needs some TLC. If they refuse choose fixing the ACA and finally move on to other important matters e.g. infrastructure: IMO it is time to pull any
      tax paid or related health care coverage from Republicans in Congress. Before giving them the boot at the earliest.

      While trump and the GOP grandstand about “getting something done” the democrats are working away on what needs to be done.

    I caught the end of Chuck Schumer’s presser after the Repeal bill was considered dead. I was happy to hear him point out that 45 (and the GOP) were sabotaging Obamacare. Surprisingly, I only found reference to his comments in the Washington Times. Hopefully others will include it in their tweets.

    I don’t think the headline is correct, because Schumer did say that Obamacare has failed.

    Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer said Tuesday that President Trump’s threat to let Obamacare collapse was actually an attempt to sabotage the country’s health care system and use Americans as political pawns.

    “The president would not be ‘letting Obamacare collapse,’” said the New York Democrat. “He is actively trying to undermine the heath care system in the county, using millions of Americans as political pawns in cynical game.”

    He said the president was creating uncertainty that was undermining the health care system.

      I could be wrong but isn’t the Washington Times an outlet that pushes the agenda and talking points of conservative or gop (whatever they want to call themselves now)?

      • July 18, 2017 at 7:25 pm

        I think I’ve heard that too, Linda, which is why I said it was the only place I could find an account of Schumer’s comments. I would have preferred to cite it from (an)other source(s), and was actually surprised (then again maybe not) that I didn’t see an accounting/video clip anywhere else.

        I was primarily focused on Schumer calling out 45 and his sabotage the ACA.

      The industry is a mess right now because of the GOP insanity. All the carriers should have locked in their 2018 rates by now, but they can’t because who fucking knows if we’re even going to have a Health Industry come the weekend.

      Trump & McConnell/Ryan – The Axis of Idiocy are thinking about purposefully withholding all the Medicaid expansion funds to ALL the states beginning in August…. meaning most everyone with an exchange plan in the states that have tax credits for people to help pay their premiums, won’t have healthcare come August 1st. That’s two weeks from right now.

      TWO WEEKS.

      Two weeks and people won’t have insulin. Chemo. MS meds. Things that are currently keeping them ALIVE. In. Two. Weeks.

      They literally could put a hold on that money and cause widespread death and destruction on a WHIM.

      If that were to happen, there would need to be a 50-state Class Action suit to attempt to stop the Government from committing genocide, because that’s what it would be.

      The healthcare fight is far from over. Stay vigilant. Resist.

      • July 18, 2017 at 7:52 pm

        Hopefully, Democrats especially, but media, and any other group/organization that has a forum, will make sure 45/Ryan/McConnell’s plans to withhold funds are broadcast…starting NOW. Maybe it will cause those plans to remain a threat and not become reality.

    Former NASA scientist and current adjunct professor at Columbia University’s Earth Institute James Hansen is out with a new paper, published Tuesday in Earth Systems Dynamics, which outlines the science behind man-made climate change as well as the exceptional effort required to keep warming below 1.5°C (2.7°F).

    Hansen argues that future generations will need to remove carbon dioxide from the air and that reducing emissions is not enough to limit global warming. The paper is meant to provide scientific support for a lawsuit currently working its way through the courts, which pits a group of youth plaintiffs against the federal government. The case, Juliana v. United States, is scheduled to go to trial in early February.

    • July 18, 2017 at 5:44 pm

      Hanson has been trying for a long time to spell out what is needed. We’ve known about global warming due to fossil fuel emissions at least since the 1970’s. If we go carbon neutral quickly we will not stop terrible things happening over the next century, but we will save the human species.

    People seem to quickly forget things with respect to the homegrown demagogue;

    remember the unsolicited tweet in which the homegrown demagogue was claiming the Senator HRC was “giving away the country”?

    – the tweet in question is the one which Dr. Chelsea Clinton responded to with something like where you giving away the country;

    if I recall correctly, this was soon after participating in the G20;

    – all those who have been paying attention knows that one of the homegrown demagogue does repeatedly is to project and attack/accuse others of something he is in fact doing;

    I believe that during this meeting with putin, the homegrown demagogue was “giving away the country” (which ever part putin wanted as part of his continuing blackmail;

    I hope the media can be reminded about this tweet;

    when you lie too much, you soon loose track of the lie you just told.

    for year now, even as recently as last week, the homegrown demagogue and his enabling and collaborating republicans have been lying that Obamacare is dead.

    so if Obamacare dead, then who participated in its “resurrection” so that it could come back to life and then be there to fail???

    do these people really think we are all fools?

    For DF.

    IMHO, the article headline is misleading because FUBAR never puts his money where his mouth is, so we’ll see:

    From the article:
    “He told a small group of Arizona Republicans last fall — including Graham — that he would spend $10 million on defeating Flake in the 2018 Senate primary, a source familiar with the conversation confirmed. That conversation and the White House’s further involvement in recruiting a primary challenger were first reported Monday by Politico’s Alex Isenstadt.”

    • July 18, 2017 at 9:26 pm

      It seems that 45 does a lot of bluffing. He has gotten away with it in the past because people tended not to call his bluff.

      Now, however, we have been exposed to the con and his cons enough that his bluffs/threats does not generate the intended fear.

      And I agree, arapaho415. If $10 million is spent, it won’t be his money.
